In the main courtyard.
A pretty and charming woman was doing something unbecoming of her status—smashing a neatly arranged vase on the ground in a frenzy, as if only in this way could her anger dissipate. No matter how much Granny Tian tried to persuade her, she couldn't stop her.
This morning, Mingyu prepared lotus seed and red date porridge to take to Hongli. He must have drunk too much last night, so she wanted to warm his stomach. On her way, she overheard servants whispering among themselves, and she vaguely heard the names Hongli and Ulanara Xueying.
"Come here, what were you talking about? Don't you have anything to do?" Mingyu's eyes were sharp, and she had the demeanor of a mistress of the house.
The servants were trembling with fear. The Fujin managed all the affairs of the mansion, and she was usually quite strict with the servants, so they were all somewhat afraid of her.
"No, no... said anything!" The servants naturally dared not tell the truth.
Mingyu's expression gradually turned serious; it seemed something she didn't know had indeed happened. "Nothing? So you all have nothing to do? So much time to gossip? The Prince's mansion can't afford idlers like you. Leave after today!"
The thought of leaving the Prince's mansion to live a life of hunger and cold caused the servants to kneel down and plead, "Your Highness, we were wrong. Please don't send us away. Actually... we were just saying... yesterday the concubine and the Prince... consummated their marriage."
Hearing this news felt like a knife had been plunged into Mingyu's heart, followed by a tearing of her flesh. She was heartbroken and saddened, but more than anything, she felt betrayed!
Mingyu remained calm on the surface. "Alright, since you know you were wrong, you can leave. But you won't get your reward for this month. Go now." The servants thanked her repeatedly and left.
Seeing that only Granny Tian was with him, he said, "Granny, let's throw this porridge away and go back!"
When Hongli returned from court, he heard that Mingyu knew about his affair with Xueying. He flew into a rage in his room and rushed to the main courtyard without even changing his clothes.
As soon as I entered, I saw Mingyu sitting on the table, looking sullen. Her red eyes clearly showed that she must have been crying that morning. My guilt deepened.
"Mingyu!" Hearing someone call her name, she looked up and saw Hongli. She lowered her head again, not intending to speak to him. After what happened last night, she was completely disheartened towards him.
The servants stood inside, their hearts pounding in their chests. The Princess Consort was not responding to the Prince, she must be really angry this time. Everyone was on edge, worried that if the Princess Consort lost favor because of this, their own lives would be miserable.
Seeing that Mingyu had no intention of paying attention to him, Hongli dismissed all the servants.
Mingyu suddenly felt a tightness around her waist; it was Hongli hugging her from behind. "Mingyu, listen to me. I really did drink too much last night, which is why I did such a thing. You know perfectly well that you're the only one in my heart, so why are you still so angry?" Hongli said.
Seeing that Mingyu still didn't intend to pay him any attention, he continued, "She's a secondary consort. If I don't consummate our marriage, the Empress will gossip to Father Emperor, which will be very bad for me and Mother. You should know that." After saying this, Hongli buried his head in Mingyu's neck. He was truly exhausted after what had happened these past few days. He only hoped that Mingyu could be more magnanimous and forgive him.
