By the time the maid returned with the tea, Hongshi had composed himself and was no longer as dejected as before. He simply tidied his desk.
"Your Highness, please put it down. Let me take care of it..."
Hongshi had no choice but to step back a few paces, watching the maid's retreating figure. Only then did he realize that the young woman before him had a wasp waist and narrow shoulders, swaying gracefully. Her slightly upturned nose and pretty oval face, paired with her flawless skin, made her appear sweet and beautiful. Although she was only dressed in servant's attire, it was not difficult to tell that she was a beauty in the making.
Hongshi had never seen her in the manor before, so he asked curiously, "Where do you serve as a maid? Why have I never seen you before?"
The maidservant turned around in surprise, bowed her head, and answered softly, "Your Highness, I am a maidservant who was just transferred from the Imperial Household Department. Currently, I am only assigned to do some odd jobs in the front courtyard, so Your Highness has never seen me before..."
Hongshi nodded and said, "I see, that explains why you look so unfamiliar..."
The maidservant kept her head down, cowering timidly, not daring to move.
Hongshi then realized what was happening, waved his hand and said, "It's alright, you can go ahead and pack..."
Only then did the maid dare to get up and carefully pick up the debris on the ground. From Hongshi's angle, the maid's figure was on full display.
Hongshi felt hot all over, and with a sudden thought, he coughed a few times to distract himself. Remembering the tea he'd asked the maid to pour, he finally spoke, "By the way, where's the tea you made?"
Reminded by Hongshi's words, the maidservant closed her eyes shyly, stuck out her tongue, and lightly tapped her head with her hand.
Hongshi was amused by the maid's cute and playful appearance and couldn't help but exclaim, "Ahem...aren't you going yet?"
The maid stood up in a panic and glanced at Hongshi, but when she found that Hongshi was not angry, she breathed a sigh of relief and timidly poured a cup of tea and brought it to Hongshi.
Hongshi didn't answer, and began to scrutinize the maid. The maid noticed Hongshi's gaze fixed on her, blushed, and dared not look up, stammering fearfully, "Your Highness, I forgot for a moment, I hope Your Highness won't be angry... Your tea..."
Hongshi was deeply attracted to the maid in front of him. She had the shadow of the Irgen clan. Every smile and frown was so lovely and delicate. Her timid and cautious appearance was lovable.
Since losing Lady Irgen, Hongshi has only had Ulanara Shuzhen by his side, with no other concubines. He originally intended to restrain his temper and live a good life with Ulanara Shuzhen, but today's events have dealt a heavy blow to Hongshi. The thought that the Empress and Ulanara Shuzhen had conspired against him has filled Hongshi with rage.
Seeing Hongshi lost in thought, the maid tentatively raised her head like a rabbit, her large, watery eyes fixed on him, and said, "Your Highness, what are you thinking about..."
Hongshi's heart skipped a beat, and he thought to himself, "Since the Empress and Ulanara Shuzhen want to control me so much, I'll just let them have their way..."
Hongshi reached out his hand, and the maid, thinking he was going to take the teacup, pushed the teacup forward. Unexpectedly, Hongshi grabbed the maid's wrist, and the teacup fell to the ground... The maid had already fallen into Hongshi's arms.
"Your Highness... what... what are you doing?" The maid shrank back, leaning against Hongshi's chest, and asked in a trembling voice.
Hongshi found the maid's scent very pleasant. Looking down at the shy and timid beauty in his arms, his throat tightened, and an indescribable desire surged within him.
"Would you be my woman?"
The maid was stunned, looking at Hongshi in disbelief, but then she bit her lip and nodded slightly. Before she could react, Hongshi leaned down...
The two embraced and kissed passionately...
