Chapter 3396 Grassland

This journey lasted for more than ten days. They often endured harsh weather and slept outdoors, yet Xueying and A'luo, two delicate young women, dared not utter a single complaint. Only then did they truly understand the sacrifices the soldiers made to protect their country.

When they were almost at the Northwest Camp, the people who came to greet them were the personal guards sent by General Shen. It turned out that after Fourth Master appointed Shen Binian, he was ready to set off for the Northwest Camp.

The welcoming party led the Seventeenth Prince, Hongli, and their accompanying soldiers in carriages towards the Northwest Camp. This was the heart of a valley, beyond which lay the grasslands.

Xueying and Alu occasionally peeked out of the carriage window to look at the scenery outside. It was the first time for both of them to come to such a remote place, and they were captivated by the magnificent scenery that was so different from the inland areas.

"I never imagined the borderlands could be so beautiful!" Xueying exclaimed, lifting the curtain slightly.

“Yes, I’ve never seen such a magnificent sight before!” A’Luo exclaimed, unable to look away.

"If I could spend my whole life wandering around this place with my soulmate, wouldn't that be a wonderful thing?" Xueying sighed.

They finally arrived, and Xueying was settled in the rear tent. It turned out that the soldiers of this Northwest Camp all lived in tents. They had no fixed residences and had to move at any time in case of enemy activity.

"Oh, my lady, we've finally settled down. I've never ridden in a carriage for so long before, it was so bumpy I could hardly stand it." A'Luo was so happy when she saw that the tent assigned to her was very spacious, with a bed and a table inside. She almost cried.

“That’s how it is outside, nothing like the capital. Now that I think about it, we used to live in the mansion, where we had no worries about food, clothing, or shelter. It was all thanks to the hard work of these people,” Xueying said.

"Yes, Master, please sit down and rest. I'll help you tidy up your things," A'Luo said.

"You don't need to pack anymore. If war breaks out, those things won't be easy to put away, so it's better not to spread them out," Xueying said. "We didn't come here for sightseeing."

“Alright then. Mistress, I’ll go fetch some water for you to wash your face,” A’Luo said.

Xueying nodded, and A'luo went out.

Xueying couldn't help but lift the tent flap and stand at the doorway, looking around. All around were faintly visible mountains and grasslands.

"The wind blows the grass low, revealing cattle and sheep."

Xueying couldn't help but recite an ancient poem. Then she began to walk towards the grassland. The grass on the grassland grew so tall that it reached up to her waist in some places.

"Stop! You can't just walk around like that! Go back!"

Suddenly, a row of guards blocked Xueying's path.

“I want to go up there and take a look,” Xueying said stubbornly, pointing to the grassland that was so close at hand.

“There are wolves over there. This grassland looks beautiful, but it’s actually fraught with danger. Wolves and leopards live here. You can’t just wander around,” the soldier said firmly.

Xueying then withdrew her lingering gaze, looked at the grassland with reluctance, and then walked back.

When she returned to her tent, Aro greeted her.

"Master, where did you run off to? You scared me to death!" A'Luo grabbed Xueying's hand and said.

"It's nothing, I just went over there to take a look," Xueying quickly comforted A'luo when she saw her anxious expression.

“My lord, the Prince just came by and said he has something to discuss with you, but you weren’t here,” A’luo said.
