Ruoshu wanted to persuade him further, but Ruoqin, who came in from outside, interrupted her, saying, "Sister Ruoshu, it's good that the master can eat a lot. The more he eats, the better the little prince will grow. It's a sign of good fortune."
With a pursed lip, Ruoqin said with unusual disdain, "You don't know, that Consort Chang in the East Annex Hall has a terrible pregnancy. She's only been pregnant for a little over three months and she's already vomiting everything she eats. She's visibly lost a lot of weight since she got pregnant. You can tell from her body that she's not doing well. How can the baby be healthy after it's born?"
Turning to face Yunyi, Ruoqin spoke lightly, with a hint of relief, "Master, it's a good thing you're finally pregnant. Otherwise, it would have been so much trouble if you had adopted Wuya Changzai's child."
Yunyi rolled her eyes at Ruoqin. "You're such a mischievous brat. You dare to say anything. Have you forgotten the palace rules? Even if Wuya is no good, she's still a mistress. How dare you make up stories about your mistress? Don't you want to die? If you keep talking like this and make a big mistake, what will you do then?"
Ruoqin knelt down to beg for forgiveness, knowing that her mistress meant well, but she was still not convinced. Her tone was a little arrogant as she said, "Mistress, I know I was wrong. I only say these things to you. Once I leave this room, I will be careful and cautious in my actions so as not to violate the palace rules."
Reaching out, Yunyi tapped Ruoqin's forehead and said with a smile, "Alright, I know you're just joking, but these words are ultimately disrespectful. It's best to say less of them. You should be more careful in your daily life and avoid making mistakes."
"I understand, I understand, this servant understands." Ruoqin nodded obediently.
Ruoshu watched from the side with a faint smile and remained silent. Only after the two finished speaking did she step forward to ask Yunyi, "Master, His Majesty is coming tonight. The kitchen staff asked how to arrange the dishes for tonight."
Yunyi thought for a moment. She was pregnant now, and many of the foods she used to like could no longer be eaten because she had to avoid them. After a moment of contemplation, she gave her instructions.
"Let the kitchen staff handle it. Serve a few dishes that I can eat, and the rest should be dishes that my cousin likes. Oh, and let Zhang Mama arrange it. She's given birth before, so she knows what a pregnant woman can and can't eat. Let her go to the kitchen and check it out."
Ruoshu received the order, turned and left to give instructions in the small kitchen.
After finishing his conversation at Cining Palace, Emperor Kangxi bid farewell to Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang with a slight apology and went to Chengqian Palace.
Upon reaching the main gate, he gestured to Liang Jiugong with his eyes, signaling the palace servants to remain silent, and then strode forward into the inner hall.
Yunyi was eating pastries while Ruoqin told jokes to amuse her. When Kangxi walked in, this was the scene he saw. He was a little surprised, walked over and sat down opposite Yunyi, and teased her with a smile, "Oh, what are you laughing at, cousin? You seem so happy."
Startled by Kangxi's sudden entrance, Yunyi stopped her overly cheerful smile, regained her composure, and hurriedly greeted Kangxi, "Your Majesty, I greet you, cousin." Before she could finish speaking, Kangxi helped her up.
"What the hell? Nobody said anything when I came in today. You scared me half to death." Yunyi thought to herself, startled. Kangxi's behavior just now was really a bit frightening. Then Yunyi secretly rejoiced that she hadn't said anything that would have ruined her image, or she would have been in trouble.
Yunyi glanced at Kangxi, smiled, and said coquettishly, "Cousin is so annoying. He came in without announcing himself, scaring me half to death."
"It's my fault, I frightened my cousin." Kangxi said apologetically, pulling Yunyi into his arms.
While being held in someone's arms, Yunyi rolled her eyes silently, out of sight of the others.
After gathering her emotions and recalling all the sad things she had experienced in modern times, Yunyi's eyes slowly filled with tears.
Tears slowly flowed from his eyes, soaking the collar of Kangxi's robe.
A strange feeling came from his chest, which made Kangxi feel a little strange. Slowly, he realized that something was wrong. He lifted the face of the woman in his arms and saw the tear stains that were still wet at the corners of her eyes. He asked in a slightly flustered tone.
"What's wrong? Why are you crying? Is something sad? Tell me, and I'll help you. Don't cry anymore, you're all all grime." Gently wiping away Yunyi's tears, he advised, "You're pregnant now, you can't cry, you'll hurt your eyes."
Yunyi burst into laughter through her tears, feeling a little embarrassed by her earlier behavior. "Your Majesty, Your Majesty, I'm crying tears of joy, not tears of sadness. Just thinking about how I'm pregnant with my cousin's child makes me incredibly happy."
Kangxi cupped his cousin's face, gently pinched her nose, and smiled indulgently. "Silly girl, being pregnant is a joyous occasion. You mustn't cry, not even tears of joy. I told you long ago that the child would come sooner or later. Look, it's here now. You should be happy, but you're not allowed to cry."
"Yes! I know, I'm sorry to have made you laugh, cousin." Yunyi responded softly, then buried her head in Kangxi's arms again.
Kangxi found it amusing. "Alright, alright, you're going to be a mother soon, yet you're still so childish." He patted Yunyi's head, his tone full of affection.
"Hmph, even if I become a mother, after I give birth, my cousin can't like the child more than me, or I won't stand for it." In order to create the image of Consort Tong as charming, cute, and innocent, Yun Yi suppressed her disgust and said these words.
Kangxi was used to this and skillfully coaxed his cousin, "Alright, alright, my favorite is my cousin. Even the little princes and princesses can't compare to the weight my cousin holds in my heart. Is that alright?"
"Well, since you've made such a promise, cousin, you must keep your word." With the promise, Yunyi feigned satisfaction and finally let Kangxi off the hook, and of course, she also let herself off the hook.
