Chapter 2553 Recalling the Past

Hongshi, having been raised in the palace and being a prince, was naturally more perceptive than ordinary people. Seeing that the Eighth Prince could understand the underlying principles in such a small matter as cricket fighting, he knew there was more to his words than met the eye.

Hongshi suddenly asked, "What does Eighth Uncle want to say?"

Eighth Master raised his lips and said lightly, "I heard that a dancer with superb dancing skills named Xiang Ning has come to the famous Drunken Village. Do you know her?"

Upon hearing this, Hongshi's expression suddenly changed, and his eyes gradually shifted from smugness to panic.

Eighth Master was constantly watching Hongshi's expression. Seeing his eyes darting around, he was certain that Hongshi was indeed very interested in Xiang Ning and had already reached the point of being unable to extricate himself from it.

“In this world, some people approach you because they genuinely want to get to know you and are willing to do many things for you. But others come together for profit and part ways when the profit is gone. I’ve heard many people say how beautiful and extraordinary Xiang Ning is, but once she pays money, she’s no different from any other woman. In the end, she’s just a lowly prostitute!”

Hongshi's face suddenly turned red. He lost interest in observing the cricket's condition and his cricket quickly fell behind and lost.

Since his last break with Xiang Ning, he has been trying his best to forget her. Rather than forgetting Xiang Ning, it would be more accurate to say that he has forgotten the Irgen clan.

But Eighth Master's words caused those memories and feelings to surge forth like a tidal wave.

Seeing Hongshi's distressed expression, Eighth Master said, "That day I wanted to see what was different about Xiangning, and I heard Xiangning say that she had met you before and rejected you. As far as I know, she rejected you, but someone told her to do it on purpose!"

Hongshi was taken aback, looking at the Eighth Master in astonishment, and quickly shook his head in denial, "Impossible, she didn't know my identity at all back then."

Eighth Master said, "Since she did it on purpose, it means she already knew your identity. She must have someone behind her directing you."

Upon hearing this, Hongshi was greatly surprised. Although he subconsciously believed what the Eighth Master said, he still retained a sliver of hope that Xiang Ning was not that kind of person.

Knowing what he was thinking, Eighth Master stood up and said, "If you don't believe me, I'll tell you the truth later. Stay here and don't leave. I'll be right back."

He went outside the room and told the servant waiting outside to ride his horse to pick up someone. He then told Hongshi to wait in the next room.

"Uncle Ba, what exactly are you trying to do?" Hongshi asked, feeling a little uneasy.

Eighth Master patted his shoulder, still with a gentle smile, "Don't worry, Uncle Eight won't harm you."

After saying that, he returned to the room he had just been in, while Hongshi waited anxiously in the next room.

It wasn't until an incense stick had burned that the door to the next room finally creaked open, and Hongshi finally came to his senses. He stood behind the door, listening intently to what was being said inside.

A woman wearing a red cloak followed the Eighth Master's servant into the room. After the servant left and closed the door, the woman took off her cloak.

"This humble woman, Xiang Ning, greets Your Excellency." The woman smiled sweetly at the Eighth Master, curtsied, and exuded charm.

Hearing that familiar voice, which was now far more alluring than any he had heard before, Hongshi trembled, a surge of indescribable pain welling up within him.
