The Fourth Prince and Lanqin discussed how to make Hongli's wedding clean, simple, and yet still maintain royal grandeur.
Lanqin didn't like being too ostentatious, and she had already spent a lot of energy arranging her daughter's wedding.
When Fourth Master saw that Lanqin strongly advocated simplicity, he went along with her and his goodwill towards her increased even more.
"Father, I don't want to get married yet!" Hongli originally came to pay his respects to his mother, but he didn't expect to hear his father arranging a marriage for him outside the door. He shouldn't have disobeyed his father's decree, but he couldn't control himself. Now he was in a dilemma and didn't know what to do.
Lanqin was surprised to see her son so resistant. Hadn't Hongli already fallen deeply in love with Fucha Mingyu?
"How dare you! Just because you don't want to get married doesn't mean you can't. Marriage is a major life event decided by parents. How dare you interfere!" Fourth Master rebuked him sternly, abandoning his usual lenient attitude.
"Your Majesty, Hongli must have heard that he's getting married and is so excited that he's momentarily at a loss for words. Hongli, quickly thank your father." Lanqin quickly smoothed things over, also feeling a little puzzled as to why the Fourth Prince was so irritable today.
Hongli pursed his lips. "Thank you, Father Emperor! Your subject obeys the decree."
"Good, those who achieve great things must first establish a family." After saying this, the Fourth Prince had Hongli sit down beside him. He then asked in detail, "If you have any concerns in your heart, tell me, Father."
The Fourth Prince knew that Hongli was always a child with his own opinions, so when he saw him hesitating, he naturally wanted to ask him why.
"Father, no, I was just confused for a moment. Your decision must be right!" Hongli didn't know why he had objected just now, but now he realized that he had indeed reached the age to get married.
When the Fourth Prince heard that Hongli understood his feelings, his smile deepened.
"Hahaha, Hongli truly lives up to his reputation as my favorite prince; he really understands my thoughts!" the Fourth Prince laughed.
"Su Peisheng, I will dine here tonight," the Fourth Prince instructed.
"Yes, sir," the servant standing to the side replied.
Lanqin felt a sweet warmth in her heart as she watched her two beloved men get along so well, and her dimpled smile became even more radiant and captivating. However, the Fourth Prince's insistence on marrying Hongli made her suspect that he might have some other ulterior motives.
After dinner, Hongli bid farewell to his father and mother and left Changchun Palace.
"Your Majesty, why do you suddenly want Hongli to get married as soon as possible? Although Hongli is an adult, his mind is not yet mature. I think..." Lanqin finally voiced the doubts in her heart.
"Lanqin, it's time for Hongli to experience these things. As I said, those who achieve great things must first establish a family." The Fourth Prince emphasized the word "great things."
The more Fourth Master avoided answering her questions, the more suspicious she became. However, Fourth Master didn't seem to want to talk about it, which puzzled Lanqin. In the past, Fourth Master would always tell her everything.
"Qin'er, trust me. Everything I do is for Hongli. You'll understand my intentions when the time comes," the Fourth Prince said, holding Lanqin's hand.
Lanqin then stopped asking questions and ordered dinner to be served immediately, so she could dine with the Fourth Prince. That night, the Fourth Prince naturally stayed at Changchun Palace, and the two were inseparable. Although they had been together for more than ten years, the Fourth Prince seemed to be becoming more and more infatuated with Lanqin.
After leaving Changchun Palace, Hongli went directly to his own residence.
