Chapter 58 How dare you feed me your leftovers!

Fourth Master turned his head again, staring at Lanqin's somewhat greasy face, wishing he could pinch her cheeks. But in his heart, he thought: She's a little thing who knows how to plan ahead. She's thinking about not holding me back when we're in danger, but why does it sound a little uncomfortable?

Lanqin met his gaze and immediately said, "Master, you can climb trees if you're not afraid of losing face. I just feel that if you have to fight a wild beast, I can't be a burden to you!"

Seeing the look in Fourth Master's eyes, Lanqin knew that what she had just said had made him misunderstand, so she immediately tried to make amends.

"It's almost burnt! If you don't flip it over soon!" Fourth Master flipped the roasted rabbit in his hands again and again. "So you're the kind of person who would risk his life for the sake of saving face?"

"Oh no! We've stepped on a landmine." Lanqin sighed inwardly, but could only reply, "Master is the smartest; he naturally knows how to assess the situation."

Fourth Master turned his face to the side again, glanced at Lanqin, and thought to himself: She's quite the talker.

The aroma began to waft out, and Lanqin couldn't help but swallow her saliva drop by drop. Fourth Master looked completely absorbed, utterly oblivious to how much Lanqin had been wanting to eat.

"It should be ready to eat now, right?" Lanqin asked, swallowing hard.

"Grill it a little longer. It looks cooked on the outside, but it's still raw inside." Fourth Master seemed to realize that Lanqin's stomach was already empty, so he removed one of the pheasant legs and handed it to her.

"Thank you, sir. I'll start eating now." Lanqin took the chicken leg with a hearty bite and took a big bite.

The Fourth Master's lips curled slightly as he watched her eat, her mouth glistening with oil. He teased, "You can eat chicken this well even without salt?"

With her mouth full of chicken, Lanqin chewed as she replied, "Master, I'm starving. Would you like a bite?"

After saying that, Lanqin, disregarding whether the Fourth Master disliked it or not, handed the chicken leg, which she had already bitten half of, to the Fourth Master's mouth.

No one has ever dared to hand over half-eaten food before! What an incredibly bold little thing! Fourth Master stared at that chicken leg for several seconds.

Lanqin looked at Fourth Master's conflicted expression, and suddenly seemed to realize something. She quickly withdrew her hand, then, while still holding the chicken leg in her mouth, she started to pull at the pheasant's other leg.

"Eat up, sir!" Lanqin held a chicken leg she had just torn off in one hand and the chicken leg she had already eaten more than half of in the other.

This time, Fourth Master accepted the order and, under Lanqin's watchful gaze, silently began to eat.

"Hehe, was he rejected just now?" Lanqin thought to herself as she munched on a chicken leg. But she also understood that Fourth Master was born into a noble family and had never eaten anything that others had eaten before! Thinking of this, her slight unease immediately vanished.

Seeing Lanqin biting into a chicken leg and picking at the roasted chicken, her little face was clearly no longer beaming with joy.

Is the little thing unhappy? Just because I didn't take that chicken leg? Fourth Master glanced at Lanqin silently.

The pheasant and rabbit were roasted. Lanqin tore off a rabbit leg, muttering to herself, "Little rabbit, hurry up and be reborn. I'm going to eat you!"

"Here, Master, please eat." This time, Lanqin didn't eat first; she respectfully handed the rabbit leg to the Fourth Master.

If it were any other woman, she would probably let the Fourth Master eat first at this moment.

I just ate the chicken leg first in such a careless way, and then handed it to him after I had bitten it. Isn't that a bit too rude?

Thinking of this, Lanqin sighed inwardly and handed the rabbit leg to Fourth Master first.

Fourth Master took the rabbit leg, took a bite, then brought it to Lanqin's lips and uttered a single word in a deep voice: "Eat!"

This was already his absolute limit. As rigid as the Fourth Prince was, from the time he could remember, he had never eaten anything that someone else had bitten, nor would he ever hand over something he had bitten. His mother, the Empress Dowager, taught him to be "a gentleman, always mindful of propriety"; his wet nurse instructed him, "As the son of the Emperor, you cannot behave like an ordinary person"; and the Consort De instructed him, "As a prince, you must be careful in your words and actions!"

Feeding one's concubines like this would likely be reprimanded, at the very least seen as "not following the proper path, indulging in frivolous pleasures!" Although they assigned him one concubine after another, their purpose was to produce offspring for the royal family, not to encourage him to indulge in sensual pleasures in his boudoir.

Lanqin glanced at Fourth Master in surprise, a glint of light appearing in her eyes. She opened her mouth demurely, took a small bite of the rabbit leg, and then began to chew it sweetly with a smile on her face.

Fourth Master simply shoved the rabbit leg into her hand and turned back to concentrate on roasting it.

Lanqin took the rabbit leg with a grin, eating it while glancing at Fourth Master; his expression just now was truly hilarious.

After dinner, Lanqin was no longer afraid at all.

She stood up, stretched, and looked up to find the starry sky incredibly beautiful.

On the pitch-black night sky, diamond-like stars dotted the black velvet-like night sky.

"Master, do you know the North Star?" Lanqin suddenly thought of a way to get to the forest, but as soon as she finished speaking, her heart skipped a beat.

The term "Polaris" seems to be a relatively recent one; it would be strange if the Fourth Prince knew it!

As expected, Fourth Master also stood up, walked behind Lanqin, and looked up at the sky like her: "What North Star?"

Forehead……

"Sir, I once read a book that a Western missionary gave me. It told me about constellations. They said the stars in the sky are divided into many categories and constellations. Each star has its own name! The North Star is a rather special star." Lanqin said patiently, intending to teach Fourth Master about constellations and star systems, since he had nowhere else to look it up.

"Are you talking about constellations? I've read about the celestial palaces and constellations in the Book of Changes. But I've never heard of any 'North Star'!" Fourth Master said.

"Polaris is what Western astronomers call it." Lanqin originally wanted to say "astronomer," but changed her mind and said "sorcerer" instead.

"Oh, is there anything special about it?" Fourth Master walked past her to Lanqin's left, and the two of them stood side by side, looking up at the dense stars in the sky.

"This star is called 'Polaris' because it is close to the north of the Earth." Lanqin felt she couldn't continue, and the more she talked, the more she would get herself into trouble, and modern words would unconsciously slip out of her mouth.

Damn it, my brain just can't process this! How am I supposed to translate modern vocabulary into words that the Fourth Prince can understand?!
