Chapter 2586 Meeting the Ninth Prince's Consort

Since leaving the palace, the Eighth Prince's wife had been looking rather unwell, her expression as gloomy as a cloudy sky.

The carriage rolled along the road towards the Eighth Prince's Mansion.

The Eighth Prince's wife stirred the silk handkerchief in her hand, feeling nervous and uneasy as the carriage swayed. She thought of Consort Yi, her aunt. When the late emperor was alive, he had shown Consort Yi all kinds of favor, making her the envy of all the concubines in the harem. How radiant and popular Consort Yi was back then.

But now, Consort Yi, who was once the most favored concubine in the harem, has ended up suffering such mistreatment after the late emperor's death.

She sighed deeply, feeling a strange mix of emotions. Fate was playing cruel tricks on her; she wondered what Consort Yi would face in the future.

Sitting in the carriage, the Eighth Prince's wife pondered deeply, feeling a deep sense that she needed to do something.

She suddenly whispered, "Go to the Ninth Prince's residence."

Upon hearing this, the coachman outside immediately turned the carriage around and headed towards the Ninth Prince's residence.

The Eighth Prince and the Ninth Prince are both in an awkward situation, but for the sake of Consort Yi, she has to go to the Ninth Prince's residence, no matter how risky it may be.

The carriage arrived at the Ninth Prince's residence quickly. The Eighth Prince's wife stepped down from the carriage, and a servant standing at the gate saw her and hurriedly bowed, "Greetings, Eighth Prince's wife."

The Eighth Prince's wife nodded. "Is the Ninth Prince's wife at the manor? Go and tell her I've arrived."

The servant nodded and bowed, saying, "Yes, I will go and inform them immediately."

She hurriedly entered the mansion. The Eighth Princess Consort waited at the door for a while. In that short time, she had already thought about what she should say to the Ninth Princess Consort when she saw her.

In order for her plan to proceed smoothly, there are some things she has to say.

Not long after, Ninth Princess Consort came out of the mansion. She was dressed in a very homely qipao, with a smile on her face, but more than that, she was surprised. "Why did Eighth Sister-in-law come so suddenly? Why didn't you send someone to let us know beforehand?"

The Eighth Prince's wife smiled, though somewhat absentmindedly, "I hope this sudden visit hasn't bothered you!"

Ninth Princess Consort warmly took her hand and said, "Not at all, it's been a long time since we sisters-in-law have seen each other. Please come in."

"Then I won't stand on ceremony," the Eighth Princess said, flicking the handkerchief in her hand. Previously, this Ninth Princess had always been invisible to her; she had never taken her seriously.

The two walked through the flowers and willows towards the Ninth Prince's wife's courtyard, chatting along the way about trivial family matters.

Upon entering the room, Ninth Prince Consort had tea and snacks served, and then sized up Eighth Prince Consort.

The Eighth Prince's wife held her teacup and took a small sip. Even with such fine tea, her expression remained indifferent. The Ninth Prince's wife, with her sharp eyes, noticed that the Eighth Prince's wife was preoccupied and said with a faint smile, "What brings you here, Eighth Sister-in-law? Please speak frankly!"

The Eighth Prince's wife thought so too, and she really didn't want to beat around the bush with the Ninth Prince's wife, so she simply said, "Actually, I have some things I'd like to ask the Ninth Prince for help with."

Ninth Prince's wife guessed that she had something important to say, so she said, "I would like to hear the details."

"Since the late Emperor passed away, Consort Yi's life in the palace has been difficult. She has often been mistreated. I would like to ask Ninth Prince to bring Consort Yi out of the palace so that she can have a better life in her later years."

From the moment Ninth Princess Consort uttered the words "Consort Yi," the smile on her face gradually faded. In the end, although she still had a slight upturn of her lips, there was little joy in it.
