When the Eighth Prince found out, his pent-up anger erupted like a volcano, and he lunged at Hongshi.

"Enough!" The Eighth Prince raised his hand, interrupting him.
"You go back first. I'll try to keep things from getting you involved as much as possible. When you get back, keep an eye on that Ruan Meiying. You know what to do, right?"
Hongshi nodded and said affirmatively, "I know, I know. Hongshi will not let down Eighth Imperial Uncle's expectations."
When Hongshi returned to the Prince's mansion, it was already past midnight. The night was quiet, the moon was dim, the stars were sparse, and a gentle breeze was blowing. Apart from one or two barks from dogs, the only other sound was the clattering of horseshoes on the cobblestones of the carriage.
Hongshi was annoyed by the noise and urged the coachman to hurry up. But what really bothered him was what the Eighth Prince had told him today. Hongshi hadn't expected that Ruan Meiying was actually connected to Geshan Village and might even have betrayed him. Thinking of this, his affection for Ruan Meiying over the past few days vanished in an instant.
Upon returning to the Prince's residence, the steward greeted him and asked, "Your Highness, where will you be resting tonight, or will you be staying with Master Ruan?"
Hongshi already had a problem with Ruan Meiying because of what had just happened, and didn't want to see her for the time being. After thinking for a while, he said, "Let's go to Linlang's place tonight."
The steward replied, "Yes, Your Highness. I will go and tell Mistress Linlang to make preparations immediately."
Hongshi stopped him and said, "No need, I will go now."
The butler sensed that Hongshi was acting strangely tonight, but since he was his master, he couldn't ask him anything. He opened his mouth but didn't say anything.
Hongshi arrived at Linlang's courtyard. The servants in the courtyard immediately bowed upon seeing Hongshi and said, "Greetings, Your Highness."
Hongshi ignored them and went straight into Linlang's bedroom.
Linlang was just about to wash up and go to bed when she saw Hongshi arrive. She was overjoyed and said with a smile, "Your Highness, you've come!"
Hongshi nodded, then sat on the bed. Linlang smiled and poured him a cup of tea, then went over and handed it to Hongshi.
"Your Highness, you've finally arrived! I thought you'd forgotten about me!" Linlang said to Hongshi in a coquettish tone.
Hongshi looked at her and realized that he hadn't visited Linlang in a long time. He felt a little guilty and hugged Linlang, saying, "How could I forget you! I've just been too busy lately, so I came to see you."
Linlang scoffed inwardly, but pretended to be nonchalant. She looked up at Hongshi with bright eyes and pleaded, "Then how about you come to see Linlang every day from now on, Master?"
Looking at her, Hongshi couldn't bear to refuse, and considering Ruan Meiying's situation, he nodded and agreed to Linlang's request, saying, "Okay."
Linlang laughed and climbed back into Hongshi's arms.
"You're the best, sir."
