Xueying sat in the room, thinking about how Hongli had been so cold to her for so long.
She kept numbing herself because of her status, and Hongli kept deliberately avoiding her.
"Consort, the master invites you to a gathering in the front courtyard," A'luo said happily as she walked in from outside the door.
Xueying was puzzled as to why she was suddenly asked to go to the front yard.
"But what happened? It's so late!" Xueying asked.
"Consort, the Fifth Prince has arrived. He requests your presence in the front courtyard," A'luo said. "A servant from the front courtyard just came to deliver this message."
Hongzhou is here. Why would they think of me? Hasn't Hongli always hated having me around? Ever since I married into the household, Hongli has rarely come to the East Courtyard.
"A'Luo, quickly help me with my makeup. I need to look my best when I see Hongli." After getting ready, Xueying arrived at the front yard. As she stepped onto the steps, she saw Fucha Mingyu. She had thought she was the only one there, but it seemed she had been mistaken. A hint of melancholy lingered on her smiling lips.
"Greetings, Your Highness, Fifth Prince, and Your Highness's Consort." Xueying greeted the three of them.
Hongzhou hurriedly said, "We're all family, so let's not be bound by so many formalities. Please sit down."
Xueying sat down next to Mingyu. Mingyu hadn't seen her clearly from a distance before, but now she realized Xueying, who was already naturally beautiful, was wearing makeup. Her fair face was framed by bright, large eyes, and her cherry-red lips were exceptionally alluring. Hongli didn't want to talk to Xueying in the first place, and Mingyu was also annoyed by her makeup, so the four-person gathering turned into a two-person gathering, which was really awkward.
When Hongli was feeling down, he looked up and saw the clear moon. He thought of composing a poem: "The moon is bright tonight, and there is fine wine. Why not compose a poem?"
