The coachman inquired his way to the Prince's residence and finally arrived. He stepped forward and knocked on the door. After knocking for a long time, the steward finally opened the door and asked, "Who is it?" Since Hongshi was demoted to a commoner, no one had come to visit for a long time, and even the gatekeeper had been dismissed.
The butler watched the newcomer warily.
Jieli said, "I am a friend of your prince. He just got drunk, so I came to bring him back."
The steward stared at Jieli with suspicion. He didn't know when the Prince had made such a friend, and it seemed that he wasn't even from the Central Plains.
The steward initially didn't believe him, but seeing that Hongshi was indeed in his carriage, the steward had no choice but to invite them inside. After all, this prince was not the same as before; even entertaining guests was now a bit extravagant.
Jieli waved his hand and said, "I have some things to do. Now that the person has been delivered, I have completed my task and will not go in to visit. I will definitely pay a visit in person when I have time tomorrow. Let's carry your Prince into the house first."
The coachman and the steward carried Hongshi into the house. After spending half a day together, Hongshi was already reluctant to part with Jieli. He originally wanted to keep Jieli there to drink and chat with him, but Jieli refused on the grounds that he had something to do.
When Shuzhen saw Hongshi return, although he was drunk, he seemed to be in much better spirits.
She already regretted arguing with Hongshi. After all, no matter what, Hongshi was her husband, and a wife should listen to her husband. What if he pushed her too far and really divorced her? She wouldn't be able to go back to her parents' home. If she was really divorced, she would be homeless. In order to appease Hongshi, Shuzhen immediately went to greet him when she heard that he was coming back. At this moment, she hurriedly had someone wash and change his clothes.
Seeing that Hongshi's mood had improved, Shuzhen asked, "Your Highness, where did you go? You seem to be in a better mood. Did something good happen?"
Hongshi was happy when he thought about what happened today. He never expected that he would be able to befriend the prince of the grasslands. If he could befriend him, he would have another chance to compete for the throne.
The thought of having a chance to reclaim the throne seemed to rouse Hongshi, and he even said to Shuzhen, "Shuzhen, I think maybe my luck has come."
Shuzhen asked in confusion, "What's wrong with Prince Beile? Did the Empress send word that she'd help us?"
Hongshi curled his lip and said, "The Empress has already given up on me. I'm of no use to her now, so she won't care about me!"
Shuzhen said, "So what do you mean?"
Hongshi said, "I am a man of great wealth and honor, and such a setback is no challenge for me."
Shuzhen agreed with him, saying, "Your Highness, you are certainly a man of great wealth and honor. I have always believed that as long as you cheer up, we still have hope."
Hongshi nodded and said, "This Prince has decided to pull himself together. I swear that one day I will take back everything I have lost."
Shuzhen was very happy because Hongshi finally understood and she no longer needed to worry about him.
Hongshi patted Shuzhen's hand and said, "You've worked hard these past few days, running around for me."
Shuzhen shook her head and said, "It's not hard work. I'm willing to do anything for Prince Bei."
"Thank you, Shuzhen. I will definitely treat you well in the future," Hongshi said.
Then he took Shuzhen's hand and led her to the bed.
