Yongzheng seemed to see through her thoughts and gently stroked the back of her hand with his fingertips: "Yun'er, don't overthink it. I'm just pleased that you can tell me the truth."
Lin Yun nodded, a faint smile appearing on her face. Yongzheng picked up his teacup, took another sip, and sighed, "This tea is indeed extraordinary; no wonder I've been so fond of it."
The two chatted for a while longer, then Yongzheng suddenly said, "Have you heard that I punished Lady Nian today?"
Lin Yun replied softly, "I've heard about it."
Yongzheng's gaze was deep: "She is incredibly audacious to dare to lay a hand on you. I will not let her off easily."
Lin Yun hesitated for a moment, but still said, "Your Majesty, Consort Nian is, after all, a consort. If she is punished too severely, I'm afraid there will be criticism in the court."
Yongzheng sneered: "Why should I care about what others say when I do things?" He looked at Lin Yun and softened his tone, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."
Lin Yun said no more, but simply poured him more tea.
Yongzheng suddenly leaned closer to her and whispered, "Yun'er, would you mind if I stayed tonight?"
His breath brushed against her ear, and Lin Yun felt a warmth in her ears. She nodded gently.
Yongzheng picked her up and strode towards the bed in the inner room.
Yun'er's body was so soft. When the two were together, he felt as if he had ascended to the highest palace. He had never experienced such extreme pleasure with any other woman.
