Gao and Su had no choice but to leave the main courtyard first.
"Xiyue, the Fujin is pregnant. You'll be even busier from now on," Madam Su said casually.
But Gao felt that she was being mocked for being busy taking care of the Fujin's affairs and that her belly was still not showing any signs of pregnancy. So she couldn't help but say, "Yes, sister is so lucky."
Seeing Gao's displeasure, Madam Su quickly said, "Xiyue, if you're busy, I can help you out."
Madam Gao quickly said, "Sister still has to take care of Yongzhang, so I won't trouble you any further. Xiyue remembered that she still has things to do, so she will take her leave first."
After saying that, Madam Gao helped her maid Yin'er walk away and left first.
"Princess, did Princess Gao misunderstand you just now?" Xiao Mu asked Madam Su. After Xiao Mu was imprisoned by Madam Su for a few days, she begged for mercy, and Madam Su released her. The two, mistress and servant, no longer had any awkwardness.
"She might really have something on her mind. Xiao Mu, let's go back!" Madam Su didn't want to think about it anymore and hurriedly walked towards Qiushui Pavilion.
"Princess, Su Gege is really interesting. She has a son, and she still wants to get some of the power to manage the household from you." Yin'er said with a pout when she saw that Madam Gao was unhappy.
"She dares to dream, but I won't let her help me." Madam Gao sneered. "Now that the Princess Consort is pregnant, all the power in the inner quarters will be in my hands."
“Princess, this is a great opportunity,” Yin’er said. “You can cultivate some of your own trusted servants. That’s what Madam taught you before. The most important thing in managing a household is to win over the hearts of your servants.”
“I know. Now that the Fujin is pregnant, I’m afraid she won’t be targeting the Consort anymore. Su’s heart is set on Yongzhang. This is the perfect opportunity for me to win people’s hearts.” Gao Shi suddenly stopped feeling unhappy.
"Princess, the title of Consort hasn't been officially granted yet. Su Gege and Gege are still the same person," Yin'er reminded her.
"She gave birth to a son, and the Prince has granted her a title. What other changes could there be?" Madam Gao said, her displeasure rising again.
“Princess, what if she is accused of murdering the child in the wife’s womb? Will the prince still favor her and still grant her the status of a concubine?” Yin’er asked.
Lady Gao was startled by her trusted maid's words; it was indeed a method, and a very good one at that.
"Yin'er, come on, let's go over there and talk. If you can come up with this great idea for me, I'll reward you handsomely!" said Madam Gao.
The master and servant went to a pavilion in the back garden.
News of Mingyu's pregnancy reached Changchun Palace. Lanqin, who was still worried about Hongli, was immediately comforted upon hearing the news and promptly instructed Cui Niang to select two of the best maternity nurses to serve Mingyu at her residence. Upon hearing of Mingyu's pregnancy, the Fourth Prince bestowed many gifts upon her, which, along with Lanqin's maternity nurses and nourishing items, were sent to Hongli's residence.
Mingyu felt much better when she saw the palace's rewards arrive so quickly. She had felt a pang of jealousy when Su Shi received Lanqin's favor, but now that she had received rewards from her mother-in-law's two maternity nurses, as well as several boxes of precious tonics, she was even happier.
Lanqin considered that Mingyu was pregnant and it was not appropriate to tell her about Hongli's injury, so she did not tell her. In order to help Hongli recover as soon as possible, Lanqin wrote about Mingyu's pregnancy in her letter to him.
