Youyao was the thirtieth daughter of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, the twenty-eighth princess of the Kangxi era, and the Gulun Zhaoshu Princess. Youyao's full name was Aisin Gioro Youyao.
Youyao and her elder sister Jianing were twins, both daughters of Empress Xiaoshuren, of the Xu Muer clan.
