Chapter 8 The design was sold.

The morning sunlight streamed into the room through the window, and Lin's mother carried in two hard-boiled eggs, their shells still steaming.

She gently nudged Lin Yun, who was dozing off at her desk, and said softly, "Yun'er, eat while it's hot and nourish your body."

Lin Yun opened her sleepy eyes and was slightly taken aback when she saw the egg in her mother's hand: "Mother, where did this come from?"

Lin's mother smiled and said, "I traded it with Aunt Li for rice. You should eat it."

Lin Yun shook her head, got up, dressed, washed her face, brushed her teeth, and then took the eggs to the kitchen: "Let's all eat together."

Lin's father quickly waved his hand: "Your mother and I don't want to eat. You and your brother can share it." Lin Feng also turned his head away: "I'm not hungry. You eat."

Lin Yun sighed, picked up the egg, and gently tapped it on the corner of the table, causing a crack to appear in the shell.

She deftly peeled the two eggs, broke them into four pieces, and pushed them to her parents and brother respectively: "Half for each of you, no one is allowed to refuse."

Looking into his daughter's determined eyes, Lin's father swallowed hard, then finally picked up half an egg, took a bite, and the aroma of the yolk filled his mouth.

Lin Feng stared at the half egg in his hand, recalling his past extravagant spending of family wealth, and now he had to rely on his sister to have a decent meal.

Shame and self-reproach gnawed at his heart, and he whispered, "Yun'er, I'm sorry..."

Lin Yun smiled slightly: "Brother, let's not talk about the past. We have important business to attend to today."

---

After breakfast, Lin Yun carefully wrapped up the completed drawing and went to East Street with her father.

Lin's father was filled with anxiety the whole way, and asked in a low voice, "Yun'er, can these designs really be sold?"

Lin Yun patted the bundle: "Dad, don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

Upon arriving at East Street, Lin's father first took one of the patterns and went into a small embroidery shop.

The shopkeeper, a middle-aged man with a face full of fat, glanced at the design and said casually, "20 coins, will you sell it or not?"

Mr. Lin was stunned: "This...this is too cheap."

The shopkeeper sneered, "What's the value of something painted by a country bumpkin? Take it or leave it!"

Lin Yun took her father's hand and whispered, "Dad, let's go."

Once outside, Lin's father sighed, "Yun'er, how about... 20 coins it is, it's better than nothing."

Lin Yun shook her head: "Dad, good things should be sold to those who know their value."

The two visited several other small shops, but the results were largely the same.

Lin's father became increasingly unsure of himself, but Lin Yun remained calm throughout.

Finally, they arrived at a slightly larger clothing store. The store was neatly arranged, and the fabrics were of higher quality than those in other stores.

Lin Yun's eyes lit up, and she whispered, "Dad, this is it."

Just then, the shopkeeper was checking the accounts. He was a lean man in his forties. Seeing Lin's father looking around at the door with the blueprints in his hand, he took the initiative to ask, "Brother, is there something you need?"

Lin's father awkwardly handed over the design: "Shopkeeper, please take a look at this..."

The shopkeeper took the design and initially glanced at it casually, but soon his eyes froze.

He examined the design of the frog buttons and the waistline of the pattern carefully, becoming more and more surprised: "Who drew this pattern?"

Lin Yun stepped forward and said, neither humble nor arrogant, "It's me."

The shopkeeper glanced at her a few times and saw that she was a girl of about fourteen or fifteen years old, dressed in coarse linen clothes. Her hair was braided in two braids, but it couldn't hide her lively spirit.

He suddenly laughed and said, "Young lady, you're quite interesting. Please come upstairs, let's talk in detail."

Upstairs in a private room, the innkeeper personally poured tea, his attitude much warmer than before: "Young lady, your designs are indeed quite good. I'll offer 50 coins per design, how about that?"

Lin Yun smiled slightly, stood up and said, "Shopkeeper, since you are not sincere, then we will take our leave."

The shopkeeper was taken aback: "Hey, don't rush! The price is negotiable!" This young girl isn't easy to fool.

Lin Yun stopped and turned around, saying, "Then I'll ask the biggest shop around here; they'll probably know their stuff better."

The shopkeeper's expression changed.

He had initially thought the father and daughter were country folk and easy to fool, but he hadn't expected the girl to be so shrewd. She must have found her way here by asking around.

He quickly smiled ingratiatingly and said, "Young lady, let's talk this over. Name your price?"

Lin Yun sat down again, took out ten patterns from her bundle, and lined them up in a row: "Shopkeeper, please take a look at these first."

The shopkeeper looked down and his eyes widened in surprise.

The ten designs are all unique. Some have flowing lapels like clouds, some have hidden patterns on the cuffs, and some have waist belts that are both practical and beautiful.

His hands trembled slightly, and his heart was filled with turmoil—if these designs fell into the hands of his competitors, the consequences would be unimaginable!

He suppressed his excitement and tentatively asked, "Little girl, how much of these... do you have left?"

Lin Yun said calmly, "This is only a part of it."

The shopkeeper's breath hitched, a thought flashing through his mind: This is a mountain of gold! He immediately stood up: "Please wait a moment, I'll ask the owner to come over!"

---

The owner was a young man in his early twenties who walked in slowly. He was tall and slender, and his indigo long robe made his skin look like jade.

With delicate features, a high nose bridge, and a faint smile on his lips, he exudes a scholarly air while also revealing the shrewdness of a businessman.

He didn't say anything, his eyes casually glancing at the table, but he couldn't take them off. He quickly walked over, picked up the blueprints and examined them carefully. The more he looked, the more astonished he became. These designs... were simply ingenious!

Moreover, the detailed instructions and annotations in the drawings make them easy to understand, even for beginners, let alone experienced professionals, and they can quickly recreate the work, greatly improving efficiency.
