Chapter 147 (Small Completion and Transition)

After a period of darkness, before Qingyin could open her eyes, she felt an itch in her throat, followed by a violent cough. Blood splattered on the ground, a scene of desolation.

Opening her eyes, feeling utterly exhausted and sensing something inappropriate in her body, Qingyin's gaze froze slightly. "Damn it, the system didn't say before that the identity was random!"

The body was clearly terminally ill, and the room was filled with a strong, pungent, and unpleasant medicinal smell. Qingyin looked around and saw that the simple decor and understated yet luxurious furnishings of the room revealed that she was no ordinary person.

Qingyin mustered her strength to reach a bronze mirror near the bed and barely managed to see the face of the body. It was a handsome face, and even the long beard couldn't hide the pale complexion. The face, emaciated from illness, had sunken cheeks and exuded a deathly aura. The once beautiful face had been severely diminished.

Based on the skin and bones, Qingyin deduced that the body was not too old, at most around twenty-six years old.

Qingyin slowly swallowed the beauty pill and body-strengthening pill from the system, then closed her eyes, preparing to accept the memories of this body.

After a while, Qingyin felt the pain in her chest lessen considerably and opened her eyes again. She never expected that she would transmigrate into the body of Lin Ruhai, the biological father of the wish-granter Lin Daiyu.

"My lord, you're awake." A pretty young girl looked at him with tears in her eyes and said with surprise.

In her memory, Qingyin knew that this was a refugee girl that Lin Ruhai and Jia Min (Lin Daiyu's mother) had taken in before. Jia Min named her Chun'er, hoping that her future would be filled with spring.

Unfortunately, fate is cruel. Jia Min died of illness not long after giving birth to Lin Daiyu, and now Lin Ruhai has also followed the same path. Without a leader in the household, even the subordinates and maids who were considered Lin Ruhai's confidants did not have a good ending. In Lin Ruhai's memories of his previous life, the little girl named Chun'er was taken by a playboy after Lin Ruhai left and forced to have sex with him. Chun'er had a strong character and hanged herself to avoid this absolute humiliation.

Looking at the pretty young girl in front of her, whose face still held a touch of youthful innocence, Qingyin couldn't help but soften her gaze.

Qingyin tried to sit up, but as soon as she raised her upper body, she was so exhausted that she almost fell back onto the bed.

Chun'er reacted quickly and immediately helped Qingyin up.

Having expended most of her strength on the petite Chun'er, Qingyin looked somewhat ashamed.

The adult used to be so healthy, able to ride horses and shoot arrows, but now he can't even get up. Chun'er casually wiped away the tears on her face.

"The master is in poor health. If there is anything you need, just tell us. But please don't try to do it yourself."

Qingyin looked helplessly at Chun'er's desperate and heartbroken expression, as if she were about to die. Her earlier weakness was just that she had misjudged the restorative effect of the Body Strengthening Pill. However, if she had arrived any later, she estimated that her condition would have been even more serious.

"Let Ansheng come and wipe me down." Now that she was in a man's body, Qingyin quickly adapted to the local customs and had a servant attend to her. She didn't want her current body to be taken care of by a young girl.

An Sheng was Lin Ruhai's servant who had always been loyal to him. Hearing Chun'er's words, he quickly came in.

Looking at the same red eyes as Chun'er, Qingyin felt helpless, but she knew that they would understand as time went on.

An Sheng looked worried, but his movements were meticulous and quick. He soon brought hot water and wiped Qing Yin's face and neck clean.

After he finished wiping, Chun'er, who had just left, also brought in the medicine bowl. An Sheng helped Qingyin sit down, "It's time for you to take your medicine, Master."

Qingyin suddenly thought of the phrase, "Dalang, it's time to take your medicine."

This action is quite similar to the one we see now, only the purpose is different.

Seeing the worried expressions on their faces, Qingyin looked at the ancient, pure black medicine in front of her with a pained expression. If she told them that she was better now, would she not have to drink this medicine? Qingyin secretly glanced at the two of them, seeing the way they looked at her as if they wanted to feed her.

She sighed softly, frowned, and prepared to drink it down her throat.

The moment she put it in her mouth, Qingyin almost vomited. The strong bitterness and strange taste hit her head, and her face turned pale instantly. She forced herself to drink the bowl of medicine.

Just then, Chun'er handed him a candied fruit. The candied fruit made of red dates had a strong date aroma and a hint of sweetness, which quickly diluted the bitterness in his mouth. Qingyin breathed a slight sigh of relief. He closed his eyes, pretended to be extremely tired, and asked the two to leave.

Lin Ruhai preferred quiet, and he remained so even when he was sick. Chun'er and An Sheng both understood this and quietly slipped out.

Only Qingyin remained in the spacious room.

Qingyin also carefully considered her plan. Lin Daiyu had been sent to the Jia family by the original owner for two years. The original owner had been sick this time, but she had managed to pull through. However, she was always sickly and died a few years later.

She still holds the position of Salt Commissioner, but she requested leave from the Emperor this time due to serious illness. Now that she has recovered, she must be reinstated.

Being a salt inspector is no easy job. The original owner of this body was honest and upright, but this position was not simple. Several princes had their eyes on this position. The original owner's serious illness was not due to the interference of these ambitious princes. Therefore, she had to get rid of this deadly job.

After all, her task was to serve Lin Daiyu, not to be the emperor's most outstanding henchman. Qingyin gently patted the bed quilt with her fingers. This task was not difficult to get rid of; she could use the original owner's illness to push it away. However, if she wanted to be a backer for her daughter Lin Daiyu, she would have to make a little impression on the emperor. Having thought things through, Qingyin closed her eyes and decided to rest for a while.
