Yinzhen was the youngest son of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, only one month younger than the twenty-second prince born to Empress Xiaoshuren (née Xu Muer).
In June of the thirty-eighth year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign, Yinzhi was born in Changchun Palace. His birth mother was Consort Chen, who was then a concubine of the Ziyan clan. She later became Noble Lady Chen, Noble Lady Yi (the late Emperor), and Consort Yi (the grandfather).
