Chapter 100 Assassination (Part 1)

The two walked into the courtyard together.

The villa was still as serene and elegant as she remembered, but it was early spring, and the flowers and trees in the courtyard had just sprouted, so they were less vibrant than when she last visited, but more full of life.

"The rice seeds Your Highness needs have been prepared and are stored in the warehouse in the backyard," Xiao Tao continued. "Also, the kitchen has prepared lunch. Would you like to rest first, Miss, or..."

"I'll go check on the seeds first," Lin Yun said impatiently.

Inside the warehouse, several large bags of plump rice seeds were neatly stacked. Lin Yun grabbed a handful, examined them carefully in her palm, and saw that the grains were full and of excellent quality.

"These are high-quality seeds transported from Jiangnan," Xiao Tao explained, "because you specifically requested the best."

Lin Yun felt a warmth in her heart; her little peach had grown up.

After lunch, she began preparing the spiritual spring water. To avoid being discovered, she sent everyone away and worked alone in the hydroponic room.

She took out a small porcelain bottle that she carried with her, carefully poured the spiritual spring water into a large wooden basin, and then added a large amount of clean water to dilute it.

"This should be enough," she muttered to herself. If she added too many seeds, the plants would grow too fast and be considered monsters.

Based on the concentration of the spiritual spring water she injected last time, a ratio of 1:100 should be appropriate.

She began soaking the rice seeds in batches in the spiritual spring water. This task seemed simple, but in reality, it required precise control of the time and concentration; otherwise, the effect would be greatly reduced.

After about an hour, Lin Yun finally finished processing all the seeds.

She rubbed her aching back wearily, and looking at the several large basins full of soaked seeds, a sense of accomplishment welled up in her heart.

"Miss, dinner is ready," Xiao Tao whispered from outside the door.

Lin Yun responded, quickly tidied her appearance, and went to the dining hall.

During meals, she always felt uneasy, as if something was about to happen.

Back in her room, she blew out the candle, but tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Outside the window, the shadows of the trees swayed gently, and the occasional chirping of insects added to the stillness.

Suddenly, she heard light footsteps outside the window.

Lin Yun immediately became alert, quietly got up, and hid behind the door. The footsteps stopped at the window, followed by a slight prying sound.

Lin Yun's heart raced, and she gripped the dagger under her pillow tightly—the one the Emperor had given her last night.

The window was gently pushed open, and a dark figure vaulted in. Just as the person landed, Lin Yun abruptly rang the bell by the bedside.

This was an alarm she installed after learning from her previous assassination attempt.

The ringing was particularly jarring in the quiet night, and the shadowy figure, clearly unprepared for this, paused for a moment.

In that instant, the door was kicked open and two guards rushed in.

"An assassin!" the guard shouted.

Seeing that things were not going well, the shadowy figure turned around and was about to jump out of the window to escape, but was grabbed by the guards who were lying in ambush outside the window.

The sounds of fighting alerted the entire courtyard, and soon the assassin was brought before Lin Yun, bound hand and foot.

By the light of the torch, Lin Yun could see the assassin's face clearly: a strange young man with fierce eyes.

"Who sent you?" Lin Yun asked coldly.

The assassin sneered and remained silent.

Xiao Tao rushed over and, upon seeing the scene, turned pale with fright: "Miss, this..."

Lin Yun waved her hand: "It's alright." She turned to the guards, "Hand him over to the authorities for questioning."

The guards obeyed and left. Lin Yun stood in the courtyard, the night breeze ruffling her hair, but her heart remained unusually calm.

Very few people knew that she left the palace today, and even fewer knew that she had come to Yunxiang Villa.

Now, the only ones who truly hate her are probably the Nian family. This matter needs to be investigated by the Emperor.

The next morning, Lin Yun ordered her servants to pack her belongings, preparing to return to the palace. The soaked seeds had been properly packaged and were being guarded by designated personnel.

Before leaving, she took one last look at Yunxiang Villa.

Although the trip was short, it made her even more certain that the Emperor was protecting her meticulously.

The emperor, described in history books as cold and ruthless, showered her with tenderness.

The carriage slowly made its way towards the capital. Lin Yun touched the token in her arms, her heart filled with warmth.

She couldn't wait to get back to him and tell him everything that had happened.
