As night fell, the Lin family's clothing shop was brightly lit.
The maids and waiters were busy tidying up the tables and chairs and checking the orders, while Xiao Tao directed several servants to pack up the remaining tea and snacks.
Lin Yun stood in front of the counter, her fingers gently tracing the thick order book, a hint of satisfaction flashing in her eyes.
It's not that she's forgotten her roots or doesn't do low-end business; it's just that as a top designer, her design costs are too high.
If you only spend time on low-end materials, it's tantamount to exploiting the poor, which is really not worth it. The money of the rich is the easiest to earn.
"Yun'er, come and sit down." Lin's father's voice came from the inner room.
Lin Yun looked up and saw her parents and eldest brother already sitting around the table, on which were laid out several simple home-cooked dishes and a pot of hot tea. She smiled slightly, put down the booklet in her hand, and slowly walked over.
"Father, Mother, Eldest Brother, thank you for your hard work today." After sitting down, Lin Yun poured a cup of tea for each of her parents.
Lin's mother took the teacup, her eyes full of affection: "Yun'er, today's tasting event was excellent, and your father and I are very happy for you. However..." She paused, hesitatingly adding, "Why did you suddenly decide to only serve those 100 members? Doesn't that mean all the other guests are being turned away?"
Lin Feng couldn't help but chime in, "Yes, little sister, our business is booming. If we limit the number of members, won't it affect our future income?"
Lin Yun put down the teapot, her gaze calmly sweeping over her family, and said softly, "Father, Mother, Eldest Brother, I have three reasons for doing this."
She stretched out her slender fingers and listed them one by one:
"First, our Lin family's business has too shallow a foundation and no power. In just one month, we have made too much money, which has aroused the jealousy of our competitors."
Chen Yu is a prime example; others are certainly envious, but they haven't acted yet. To avoid unnecessary trouble, we need to limit expansion and stabilize our existing foundation.
Mr. Lin nodded thoughtfully: "Yun'er is right. The taller the tree, the more the wind will blow against it. We should indeed be more careful."
Lin Yun continued, "Secondly, I want to wait until my third brother passes the imperial examination before making any other plans."
If my third brother could achieve some success in the imperial examinations, our family would have something to rely on and wouldn't be so easily manipulated.
Mentioning her third brother, Lin's mother said with pride, "Sanlang studies hard and will definitely pass the exam."
“Third,” Lin Yun smiled slightly, “business has been booming lately, and many systems need to be improved.”
For example, the division of labor among the embroiderers, order processing, and member management. I want to take this opportunity to pause and refine the entire workshop's operation, laying a more solid foundation for future development.
After hearing her words, Lin Feng patted the table lightly, his face full of admiration: "Little sister, you've thought this through so well! I used to think you were too conservative, but now I realize I was short-sighted."
Mr. Lin agreed with his daughter's idea: "Yun'er has grown up and thinks further ahead than I do."
Lin's mother held her daughter's hand and said softly, "Since you have already made up your mind, your father and I support you."
Lin Yun felt a warmth in her heart and said softly, "Thank you, Father and Mother, thank you, Eldest Brother. By the way, Father and Mother, I was thinking we should buy a new house and move there. The current backyard isn't big enough anymore; we should convert it all into a workshop. What do you think?"
"This..." Mr. and Mrs. Lin exchanged a glance, both seeing joy in each other's eyes. Oh right, how could they have forgotten about this?
Having earned so much money these days, they should at least buy some land and houses. Although they don't farm, they can rent out properties and collect rent. Without land, they are like drifting duckweed, without roots.
"Alright, alright, Mom and Dad, I agree with my little sister's idea. We've hired so many people here, we can't accommodate them all." Lin Feng loved going out to gather information and handle affairs; he enjoyed doing this kind of work.
Besides, the backyard is too small. During the day, the embroiderers work in the yard, and at night they all go back to their own homes. Everyone else sleeps on the floor in the shop. Although only Xiao Tao sleeps in the same room as Lin Yun, it is obviously very crowded and inconvenient for everyone. We have been too busy with business lately to think about these things.
"Alright, then go out and ask around tomorrow to find out where there are courtyards. Yun'er, how big should we buy?" Lin's father turned to ask Lin Yun.
"Let's buy a triple-cell one; it might come in other uses later." The main concern was security, but there was no need to tell them that.
"Listen to your sister, choose the three-tiered system." Mr. Lin was quite generous for once.

Meanwhile, the backyard of Chen's Cloth Shop was in a complete mess.
"Useless! A bunch of useless trash!" Chen Yu kicked over the low table in front of him, and the tea set on the table shattered with a crash. His face was ashen, and his eyes were blazing with anger. "Seven or eight people, and you can't even smash up a weak woman's shop? What use are you to me!"
The thugs kneeling on the ground trembled, one of them mustering his courage to say, "Young Master Chen, it's not that we didn't try our best, it's just that those masked men were too powerful... we didn't even have a chance to fight back!"
"A masked man?" Chen Yu frowned and grabbed the man by the collar. "Where did this masked man come from? Explain yourself!"
"I don't know either!" the thug cried, "They suddenly rushed out of the alley, their moves were ruthless, they specifically targeted joints, the brothers didn't even have time to shout before they were taken down..."
Chen Yu released his grip, his expression shifting between anger and uncertainty.
He paced back and forth in the room with his hands behind his back, wondering, "Lin Yun is just a merchant's daughter, where does she get such a powerful backer?"
He suddenly stopped, grabbed the celadon teacup from the desk, and smashed it against the wall with a loud bang, shattering the teacup into countless pieces.
"Investigate! Find out the truth!" Chen Yu gritted his teeth. "I want to see who's behind all this sabotage!"
