After Ninth Prince left, Yongzheng looked at the cold tea on the table and pondered his words.
Ninth Prince's wife, Lady Dong'e, did not come from an ordinary family. Her father held great power and, in theory, would have been very helpful to the Ninth Prince. Even if Lady Dong'e was dissatisfied with the Ninth Prince's dissolute nature and wanted to divorce him, the Ninth Prince would not have agreed.
It was unclear what he was really thinking, or what kind of act he was putting on by proposing a divorce. Yongzheng could only send him away for now and think about the reasons more carefully.
Just then, Su Peisheng came in from outside, crouching low and saying cautiously, "Your Majesty, Consort Nian has arrived!"
Yongzheng nodded. "Let her in!"
Su Peisheng turned and went out. A moment later, he saw Nian Shi swaying her hips as she came in from outside.
She wore a bright pink brocade cheongsam, adorned with peony flowers. The red color made her skin appear fair and radiant, and she gazed at the Fourth Master with seductive eyes.
"Your Majesty, I pay my respects." Consort Nian curtsied slightly.
The Fourth Master, who had been resting with his eyes closed, slightly lifted his eyelids upon hearing her clear, jade-like voice, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Get up! Why did you come all this way in this sweltering heat?"
Lady Nian carried a food box and walked to Yongzheng's side. She placed the food box on the table, gently pulled open a drawer with her nail-painted fingers, and said, "Your Majesty, I am always concerned about you. No matter how hot the weather is, I will still come here."
Lady Nian took the eye socket out of the food box, then took another small bowl and scooped the eye socket into the bowl. "This is bird's nest that I personally stewed for Your Majesty. Your Majesty works hard on state affairs all day long and needs to nourish your body properly."
Fourth Master nodded slightly, "You're becoming more and more virtuous."
As he spoke, he took the bird's nest from Madam Nian's hand, scooped up a spoonful and tasted it. Madam Nian watched as he finished the bird's nest in the bowl in no time, then went behind him and massaged his shoulders, saying, "If Your Majesty likes it, I will stew bird's nest for you every day and bring it to Your Majesty to drink."
The Fourth Prince glanced at her and patted the back of her hand. "You are now Consort Nian. Why do these things yourself? Just leave them to the servants."
Lady Nian pouted, "Those servants are all so clumsy, they always make me worry so much. Besides, I care about Your Majesty, so I personally cooked it. Seeing Your Majesty drink it makes me even happier."
Fourth Master glanced at her delicate fingers and said, "If these delicate hands, which have never lifted a finger, become rough from doing this kind of work, you'll feel sorry for them."
Lady Nian's eyes flickered, and she said with a charming smile, "I don't feel sorry for you. As long as it's for Your Majesty, I'm willing to do anything!"
