Chapter 70 My Heart Loves You

As night fell, the Yunxiang Courtyard was brightly lit.

Lin Yun sat in the main hall waiting, reading a book and drinking tea.

She changed into a light pink dress, and although she wore no makeup, her stunning beauty was still undeniable.

A short while later, a light footstep sound came from outside the door, and then Yongzheng appeared at the door.

He was dressed casually and immediately spotted Lin Yun sitting in the chair.

Lin Yun rose and walked slowly outside, giving a graceful bow: "This humble woman greets Your Majesty."

He gazed at her, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.

She wore no makeup today, only a white jade hairpin in her hair, yet she captivated him more than any elaborate attire.

He raised his hand to gesture for her to stand up, his voice low: "No need for formalities."

His gaze swept across the hall, and he said in a gentle tone, "I've heard that your hydroponic flowers are growing remarkably well, so I've come to see them."

Lin Yun smiled slightly: "Your Majesty, please follow me."

The two arrived at the flower room one after the other.

Upon opening the door, Yongzheng's gaze was immediately drawn to the vibrant plants.

He walked closer to take a closer look and saw that the plants in the porcelain plate were lush and green, some of which had even bloomed with small flowers and had a fragrant aroma.

"This..." Yongzheng reached out and gently stroked a leaf, his eyes filled with disbelief, "How did you do that?"

Lin Yun explained, "This is a hydroponic method that I tested. I used a special nutrient solution to cultivate the plants, and I never expected it to be so effective."

Yongzheng turned to look at her, his gaze deep: "A specially made nutrient solution? Could you tell me more about it?"

Lin Yun was prepared and answered calmly:

"When I was in my hometown, I accidentally obtained a recipe that dissolved several medicinal herbs in water, which could promote plant growth."

I came to Beijing this time wanting to try it out, but I didn't expect it to be so effective.

Emperor Yongzheng nodded thoughtfully, without asking further questions about the details of the recipe.

He reached out and gently touched a tender leaf, his tone full of praise: "If this method can be promoted, it will greatly benefit agriculture."

Lin Yun was overjoyed and said, "That's exactly what I was thinking. If it could be used for grain crops, it might alleviate the people's worries about famine."

Yongzheng looked at her, his eyes softening: "I am so pleased that you have such a heart."

The people are suffering terribly. The grain harvest is too low. They spend their whole lives buried in the soil, working themselves to the bone, but they can't harvest much grain.

The two then discussed methods for promoting the planting.

Lin Yun spoke eloquently: "In my opinion, we can only promote the seeds and planting methods, first establish official experimental fields, and then gradually promote them to the general public after the results are significant."

Yongzheng listened intently and nodded, saying, "This method is very appropriate. I will order someone to make arrangements when the time comes."

Lin Yun continued, "In addition, we can select some experienced farmers to participate in the experiment and teach them this method. I am willing to personally guide them."

"Very well, if this succeeds, I will reward you handsomely."

Seeing her radiant appearance, Yongzheng's heart stirred.

Her intelligence and courage always brought him surprises.

Yongzheng suddenly stepped forward, the distance between them abruptly closing. His gaze was intense, burning with intensity, as he stared at her and said:

"I heard my thirteenth brother mention you, saying that you bravely stepped forward to save people while dressed as a man, acting righteously and courageously. Do you know how dangerous that was?"

Not only was it dangerous, but it also made him jealous for a long time.

Lin Yun's heart skipped a beat, and she subconsciously took a half step back, but Yongzheng grabbed her wrist.

His palms were burning hot, and though the pressure wasn't strong, she couldn't break free.

"Your Majesty?" she called softly, a hint of panic flashing in her eyes.

As Yongzheng looked into her clear eyes, the emotions that had been suppressed in his heart for so long burst forth like a flood.

She was a fairy sent by heaven to assist him; she was intelligent, brave, and possessed a charm that mortal women lacked.

She knows so much, understands so much, that she seems to belong to another world.

If he doesn't catch her, she might really fly away...

The thought made his chest tighten, and he could no longer suppress the impulse within him.

He suddenly pulled her into his arms, his arms tightly encircling her waist.

"Your Majesty, you..." Lin Yun's words were drowned out by his breath.

He lowered his head and inhaled the fragrance of her hair, feeling that the person in his arms was incredibly soft.

He placed one hand on her back and the other on her waist, as if trying to meld her into his very bones.

Yongzheng closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and felt the faint floral fragrance lingering in her hair.

At this moment, he was no longer a high and mighty emperor, but just a mortal troubled by love.

"Don't move." His voice was deep and husky, carrying an undeniable authority. "Let me hold you for a while."

Lin Yun froze in his arms, her heart pounding like a drum.

She could feel the rise and fall of his chest and hear his strong, powerful heartbeat.

His emotions came suddenly and intensely, leaving her at a loss.

His arms tightened even more, as if he were afraid she would disappear.

Lin Yun struggled slightly and whispered, "Your Majesty, you're hurting me."

Yongzheng then seemed to wake from a dream, loosened his grip slightly, but still did not let go.

He looked down into her eyes, his voice softer than ever before: "Yun'er, I..."

The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed them back. How could he tell her that he was already hopelessly in love?

He said in a hoarse voice, "I love you, what about you?"

Lin Yun was stunned, his deep and passionate confession echoing in her ears.

She never imagined that the emperor, who was high and mighty, would reveal his feelings to her.

Her cheeks flushed instantly, her heart pounded like a drum, and she didn't know how to answer for a moment.

Seeing her silence, Yongzheng felt a sense of unease.

He loosened his grip on her slightly, cupped her face in his hands, and forced her to look him in the eye: "Answer me."
