Chapter 3266 Overthinking

Mingyu noticed that Lanqin was also paying attention to Xueying. From Lanqin's earlier comment about Wukuzha's ability to produce heirs for the royal family, Mingyu felt that her mother-in-law definitely had a problem with her. Mingyu even suspected that Lanqin seemed to prefer Xueying.

Mingyu sat to one side, looking sullen, while Xueying returned from the Empress's quarters. Mingyu didn't want to talk to Xueying, but she really wanted to know what the Empress had said to her.

"What did you just say to Her Majesty the Empress?" Mingyu asked tentatively. She knew Xueying would not tell her the truth, but she felt that Lanqin definitely wanted to know.

Xueying felt helpless. Mingyu hadn't said a word to her the whole way, but now she was showing concern for her.

"It's just that we haven't seen each other for a long time, so we're just catching up. Oh, by the way, Her Majesty also asked me to give my regards to you, Fujin, and Prince." Xueying said casually, trying her best not to appear nervous or guilty.

Mingyu knew it wasn't that simple; Xueying's expression while speaking to the Empress betrayed her. If it were just a simple, everyday matter, why would she look so nervous?

"Really? Has something happened at home, little sister? You look so serious, I'm very worried," Mingyu said with a heavy expression.

"Nothing has happened at home, thank you for your concern, Madam." Xueying didn't want to get entangled with Mingyu any further. She was currently preoccupied with the Empress's affairs and had no energy to deal with Mingyu.

Seeing that Xueying wouldn't say much, Mingyu stopped talking to her and went to talk to the other wives.

Lanqin's gaze remained fixed on Xueying. Xueying had been looking sullen since leaving the Empress's place. She wondered what Mingyu was saying to her, and it seemed that the relationship between the two was not as simple as she had thought.

"Lanqin, what's wrong?" The Fourth Prince noticed that Lanqin's mind seemed elsewhere at the banquet, and he wondered what she was thinking about. Lanqin came back to her senses when she heard the Fourth Prince's call. "Nothing, I was just thinking about whether I could handle both household affairs and palace affairs at the same time after Hongzhou's wedding."

The Fourth Prince chuckled, "I noticed that you didn't think much about Hongli's future when he got married. Now I'm starting to wonder who your real son is. Don't worry, the daughter-in-law I found for him can definitely manage the household affairs well. He just needs to do his duty." Hearing the Fourth Prince say this, Lanqin realized that she hadn't paid enough attention to Hongli's affairs.

Time passed slowly, and the wedding came to an end. The Fourth Prince had to attend to court affairs, so he didn't go to Changchun Palace with Lanqin and returned to Yangxin Hall first. Although Hongli had been given wine, he had a high tolerance for it and stayed behind to help Geng Shi see the guests off. Everyone was a little tired after leaving the princes' quarters, so they all returned to their own residences.

After thanking Lanqin, Lady Geng led the three of them back to Changchun Palace. She was eager to know some things.

Changchun Palace wasn't far from the prince's residence, so the three of them walked back. Hongli and Mingyu stood on Lanqin's side, while Xueying stood beside Mingyu.

"Hongli, I saw you drank a lot of wine just now. Do you feel unwell?" Hongli's face was flushed, but his steps were still steady. "Replying to Mother, I am fine and do not feel unwell."

The four chatted as they walked, but Xueying didn't participate in the interaction, only saying a word or two when Lanqin asked her a question. Lanqin noticed all of this but remained silent.
