"Something's not right..." Lin Yun's heart raced slightly, and a chill ran down her spine. She listened intently and vaguely caught several suppressed breaths approaching from all sides.
"Xiao Tao, go and call Wang Defa!" she commanded in a low voice, while quickly blowing out the candle, plunging the room into darkness.
Xiao Tao turned pale with fright, but dared not delay, and turned to run out the door. However, as soon as she opened the door, a cold light suddenly slashed down!
"Watch out!" Lin Yun lunged forward, pushing Xiao Tao aside, but the blade grazed her arm, sending a sharp pain through her. She gritted her teeth and steadied herself, then looked up to see three men in black blocking the doorway with knives in hand, their eyes cold and menacing.
"Miss Lin, someone wants to kill you." The leader sneered, the tip of his knife pointing straight at her throat.
Lin Yun's pupils contracted as her mind raced—these people were agile and clearly professional assassins!
She suppressed her panic and shouted sharply, "If you dare to touch me, aren't you afraid of Fourth Master's revenge?"
Upon hearing this, the assassin paused slightly, but quickly took another step closer: "I've taken your money, so I'll take care of the consequences. Don't worry about them!"
Before the words were even finished, the blade was already flashing!
At the critical moment, a dark figure leaped down from the beam, his short sword precisely parrying the longsword, sparks flying. With a clang, the assassin was forced back two steps, looking up in astonishment: "An ambush!"
Wang Defa, accompanied by his guards, rushed in through the side door and instantly engaged the men in black in a fierce battle. Tables and chairs were overturned, and the sounds of clashing swords filled the air. Taking advantage of the chaos, Lin Yun pulled Xiao Tao to a corner, their backs pressed against the wall, their breathing rapid.
"Don't be afraid, Miss!" Wang Defa shouted, wielding his sword to drive back the enemy while protecting her.
However, the assassins were highly trained, and every move was deadly. One guard was accidentally stabbed in the shoulder and groaned. Another seized the opportunity to circle around from behind, his blade aimed straight for Lin Yun's back!
"Miss!" Wang Defa's eyes widened in horror, but he didn't have time to defend himself.
In a flash, a silver light shot in from the window, precisely piercing the assassin's wrist! The man screamed in agony as the long sword slipped from his hand.
Immediately afterwards, several bodyguards burst through the window and joined the battle like ghosts.
"It's Fourth Master's men!" Lin Yun felt relieved, but before she could catch her breath, an assassin suddenly sprang up, grabbed a fallen candlestick, and smashed it at her!
"Bang!"
Lin Yun dodged to the side, but stumbled and hit the back of her head hard on the corner of the cabinet. A sharp pain shot through her, and everything went black.
"Miss!" Xiao Tao's exclamation seemed to come from a great distance.
