Upon seeing Qingluo enter, Hongzhou immediately stood up, staring intently at her with eyes that seemed to spit fire. Qingluo trembled under Hongzhou's gaze, but she still braced herself and came to the table.
"I didn't know it was Prince Hongzhou who came. Please forgive my rudeness." Qingluo came to the table and saw Hongzhou stand up. She immediately bowed and greeted him. She was terrified and couldn't guess what Prince Hongzhou wanted with her in such a menacing manner.
Hongzhou snorted and glanced sideways at Qingluo. He thought to himself, "This prostitute... when I first met her, I even took pity on her and gave her a good reward. Otherwise, she wouldn't have the chance to be so smug here today. I thought I'd gotten rid of her and never see her again, but who knew I'd run into her again at the He family's Juxian Pavilion? What a coincidence! She must have revealed her identity, causing the He family to deliberately refuse to see her, trying to raise their prices and make a quick buck. I, Hongzhou, am not so easily bullied. A prostitute dares to oppose a prince? I'll see what kind of nonsense this Qingluo has in store for me."
Qingluo noticed that Hongzhou's expression was unfriendly and that he hadn't acknowledged her earlier greeting, so she tentatively asked, "I wonder if Fifth Prince has something important to discuss with you, given your serious expression? Is there some royal relative you need me to entertain, or perhaps I have offended you in some way? Please forgive me, Your Highness." Seeing that Hongzhou didn't answer, Qingluo continued to ask him one question after another, as she really couldn't figure out what Hongzhou had come for.
Hongzhou suddenly darted forward and rushed to Qingluo, grabbing her arm. "Why did you reveal my identity to the eldest young master of the He family? How much did he give you?" Hongzhou's eyes were sharp as he stared into Qingluo's eyes, and the strength of his grip made Qingluo frown slightly.
Qingluo immediately understood why Hongzhou had come to find her. A hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, followed by a self-deprecating smile. It turned out that all her thoughts during that journey had been so absurd. She had never imagined that the Prince had come to interrogate her.
Qingluo immediately retorted sarcastically, "I hope Fifth Prince will be discerning. I have not revealed a single piece of information about you, Prince. You are flattering me."
Hongzhou angrily said, "If it wasn't you who leaked the information, then who else could it be? Why would the eldest young master of the He family suddenly go back on his word and abruptly terminate the deal?"
Seeing Hongzhou's angry expression, Qingluo timidly said to him, "The person who revealed the Fifth Prince's identity was really not Qingluo. Whether you believe it or not is up to you, Prince. Qingluo has no way to defend herself."
Hongzhou stared at Qingluo, his grip on her hand loosening considerably. He asked, "That person really wasn't you?" His tone was less of a question and more of a doubt. Hongzhou was beginning to doubt his own judgment, but that day was too coincidental, forcing him to suspect that Qingluo was the one who revealed his identity. If it was her, why would she do such a thing? If not, then who was it?
Seeing that Hongzhou's expression had softened somewhat, Qingluo bluntly stated that she was merely a prostitute and how dare she oppose the Prince. Hongzhou glanced at Qingluo again, and after a moment's thought, he realized that Qingluo's words made some sense. He had previously been puzzled as to why Qingluo, for whom he had done a favor, would act in this way.
“Since it wasn’t you who said it, then this Prince has misunderstood,” Hongzhou said, releasing her.
