Chapter 485 Extra: Uyudei

In June of the sixteenth year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign, Wuyoudai was born in the Yikun Palace of the Forbidden City.

Wuyoudai's father was Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, and her mother was Consort Yu, who later became Consort Yu, Imperial Noble Consort Yu, Imperial Noble Consort, Empress, and Empress Xiaoshuren, of the Xu Muer clan.

Before Wuyoudai, her mother, Xu Muershi, had given birth to three children: her third brother, Yinling, her seventh sister, Wuxiha, and her eighth sister, Wunaxi.

At birth, Wuyoudai had a bright red cinnabar birthmark between her eyebrows, which, coincidentally, was the same as that of the deposed Empress Jingfei, the wife of the late Emperor Shunzhi.

Consort Jing, the wife of Emperor Shunzhi, was a legendary figure, even though she was eventually deposed and her fate remains unknown.

In her youth, Consort Jing, of the Borjigit clan, obeyed the Empress Dowager's decree and married into the Qing Dynasty from Mongolia, becoming Emperor Shunzhi's first wife and Empress.

A few years later, she was deposed and demoted to Consort Jing.

The first deposed empress of the Qing Dynasty

Because of the cinnabar birthmark between her eyebrows, Wuyoudai was taken to Cining Palace by Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang to be raised at birth. At that time, Princess Buerhe, who was raised by Empress Dowager Xiaohui, was also being raised in Cining Palace.

Princess Burhe was three years older than Wuyoudai and was the legitimate daughter of Empress Xiaocheng, of the Hesheli clan.

Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang was old and devoted herself to maintaining the marriage alliance between the Qing Dynasty and the Khorchin Mongols, to restoring the former glory of the Mongol concubines in the harem, and to thinking of her maternal clan...

Although Wuyoudai was raised by Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang, it was normal for her not to see Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang for several days.

When she was a little older, Uyudai noticed that the fifth princess, Burhe, who lived next door and was her fifth half-sister, always looked at her with a strange expression. Sometimes, she would deliberately get close to her, pinching her cheeks and touching her hands.

Uyudai told the nanny about her fifth sister's strange behavior. The nanny looked at her strangely and only told her to stay away from her fifth sister and have less contact with her.

A few years later, Wuyoudai was sent back to her mother, Xumur. At first, Wuyoudai was a little unfamiliar with her mother, but gradually she began to get closer to her.

Living with her mother, Uyudai felt very relaxed, as she didn't have to follow the rules all the time.

As Wuyoudai's younger siblings were born one after another, she became the eldest sister and helped her mother take care of her younger brothers and sisters. Although some of her younger siblings were very naughty, Wuyoudai was really happy.

Uyudai's personality, for some reason, is always melancholic and sentimental.

She cherishes flowers, grass, and fallen leaves; she enjoys reciting poetry, painting, and playing the zither; she likes being alone; she prefers simple, plain-colored clothing; and she dislikes gold and silver jewelry.

While the other sisters in the palace were comparing their clothes and makeup, Wuyoudai was playing the zither and painting.

Uyudai's marriage was quite a rollercoaster ride. At the very beginning, at a palace banquet, Consort Hui, of the Nara clan, openly proposed that Uyudai marry Fiyanggu's third son.

Uyudei had heard of Feiyanggu's third son; he was a few years older than her.

Although not the most outstanding young talents in the capital, he was not bad either. With Fei Yanggu's family background, marrying a princess was certainly possible. However, the mistress of Fei Yanggu's household was his second wife, the daughter of Beizi Muerhu.

Uyudai later heard a little about the daughter of Beizi Muerhu; she was a shrewd and biased woman.

Around the same time that Consort Hui mentioned marrying Uyudai to Fiyanggu's third son, another earth-shattering piece of news arrived: Galdan Khan of the Dzungar Khanate had petitioned the Qing Dynasty, specifically requesting to marry Uyudai as his primary consort.

Galdan was over forty years old, more than old enough to be Uyghur's father, and had already married his principal wife.

Uyghur panicked, worried that she would be married off to the Dzungar Khanate. Fortunately, Emperor Kangxi did not agree and was furious, so he directly sent troops to attack the Dzungar Khanate.

Afterwards, Wuyoudai was betrothed to the Fucha family, to Fucha Maqi's second son.

Fucha Maqi, who is also Wuyoudai's father-in-law, has a half-sister who was once the Imperial Concubine Yi in the palace. After Wuyoudai married into the Fucha family, he also had a niece from another branch of the family who was betrothed to the Thirteenth Prince Yinxiang as his primary wife.

In addition, Fucha Maqi's eldest granddaughter was betrothed to Hongxu, the eldest son of the fourth prince Yinchu, who later became the emperor's primary consort and empress.

The Fuca clan enjoyed great prestige during the reigns of Emperors Kangxi, Yonghe, Gan'an, and even Emperor Yilong. Especially during the Gan'an era, thanks to Empress Fuca of Hongxu and his eldest son Yongxun, the Fuca clan became one of the most prominent families.

In the thirty-fourth year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign, Wuyoudai married into the Fucha family in a grand ceremony.

The prince consort treated Wuyoudai with great respect. Wuyoudai spent most of her time living in the princess's residence and would occasionally visit the Fucha family. Every time she visited the Fucha family, Fucha Maqi treated her with courtesy.

Well, it's worth mentioning the Fucha family branch, which is a typical example of male dominance and female weakness.

Fucha Maqi had only one illegitimate daughter and only one granddaughter among his grandchildren. His uncle Li Rongbao's family also had only one cousin born to Li Rongbao's second wife, Hesheli.

After Uyuni married her husband, perhaps due to her melancholic nature, her relationship with him was not as close as that with her other sisters and husbands.

Wuyoudai only gave birth to two sons in her lifetime. Her eldest son was born in the thirty-sixth year of her marriage. At that time, Wuyoudai and her husband were newlyweds.

As for the second son, she conceived unexpectedly more than ten years later, in the forty-ninth year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign, and the second son was born in the fiftieth year of his reign. The eldest son and the second son were fourteen years apart, which was quite rare in the royal family.

Because of this, later on, her mother, elder sister, and younger sister would tease Wuyoudai.
