Chapter 48 Empress Xiaoyiren

Time slipped away quietly as Yunyi cared for her child and spent her postpartum period.

During this period, Kangxi would come over every day. Although Yunyi was in confinement after childbirth and the two could not meet due to the rules, Kangxi still insisted on visiting her every day, showing concern for his cousin even though they were separated by the door.

Besides visiting his cousin, he also visits the two newborn babies every day. Under these circumstances, the bond between the two babies and him as father and daughter grows stronger day by day.

A month passed in the blink of an eye, and Yunyi finally finished her postpartum confinement. With the help of the palace maids, she couldn't wait to get into the bath. She felt like she was going to stink after not taking a bath for a month.

Although she wiped her body with a handkerchief during her postpartum period, she didn't actually wash with water, and Yunyi always felt something was off, as if her body wasn't very clean.

Finally, Yunyi could take a shower. She used three large buckets of water before she felt a little cleaner.

After washing up and changing into her new nightgown, Yunyi first teased her daughter before taking over to play with her son.

Over the past month, the two little ones have grown incredibly fast. Their skin has shed its previous red and wrinkled appearance, becoming fair and delicate. They have a pair of slender, almond-shaped eyes that are beautiful and full of charm. Thanks to their meticulous feeding, their cheeks are chubby and they are extremely cute.

The baby in my arms was quiet and well-behaved, neither crying nor fussing.

After spending a month together, Yunyi got to know her two children's personalities. Her daughter was more spoiled and domineering. Whenever she felt uncomfortable, she would burst into tears, as if to tell everyone that she was not feeling well.

The son, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. He only whines a few times when he's hungry or needs to pee; otherwise, he's very quiet and plays by himself, making him very easy to take care of.

"His Majesty has arrived!" Inside the house, the mother and her two children were enjoying a warm and cozy time, but suddenly a eunuch's voice came from outside the door announcing the arrival.

Kangxi strode into the inner hall and saw Yunyi carrying a child rushing over. She helped her cousin, who was about to bow, and Kangxi put his arm around her and walked inside.

Seeing his cousin holding the little prince, Kangxi took the little princess from the wet nurse and affectionately held and teased her.

While holding the child, Kangxi spoke to Yunyi.

"The two children will be a month old tomorrow. I have suggested names. Cousin, would you like to hear them?"

Yunyi looked up, somewhat curious, "Cousin, please tell me."

"The prince is named Yinzhen. The character Zhen means to move the gods with sincerity and receive blessings. The little princess is very lucky, so she is named Hutuling'a, which means a blessed person in Manchu."

After Kangxi finished speaking, he added, "Both of their names carry the meaning of good fortune, which is fitting for their status as twins."

Upon hearing the name Yinzhen, Yunyi's heart trembled slightly. She hadn't expected that, after all the twists and turns, the child would still have this name.

Yunyi felt a little bothered by the name. Wu Yaxinyue had taken the original owner's child but hadn't treated him well, always favoring her own son and showing no maternal love for this "biological son" she had taken.

Yunyi originally thought that because she had transmigrated and changed some things, the child would have a different name and a beautiful, loving life. But she never expected…

I sighed inwardly. Well, it's good to use my old name and start a new life. It's a way of saying goodbye to the past.

Yunyi tightened her grip on the child, having made up her mind.

Son, from now on, you are the new Yinzhen. Your mother will give you all her love and let you grow up happily.

After thinking about her son, Yunyi then turned her attention to her daughter's name.

Looking at her daughter smiling sweetly in Kangxi's arms, Yunyi was quite satisfied with the name Hutu Ling'a. She was a blessed person and hoped that her daughter would live up to her name, be a lucky person, and live a happy and peaceful life.

"The name my cousin chose is excellent; I like it very much," Yunyi replied to Kangxi with a slight smile.

"Yinzhen, Yinzhen, did you hear that? This is the name your father gave you. Do you like it?" Yunyi teased her son while holding him.

The child in her arms remained quiet and still, so no one knew that this seemingly young infant was experiencing a turbulent storm within.

Yinzhen! I never imagined that in this second life, I would be reborn as a mother, yet still be called by this name.

The woman before him had a loving face and cared for him deeply; she seemed like a good mother. His memories suddenly overlapped with those of his past life.

Yinzhen still remembered that she had cared for him in the same way when he was a child. Unfortunately, she passed away early and he returned to his "biological mother's" side, and he never experienced that kind of affection again.

He could only watch as his "biological mother" favored Fourteen, showing him care and love while remaining indifferent to him.

Thinking about all this, Yinzhen was deeply moved. He thought he had grown up and no longer expected so-called maternal love, but it turned out that deep down he still longed for it.

In her previous life, she was her adoptive mother; in this life, she has become her biological mother.

Yinzhen didn't know why, after he passed away in the Hall of Mental Cultivation, he didn't go to the underworld, but instead returned to the moment of his birth.

He didn't know why his identity hadn't changed, his father hadn't changed, but his mother had.

But after spending a month together, he has placed Yunyi in the most important place in his heart.

Yinzhen told himself that the past is the past, and he should focus on the present and not dwell on the past. Thinking this way, he suddenly felt much lighter and relieved, as if he had let go of the past.

After recounting the names of his two children, Kangxi then spoke of his plans.

Emperor Kangxi lost too many children in his previous life. Yinzhen is now the eleventh prince, but he only has three older brothers still alive.

Emperor Kangxi pondered this for a long time and finally decided to reorder his sons, naming them according to their generational names. As for the princes who had died young, they were not included in the order.
