Chapter 887 The Deal

Prince Zhi stared at the crazed woman beneath him, then pressed down heavily on her again. The two of them intertwined like two primal beasts.

If the previous encounter on horseback was done impulsively by Prince Zhi, then this time, he was completely calm as he passionately and fiercely entangled with this woman who was both fiery and icy.

The sunset on the grassland is incredibly beautiful. The enormous sun, like a giant egg yolk, hangs low above the distant mountains, as if one could reach out and touch it if they stood there.

Holding his baby in his arms, Prince Zhi gazed at the setting sun and couldn't help but recall an ancient poem:

A lone rider seeks the border, passing through the vassal state of Juyan. Like a tumbleweed, he departs from the Han frontier; like a returning wild goose, he enters the land of the barbarians.

A lone plume of smoke rises straight from the desert, the setting sun hangs round over the long river. At Xiaoguan Pass, I meet a scout; the Protector-General is at Yanran.

He muttered to himself, his eyes revealing a hint of the tragic heroism and passionate fervor of soldiers going to war.

"You just want to kill Gerdan with your own hands? All you need is for me to do this for you?" A mocking smile played on the lips of the Prince of Zhi.

“Of course, that’s not all. I also aspire to become the Queen Mother of the Nation,” Bao Yue said with a smile.

"Where has there ever been a female Khan? I'm afraid your tribe wouldn't agree to it." Prince Zhi knew she wasn't a woman content to stay in the inner quarters, but he hadn't expected her ambitions to be so great.

"My brothers have all been killed, I must become the Female Khan. Your Highness, if Baoyue becomes the Female Khan, your son will be the next Khan, won't he?" Baoyue reached out and touched her belly. The old emperor was no match for the young and vigorous Prince Zhi.

Prince Zhi's pupils contracted slightly, and his expression suddenly became somewhat strange. After a moment, he said, "How do you know he is my son and not my brother?"

The woman in his arms changed her expression upon hearing this. She abruptly climbed out of the Prince's arms, turned around, and stared at him, saying, "I said he's your son, so he is your son. Your father, the Emperor, has hardly ever touched me, and every time he made me drink that awful contraceptive soup."

Upon hearing this, Prince Zhi was greatly shocked. He stared at Bao Yue, and for a moment, he felt ashamed that he, as a man, was not as ruthless as her because of the decisiveness and courage she exuded.

"Your Highness, now you understand. I want to give birth to your son, so you must help me take revenge and help me become Khan, so that our child can become the next Khan." Baoyue touched the face of the Prince Zhi with reverence, her tone becoming extremely gentle.

When Prince Zhi returned to his tent, he saw his personal eunuch being forced to kneel on the ground as punishment.

"Oh my, Your Highness, you've finally returned." The eunuch was named Zhou Cheng, and he had served Prince Zhi for many years.

"Why are you kneeling here?" When Prince Zhi saw Zhou Cheng kneeling at the entrance of his tent, his heart tightened and he hurriedly asked.

"Your Highness, you're finally back. The Emperor sent someone to invite you, but you weren't here. This servant didn't know when you would return, so I was punished by kneeling here, waiting for your return." Zhou Cheng had a bitter face. He didn't know how long he had been kneeling. The Prince had run away around lunchtime.

"Alright, get up." Prince Zhi hurriedly went towards Emperor Kangxi's imperial tent.

As they approached the tent entrance, they were stopped by the guards standing at the entrance.

"What are you doing?" Prince Zhi asked angrily.

"His Majesty has decreed that all funds must be reported before being deposited. Please understand, Prince Zhi," the guard said neither humbly nor arrogantly.

"Then hurry up and go in to report," Prince Zhi said without saying anything more to him.

When the guards entered, Kangxi was having dinner with several princes. It turned out that Kangxi had spent the afternoon discussing the battle plan with his ministers and confidants. He had originally asked Liang Jiugong to call for Prince Zhi, but he couldn't find him at all.

"Your Majesty, the Prince of Zhi requests an audience!" Liang Jiugong reported after hearing the guard's words from the tent entrance.

Kangxi looked up at Liang Jiugong and said, "Let him in."

Prince Zhi entered the tent through the opening that Liang Jiugong had made. He saw Emperor Kangxi, along with the Third Prince, the Eighth Prince, the Ninth Prince, and of course the Tenth Prince, finishing their meal.

"Where did you go, brother? Father Emperor has been looking for you all afternoon but couldn't find you," the Tenth Prince said with a simple and honest smile.

Kangxi did not speak, but merely glanced at Prince Zhi a few times before continuing to eat under the servants' service.

"Reporting to Your Majesty, I went outside and secretly scouted the enemy's deployment. I acted rashly without informing Your Majesty beforehand, and I beg Your Majesty to punish me!" Prince Zhi knelt on one knee and bowed to Emperor Kangxi.

"Oh. What results did you see?" Kangxi paused and asked.

"Your Majesty, I have noticed that something seems to be going on with the people of the northern deserts. People and carriages are constantly going in and out of their camp." Prince Zhi had begun observing the Zhungeer army a few days ago.

Kangxi's expression softened considerably, and he said calmly, "Come and have your meal. You can't just go there whenever you want in the future. If someone finds out, they'll have something on you. If Father Emperor is controlled by someone because of you, that will be extremely detrimental to our Great Qing."

"Your subject was rash and will not act in this way again. Please punish me, Father Emperor," said Prince Zhi, a sigh of relief escaping his lips.

Emperor Kangxi enjoyed a pleasant dinner with his sons. Afterward, he dismissed them and summoned Consort Wang and her two sons, the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Princes, to accompany him.

The eighteenth prince was only six years old, and the nineteenth prince was four years old. These two young sons were the apple of Kangxi's eye. When facing the other adult princes, Kangxi felt that he was gradually getting old, so he gradually began to be suspicious and wary of the adult princes. Only when he was with these two young sons did Kangxi feel that he was still the ambitious Emperor Kangxi, and still the support for his children and all the women in the harem.

As for Prince Zhi, after returning to his tent, he summoned Lady Wang to serve him. He knew that his father, the Emperor, was gradually losing trust in him, as were the Crown Prince and others. Therefore, he had to do everything in his power to dispel his father's suspicions.

After Lady Wang arrived, Prince Zhi only had her serve him his washing and then told him to go to bed. He himself sat at his desk and read a few volumes of military strategy before going to bed. Although Lady Wang was by his side, after his intimate encounter with Bao Yue, Prince Zhi had no interest in her at all.

Meanwhile, when Baoyue returned to her tent, unlike Prince Zhi, no one questioned her about where she had been all afternoon; Kangxi had given her her freedom.
