Chapter 3011 Disappointment

Although Hongshi still suspected Ruan Meiying, he couldn't bring himself to kill her, after all, Ruan Meiying had served him very well during this time. Moreover, there was no evidence at the moment, and perhaps the Eighth Prince had misunderstood Ruan Meiying.

Hongshi began to doubt his own memory—was it all real or fake? Did he tell Ruan Meiying about Geshan Village when he was drunk? If he did, then regardless of whether Ruan Meiying leaked the secret, her existence was always a threat to him. If he didn't, then how did his father know about Geshan Village?

Hongshi often found it difficult to make decisions, and he hesitated even more over the matter of Ruan Meiying. In the end, he could not make a decision and had to go to court with a heavy heart.

When Linlang woke up and didn't see Hongshi, she asked the maid, "Where did the Prince go?"

"Reporting to Your Highness, Prince went to Consort Ruan's courtyard early this morning and has already gone to the morning court." After the maid finished speaking, she lowered her head, not daring to look at Linlang. She was afraid that Linlang would be angry and take it out on her if she knew that Hongshi had gone to Consort Ruan's place early in the morning.

To her surprise, Linlang was not angry at all; instead, she ordered her to do her hair and makeup immediately.

Linlang felt that Hongshi was definitely going to confront Ruan Meiying, and that Ruan Meiying was doomed this time. She wanted to dress up nicely and greet Hongshi when he returned.

After court, Hongshi returned to the Prince's residence.

Linlang quickly received the message and waited for him at the gate. When she saw Hongshi get off the carriage, Linlang went to greet him.

"Your Highness, you're back!"

Hongshi was surprised that she would come to greet him, and nodded. He then asked, "What are you doing here?"

Linlang said, "Your Highness, I didn't see you off when you left this morning, so I came here to greet you."

Then she continued, "I heard that Your Highness went to Sister Ruan's place this morning?"

Hongshi said, "Yes, I asked her, but she didn't know where she was from."

Upon hearing this, Linlang understood that Hongshi had not punished Ruan Meiying. She was extremely disappointed. Hongshi knew that Ruan Meiying's existence was a threat, yet he hadn't killed her. She hated Hongshi's indecisiveness and secretly clenched her fists, digging her painted nails into her flesh.

A woman's heart doesn't usually die from major events, but rather from repeated small disappointments that become fatal wounds.

Linlang said, "Your Highness, I suddenly feel a little unwell and would like to go back to my room first."

"Are you alright? I'll go back with you," Hongshi asked with concern.

Linlang said with a forced smile, "It's nothing, Your Highness, please go and attend to your official duties!"

Then, unwilling to even speak to Hongshi, he said to the maid, "Let's go."

Hongshi knew that Linlang was unhappy because he hadn't dealt with Ruan Meiying.

Back in her room, Linlang finally released her emotions. "Ah!" she cried out, her chest heaving violently.

After venting her emotions, Linlang sat down and wrote a letter to the Eighth Prince, detailing what had happened word by word, and then sent it to him by carrier pigeon.

After reading the letter, the Eighth Prince, who had previously been angry with Hongshi, was now disappointed. He slammed the letter on the table with a "bang" and muttered to himself:

"Hongshi, Hongshi, your womanly compassion and indecisiveness truly disappoint me. Very well, since you can't bring yourself to do it, I will kill that woman for you."
