Lanqin was shocked and sat there for a long time, stunned by the conclusion she had come to.
She questioned her conclusion. After all, when she first arrived, she clearly exhibited modern characteristics, but since meeting Lady Fucha, she hadn't noticed any modern traits in her. Rather, her every move suggested a quintessential lady from a prominent ancient family. Yet, there was no other explanation for Lady Fucha's behavior or her knowledge that the Fourth Prince would one day become Emperor.
"Could she be able to foresee the future?" Lanqin thought to herself, but she quickly dismissed the idea, as it seemed even more impossible than the idea that Lady Fucha was a time traveler.
Seeing Lanqin lost in thought, Baoqin quickly asked, "Your Highness, what's wrong? Why do you look so preoccupied?"
So she asked with concern, "Your Highness, what's wrong? Are you thinking about Lady Fucha?"
Lanqin shook her head, "I'm fine."
Then she said to the kneeling maid, "You may leave now. I will contact you if anything happens. Remember, you are not allowed to mention today's events to anyone."
"Yes, Your Highness, this servant takes her leave." After saying this, the maid kowtowed to Lanqin, then bowed and walked out of Changchun Palace.
Baoqin said, "Your Highness, you seem to have something on your mind. Do you not trust that palace maid?"
"Not at all." Lanqin breathed a sigh of relief and instructed Baoqin, "Baoqin, go and summon Eunuch Duo from the Imperial Household Department to Changchun Palace."
Baoqin didn't understand why Lanqin wanted to see Eunuch Duo. She wanted to ask, but seeing Lanqin's solemn expression, she could only swallow the words that were on the tip of her tongue and hurried to the Imperial Household Department.
Lanqin understood that if Lady Fucha was also a time traveler, then she would indeed be in a difficult position to deal with. The poison on Consort Nian might have been administered by her, but without evidence, she couldn't do anything to her yet. She had to find evidence of Lady Fucha's crimes as soon as possible, but before that, she needed to confirm whether Lady Fucha was a time traveler like herself.
Lanqin's fingers unconsciously traced circles on the table beside her; she was planning how to deal with the mysterious Fucha clan member.
When Baoqin arrived at the Imperial Household Department, the people there knew she was Lanqin's person and naturally dared not neglect her. The head eunuch, Eunuch Li, came out and said, "Miss Baoqin, is there something you need here?"
Baoqin bowed slightly to her and said, "Greetings, Eunuch Li. This servant is here at the Imperial Household Department to fetch Eunuch Duo on the orders of Consort Xi. Consort Xi wishes to see him."
"I see," said Eunuch Li, then told the little eunuch beside him, "Go and fetch Eunuch Duo."
The young eunuch obeyed the order to leave, and soon returned, followed by Eunuch Duo.
When Eunuch Duo saw Baoqin and Eunuch Li, he cupped his hands in greeting and said, "Greetings, Eunuch Li, and greetings, Miss Baoqin."
Eunuch Li nodded, and Baoqin returned the greeting with a smile.
"I heard the young lady was looking for me," said Eunuch Duo. "Does Consort Xi have any instructions?"
Baoqin nodded and said, "That's right, Consort Xi asked me to come to the Imperial Household Department to pick up Eunuch."
"Please come with me, sir."
"good."
Baoqin said to Eunuch Li, "Greetings, Eunuch Li, this servant will take her leave now."
Eunuch Li said, "May you have a safe journey, young lady."
Eunuch Duo bowed to Eunuch Li and then left with Baoqin.
On the way, Eunuch Duo asked, "Miss Baoqin, do you know why Consort Xi summoned this servant?"
