Chapter 128 Taoist Temple

The people at the Taoist temple finally got a good look at the person who had come to pick her up. She was thin, dark-skinned, and very young. It was a shame that such a young girl was sent to the Taoist temple. The rich families were truly heartless and cruel. They felt sorry for the little girl. Qingyin stood in front and immediately locked her gaze on the pretty woman. She smiled and said, "Hello, Taoist priest, my name is Lin Qinrou."

"Hello, Miss Lin, I am Yu Xuanzi, the abbot of the Taoist temple. Everyone in the temple calls me Master Yu. Miss Lin, please call me Master Yu."

“Then Master Yu, please call me Arou.”

The two looked at each other and smiled.

Looking into her clear eyes, and seeing the leader, Yu Xuanzi, she suddenly had a thought: a golden carp is no ordinary fish; her Taoist temple has gained a hidden gem.

Not only did she have this idea, but the guards escorting the second young lady also had the same thought. Looking at the graceful and elegant second young lady, they suddenly realized that the second young lady was even more beautiful than the third young lady.

After the guards left, Yu Xuanzi led Qingyin to the room they had arranged. The room was an earthen house, but it was well-maintained and spacious, and it was cleaned very thoroughly. The people from the Taoist temple had put their hearts into it. Wu Mama and Xiaoyue had both suffered hardships before, so they thought the courtyard was quite nice, even exceeding their expectations, and were much more satisfied. However, it certainly couldn't compare to the courtyard of the Lin family mansion. The two of them glanced at their young lady with concern.

Qingyin would never complain. She had even lain directly on the ground before, so how could she possibly dislike a well-maintained mud house?

She smiled at Yu Xuanzi and said, "Thank you for your trouble, Master Yu."

"It's nothing, it's no big deal. If anything happens, just ask your nanny to come find me." Yu Xuanzi, who had been observing Qingyin, didn't see the disdain in her eyes, and her smile became even more sincere as she spoke warmly.

"Since it's getting late, Arou, you should get some rest. I won't disturb you any longer."

Qingyin simply said goodbye to them. There was hot water prepared by the people of the Taoist temple in the room. Wu Mama, who originally wanted to ask where the water was, nodded. The Taoist priest of this temple is good and is very thoughtful.

The three of them, master and servants, quickly washed up and prepared to go to sleep, deciding to deal with other matters tomorrow.

In late autumn, the sky darkens and brightens quickly.

Before dawn, the entire Taoist temple was already busy with agricultural work. In order to fill their stomachs, the temple planted some crops and raised some livestock. The female Taoists were busy, yet orderly.

Qingyin slept a little longer, changed her clothes, and went outside. The natural fragrance of the plants outside filled her nostrils, bringing a refreshing and unknown scent. Qingyin felt much more awake.

As she walked out, she was obviously spotted by Granny Wu and Xiaoyue, and Xiaoyue came over anxiously.

"Miss, you're awake, why didn't you call me? It's my fault for being so negligent. Let me help you wash up first. The nanny has already prepared the meal."

"It's okay, I can do it myself."

Seeing that the maid seemed about to cry if she refused again, Qingyin had no choice but to let her serve her and wash up.

Breakfast consisted of a small dish of pickled vegetables, congee, and some warmed-up flatbreads that had been brought along. Since they were made of meat, Granny Wu couldn't bear to waste them, so she heated them up.

"Miss, if you don't mind the meat pie, please have a couple of bites. The rest can be eaten by this old servant and Xiaoyue," said Granny Wu with a kind smile.

"It's alright, Granny. There are no outsiders here. The Taoist temple is austere, so you can eat with me."

Xiaoyue glanced at Granny Wu, feeling lost. The grandmother and granddaughter hadn't understood the rules before, but after living in the Lin family for so many years, they knew the difference between master and servant.

Granny Wu was in a dilemma, unsure how to refuse the young lady.

Seeing the two hesitate, Qingyin said sternly, "Good Granny Wu, you and Xiaoyue are the only family members I trust. If you don't eat with me, I won't eat either."

The nine-year-old child spoke these words without being spoiled; on the contrary, his clear eyes revealed only the sincerity of a child.

The two had no choice but to sit down, but their hearts were filled with sweetness, as if they had eaten honey. Originally, they only loved the girl because of Aunt He, but now Wu Mama and Xiaoyue genuinely felt sorry for this young girl.

Qingyin didn't know what they were thinking. She didn't know how the pickled vegetables were made. They were crisp and delicious, with a hint of spiciness, which was extremely appetizing. Qingyin unconsciously finished a large bowl of porridge.

Having eaten and drunk her fill, Qingyin, with her slightly bulging belly, planned to stroll around the Taoist temple to familiarize herself with her living environment for the next few years.

The Taoist temple was located halfway up a mountain. Qingyin bid farewell to Xiaoyue and Granny Wu and walked alone on the road. The temple occupied most of the mountainside, and the tall trees surrounding it cast large shadows. Qingyin guessed that the temple must be a good place with a mild climate in winter and a cool climate in summer. In particular, there were square plots of farmland along the road, planted with all kinds of seedlings and vegetables. There were also a few familiar faces in the farmland. Qingyin smiled briefly as a greeting and continued walking.

The women who received the smiles exchanged glances. Their initial disgust for the arrogance of those high-ranking officials and nobles lessened considerably, as did their dislike for this pampered young lady.

A woman with an ordinary face and freckles said, "I think this young lady is quite polite, unlike that annoying scoundrel who came to inform us before."

A nine-year-old young lady from a prominent family arrived at the Taoist temple. All the women living in the temple knew perfectly well that the little girl dressed in fine fabric was clearly the legendary young lady.

"Those high-ranking officials and nobles are good at pretending. Who knows when this pampered young lady will expose herself?" The speaker was a relatively young woman with delicate features, but a hint of hatred appeared on her face, ruining her delicate features.
