The Fujin, supporting Lingxiu's hand, walked to the entrance of the main hall of the Yehe clan, only to see Yuhen and Yulu guarding the door.
"Princess Yehe is ill. Why don't you ask me, the Fujin, to call a doctor?" The Fujin suddenly said when she saw that the two maids had their backs to her.
The room had been quiet until the Princess Consort's sudden outburst startled the two maids. They quickly composed themselves and rushed over to pay their respects.
"Your Majesty, please save our Princess! She's critically ill, yet she won't let us ask you for help. Waaah, looking at her, it seems...it seems she's seriously ill..." Yu Lu couldn't help but cry. Yehe's illness had truly come on suddenly; it seemed like she'd fallen ill just a few days ago. She was trembling all over, even having fluid dripping from her mouth and nose. Her condition fluctuated wildly, sometimes listless, sometimes full of energy. At times, she felt as if she were possessed by a thousand insects, scratching her ears and cheeks in agony.
Lingxiu listened and exchanged a glance with the Fujin, as if the change in Yehe Shi was within their expectations.
"Alright, I'm already here, let's go in and see Princess Yehe." The princess shook the handkerchief in her hand and walked towards Princess Yehe's bedroom.
"Peach Blossom, Peach Blossom~ Hurry, I can't take it anymore!!" A sharp scream suddenly came from the house.
Immediately following was the sound of Peach Blossom and Lotus holding Yehe back: "Princess, Princess, drink this bowl of water, and you won't be in so much pain."
The Fujin looked at the seemingly deranged Yehe Shi in Tao Hua's arms. In just over ten days, she had completely changed. Her eyes were sunken, and her hair was casually draped over her shoulders. She bore no resemblance whatsoever to the woman who had been so talented.
"Peach Blossom, what's wrong with your princess?" the Fujin asked with a look of regret. Looking at Yehe's current state, which seemed to be on the verge of madness, it was as if she felt endless regret.
"Fujin, Fujin!!" When Yehe Shi saw that Fujin was standing at her door, she suddenly felt a surge of energy and tried to break free from Taohua and Hehua's embrace.
"Princess Yehe, what's wrong? How did you become like this?" The Fujin walked up to Yehe and raised her hand, which was covered with enamel-gilded nail guards, to stroke Yehe's face, which was so thin that only her chin remained.
"My lady, I feel terrible. Quickly, give me that water to drink, quick!" Yehe's eyes were filled with tears, and she seemed to have gone mad.
"Peach Blossom, pour a cup of tea for your princess. Be careful to use warm water, so as not to scald her," the Fujin said to Peach Blossom.
Peach Blossom understood, released Yehe, and went out to pour tea.
Yehe seemed to have calmed down by then, though her hands were still trembling uncontrollably. When Taohua brought her the tea, she drank it all in one gulp, seemingly still savoring the taste.
After drinking the tea, Yehe gradually calmed down and returned to normal. Suddenly, she saw the Fujin standing in her room, while she was dressed in plain clothes with her hair hanging down to her waist. She immediately knelt down nervously to apologize to the Fujin.
"Your Highness, I seem to have been poisoned. Please summon a doctor to see what's wrong with me." Yehe Shi knew she had suddenly fallen seriously ill, but once the initial symptoms wore off, she seemed to return to normal. She truly couldn't understand what was happening.
"How did you feel when the illness started? Were you unconscious?" the princess asked.
"When the illness strikes, I feel as if countless ants are crawling all over my body, and my heart feels as if it's being pierced by a thousand arrows. But as long as I get through an hour or two, that feeling disappears," Yehe said in a panic. Her eyes were filled with the fear of surviving a disaster, but the thought of that unbearable pain made her almost unable to endure it again.
"Peach Blossom, you and Lotus go out. I need to have a proper talk with Princess Ye and don't want to be disturbed by anyone," the Princess said to Peach Blossom.
Peach Blossom and Lotus Blossom bowed their heads and left, turning around and closing the door behind them as they reached the doorway. Jade Trace and Jade Dew, as if they were already frightened by Yehe's strange behavior these past few days, only dared to serve her from outside and dared not approach her.
Inside the room, the Fujin was already sitting in a high-backed chair by the window, calmly looking at the astonished Yehe clan.
"Do you understand now? If I tell you to go east, you must not go west. As long as you listen to me, that thing will be delivered to you on time," the princess said.
Yehe looked at the Fujin with complicated emotions. She knew that siding with her would come at a price. But she never expected the Fujin to poison her. Wasn't she afraid that Yehe would report her to the Fourth Prince?
"You must be thinking of going to the Fourth Prince to report me for poisoning you?" The Princess Consort seemed to have seen through Yehe's thoughts.
"I have always obeyed the Fujin, why does the Fujin still harm me like this?" Yehe looked at the Fujin, her heart filled with hatred for the Fujin more than ever before.
“If you truly submit to me, why have you hesitated to take action against Niohuru? I have given you many opportunities, but you have disappointed me greatly,” the princess said.
"Didn't I already cooperate with Wu to make her lose her mind, causing her to accidentally fall on a stone and bump into Niohuru? She was just lucky." Yehe felt a chill in her heart. She never expected that because of this, the Fujin had silently planted such a terrible poison in her body.
"That was also my design. As for yourself, have you ever put any effort into dealing with Niohuru? I dislike those who are fickle the most. Do you think I can't see that you're leaning towards Niohuru?" The princess stared at Yehe.
"I only wanted to gain her trust temporarily. Without her trust, how could I get close to her, how could I find an opportunity to get rid of her? Why is the Fujin so impatient? Why haven't you been able to get rid of her all these years?" Yehe Shi hated the Fujin to the core, but she had no other choice.
"How would I know if you're just using this as a pretext for something else? Only by completely controlling you will you work for me. The Fourth Prince isn't in the manor right now, and Lady Niohuru was just knocked down outside and is now in bed. Think about how to get rid of the child in her womb. If you can accomplish this for me, I will cure you of the poison," the princess said.
Yehe stared at the Fujin (principal wife), though she didn't believe a word she said, she truly had no other choice. Just thinking about the excruciating pain of being pierced by a thousand arrows sent a shiver down Yehe's spine.
"I will think about it, but please, Madam, send the antidote every day. I can no longer bear that feeling," Yehe said silently, swallowing a mouthful of nausea.
