Chapter 82 Consort Song (11)

Yunyi nearly choked on her tea; she was truly shocked.

Niohuru is too young, only thirteen years old. Isn't that the age of a junior high school student? And she's already getting married.

She knew that Niohuru was young when she entered the household, but she didn't expect her to be this young.

No wonder she had been in the household for several years before she gained favor by serving the ailing Yinzhen and gave birth to the spendthrift Hongli.

This age is indeed too young.

That night, Yinzhen went to Niohuru's room, but came out shortly afterward and went to the front yard to rest.

The next morning, Yunyi got up early to dress up and went to the main courtyard to pay her respects to the Fujin (princess).

Upon arriving at the main courtyard, everyone except the Fujin (princess) was already there.

Yunyi stepped into the main hall and finally met the longest-lived empress dowager of the Qing Dynasty, Niohuru.

However, Niohuru was only a thirteen-year-old girl at the time. She had a round face, was not slender, and was a little chubby. Her appearance was only delicate, but she looked very cheerful and cute.

Not long after Yunyi took her seat, the Fujin (principal wife) came out. As usual, she said a few words and introduced two new princesses before inviting them to come up and serve tea.

Yunyi didn't buy medicine for them this time, mainly because she felt it was unnecessary.

The reason why Hongli, the son of Niohuru, was able to ascend the throne was mainly because his father, Emperor Yongzheng, had too few sons.

After Emperor Yongzheng ascended the throne, he had three sons who reached adulthood: Hongshi, the third prince, born to Consort Qi (née Li); Hongli, the fourth prince, born to Consort Xi (née Niohuru); and Hongzhou, the fifth prince, born to Consort Yu (née Geng).

Emperor Yongzheng chose Hongli as emperor because he was the best among the worst. If he had had more sons, he would not have chosen Hongli, that spendthrift son.

Now, thanks to Yunyi's arrival, history has changed.

Yinzhen now has six sons: the eldest prince Hongyao, the second prince Hongxuan, the third prince Hongjing, and the sixth prince Hongye, all born to Yunyi.

There were also the Fifth Prince Hongyun and the Seventh Prince Hongshi, both born to Lady Li.

With so many sons of Yinzhen, it was impossible for Hongli of the Niohuru clan to ascend the throne.

Therefore, Yunyi did not spend points to buy medicine for Niohuru.

After leaving the main courtyard, everyone else had already left. Geng Shi thought that she and Niu Hulu Shi had entered the mansion together and lived in the same courtyard, so she originally planned to go back with her. However, Niu Hulu Shi wanted to explore the mansion further, so she declined her suggestion.

Geng was not annoyed; since her suggestion was rejected, she went back alone.

Niohuru, accompanied by her personal maid Bitan, strolled leisurely, and as they walked, Bitan told her about the situation in the mansion.

The primary consort was kind and benevolent, and always managed the household fairly; Consort Song was the most favored and had the most children; Consort Li had a bit of a temper, but was not a bad person; Consort Wu was the quietest, and was rarely seen on ordinary days.

As for the other princess...

At this point, Bitan became somewhat hesitant and reluctant to discuss the matter.

This appearance, however, aroused Niohuru's curiosity. "What happened to the other princess?"

Seeing that her master was really curious, Bitan no longer hid it.

She looked around and, seeing that no one was around, leaned close to her master's ear and whispered.

"The other one is Princess Wuya, who entered the manor at the same time as Princess Wu. Back then, she plotted against Consort Li, causing the Fourth Prince to be weak in the womb and die at the age of one. The Prince was furious and confined her to her quarters. She has not been released since."

"Oh! I see. So where is she now?" Niohuru asked, feigning curiosity and wanting to go and see.

Bi Tan was shocked and tried to stop her, but her master was too determined, so she had no choice but to take Niohuru to the vicinity of Lengshuang Courtyard.

"Your Majesty, look over there, that's the Cold Frost Courtyard where Princess Wuya is under house arrest."

Niohuru looked up and saw that the courtyard was very deserted. There were many fallen leaves piled up at the entrance, indicating that no one had cleaned it for a long time. The walls of the courtyard were also full of weeds and were in a mess.

After a quick glance, finding nothing of interest, Lady Niohuru returned home.
