Chapter 1968 Dayuan

Perhaps both of them were naturally easygoing, because their embarrassment and shyness only lasted a short while. Wuxiha was no longer ashamed and turned around to ask, "Who exactly are you? I just heard you say that you are from Dayuan?"

Seeing that she asked the question formally, Suhari said, "I am a merchant from Dayuan. I heard that your Central Plains are prosperous, so I came here to see for myself. Indeed, you not only have abundant tea, but also a lot of silk. However, the people here are all a bit reserved, not as forthright as we Dayuan people."

"Where is your Dayuan?" Wuxiha asked curiously.

“It’s just west of the Qing Dynasty, almost there after crossing the Tianshan Mountains,” Suhari said, blinking his blue eyes.

“The sky used to be the meadows of the Turks, where is there any Dayuan Kingdom?” Ushiha said. She usually read geological miscellaneous books and the like, so when Suhari mentioned the Tianshan Mountains, she immediately realized what was going on.

Suhari glanced at Ushiha and couldn't help but look at this woman with even greater disdain. She was indeed no ordinary Qing woman; she even knew geography.

“After crossing those meadows and then climbing over a few snow-capped mountains, we’ll arrive,” Suhari said, this time speaking honestly.

“That’s a long way off. I’ve heard that there’s the Yuezhi Kingdom over there, and Loulan beyond the desert, and then Iran and Turkey,” Usuha said. “However, I’ve heard that Loulan no longer exists, and the Yuezhi Kingdom has been destroyed. So, who is the king in your area now?” Usuha asked.

Suhari had to look at Ushiha with new respect; what she knew was beyond what an ordinary Qing Dynasty person would generally know.

"Currently, our Dayuan Kingdom can stand alone, but the Persians, Turks, Iranians, and Turks frequently harass us. The Yuezhi and Loulan are indeed gone, but their remnants occupy separate territories, constantly fighting and causing immense suffering to the people. Fortunately, our Dayuan Kingdom is strong and has not yet been bullied by them," Suhari said solemnly, his earlier nonchalant demeanor completely gone as he spoke.

Susiha listened very attentively. After hearing what Suhari said, she sketched out all the places outside the Tianshan Mountains in her mind.

“Dayuan must strengthen its troops to resist these wolves and tigers,” Suhari said with a frown.

Ushiha stared at him, somewhat mesmerized! Even when he frowned, he was still incredibly handsome.

“You’re a merchant, I’m afraid it must be very difficult to do business in a place like that. With constant war and people suffering, where would there be any merchants?” Ushiha said.

“That’s not necessarily true. The more war-torn the place, the more active the merchants become. That’s the principle behind making money off war.” Suhari’s brows furrowed even more. He wasn’t referring to himself, but to the unscrupulous merchants of Dayuan who betrayed their country for personal gain.

But Susiha, hearing this, thought he was being talked about himself and couldn't help but say with disdain, "Such a merchant is too shameless. Not only does he not do anything that benefits the country, but he also takes this opportunity to make a fortune from the war. He is simply shameless."

Is he really that kind of person? What a pity!

Suhari noticed that Susiha's gaze was a little strange, and realized that she had misunderstood him. He quickly said, "I am a legitimate businessman. The people you were talking about were other people."
