Daiyu reached out to brush away the strands of hair clinging to his neck, her fingertips touching his burning skin before she withdrew, only to be grasped by his hand.
The red candles outside the gauze curtains had burned more than halfway, and Hongtun was clearly much more composed this time.
He recalled the places where Daiyu had trembled the most, his lips and tongue lingering on her neck and behind her ears, feeling the body in his arms gradually soften.
When Daiyu unconsciously tilted her head back, he took the opportunity to kiss her jade-like neck. Only when he realized that she was no longer stiff did he begin to make his move.
"Wait..." Daiyu suddenly pressed down on his hand that was reaching for her skirt, her eyes reddening. "The nanny said... we shouldn't be too..." Before she could finish speaking, Hongtun had already taken her round earlobe into his mouth and gently nibbled at it, taking advantage of her distraction to conquer her.
Daiyu had somehow managed to cling to her husband's shoulder.
The gilded incense ball hanging above the tent shook violently, and the originally elegant scent of agarwood was mixed with a seductive fragrance.
"Does it hurt?" Hongtun asked, his voice hoarse as he stroked her sweat-dampened hair.
Daiyu shook her head and buried her burning cheeks in his chest, only to hear his heart pounding like a drum, not much calmer than her own.
The third watch gong sounded outside the window, but Hongtun was wide awake.
As he caressed his wife's delicate skin at the waist with his fingertips, he suddenly remembered something and took out a brocade box from a hidden compartment in the bed.
"A gift from the Empress."
He opened the box, revealing a pair of mutton-fat jade bracelets inside, their surface smooth and lustrous, "They said they had been offered as sacrifices before the Buddha."
Daiyu let him put the jade bracelet on her wrist, her fair wrist blending almost seamlessly with the jade.
Just as she was about to thank him, she suddenly felt her husband's fingers slowly moving up the inside of her arm, sending a slight shiver down her spine.
She hurriedly pressed down on the mischievous hand: "Your Highness...it's getting late..."
"Call me by my courtesy name." Hongtun intertwined his fingers with hers with his other hand, and loosened her long hair with his other hand.
His long, black hair cascaded down like a waterfall, a few strands clinging to his sweat-dampened collarbone. He lowered his head and gently kissed it.
"The name 'Xiaoyan' was bestowed upon me personally by the Emperor."
"Xiaoyan..." Daiyu called softly, but her lips were sealed before she could finish speaking.
In a daze, I heard him whisper in my ear, saying that he still couldn't forget the image of her chasing butterflies in the Imperial Garden when we first met, with apricot blossoms covering her clothes.
At dawn, Daiyu finally couldn't bear it any longer and begged for mercy repeatedly.
Hongtun reluctantly released her, but still held her in his arms.
Daiyu was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open. In her hazy state, she vaguely felt her husband massaging her aching lower back with just the right amount of pressure.
She mumbled something, and Hongtun looked down to listen, only catching the words "unrestrained," and couldn't help but chuckle.
As dawn broke, the old woman on duty discovered that the handkerchief that should have been placed outside the door was missing.
Just as they were about to knock on the door, they heard the Crown Princess's tearful reproach from inside: "...still going to the palace..." followed by the Crown Prince's indistinct response and rustling sounds.
The old women exchanged glances, pursed their lips, and retreated to the corridor.
