That young master was someone he couldn't possibly have gotten close to. It was his good fortune and luck to be able to escort such a young master all the way; he shouldn't be too greedy for anything else.
Meanwhile, Qingyin had learned his lesson and avoided being stared at by passersby. He walked in the middle of the crowd, with An Sheng, who was 1.9 meters tall, and Jiang Yuyi, who was 1.85 meters tall, blocking his view. It was difficult for people outside to see his face, so there was no crowding incident.
It was getting late, and Qingyin didn't plan to pick up her daughter that late. Instead, she had someone inquire about the best restaurant in Jinling and booked several private rooms.
As for money, Lin Ruhai had more than enough to spend, including what he had earned through hard work and what the emperor had bestowed upon him. So Qingyin was very generous and opened dozens of the best private rooms in the restaurant.
The waiter at the restaurant was delighted and attentive in serving this rare VIP customer, and even prepared hot water and some of the restaurant's signature dishes for the room.
However, it wasn't until the water was being delivered that the waiter got a good look at the young nobleman leading the group. His eyes widened in disbelief. Could there really be such a handsome young nobleman in the world?
Even after he returned to the counter, the waiter looked dazed and confused.
Just as the restaurant owner was making his rounds, a short, stout old man, who was also on patrol, smacked him hard on the head, breaking his daze.
"You brat, aren't you keeping a close eye on him again?!"
"Oh dear, innkeeper, I didn't. There was a young master who stayed in the top-floor private room just now. He was extremely handsome."
"No matter how beautiful it is, it's no excuse for you to neglect your duties!" The short, stout old man looked at the young waiter suspiciously, speaking with a hint of disbelief.
Distracted by him, the waiter dared not think about the young master again and focused on guarding the door.
As night fell, the restaurant gradually quieted down. The autumn moon was surprisingly full, and the cold moonlight and wind brought only chill and coolness to people.
Qingyin and the others escaped the chill of early autumn by arriving at the hotel. After taking a bath and changing into new clothes, Qingyin came to the table.
Hot food was already laid out on the table: two small dishes of snacks, several plates of hot stir-fries, and a bowl of stewed fish soup.
Once on the mainland, Qingyin's appetite improved considerably. The fish soup was made from fresh silver carp caught nearby, with few bones and tender meat. He drank it with great relish, and the bowl of fresh fish soup was welcomed by everyone.
Perhaps because of its proximity to the river, the people of Nanjing are very skilled at cooking fish. Apart from the fish soup that is amazing with just one bite or other dishes made with fish that are all eye-catching delicacies, the other simple dishes are obviously much more ordinary and cannot compare with the refinement of the people in the capital.
After enjoying a delicious meal, Qingyin dismissed the others and prepared to take a nap, hoping to avoid taking her daily Chinese medicine.
"Wait, sir."
Qingyin looked at the bowl of dark, bitter medicine that had been brought out from nowhere, his face showing some worry. He wondered where this Imperial Physician Jiang, who always watched him take his medicine, had gotten it from. The familiar bitter taste of the medicine was all too familiar to him, and he subconsciously wanted to look away.
"Where did you get your medicine from?" Qingyin cleared her throat, her lips, which were even redder after the meal, pressed tightly together, as if she too was resisting the medicine placed in front of her.
Seeing Lord Lin's resistance to traditional Chinese medicine, Imperial Physician Jiang smiled, revealing two dimples on his baby-faced, fair face, looking exceptionally adorable.
"Sir, I just used the restaurant's kitchen to cook it."
"Good medicine tastes bitter, Your Excellency, please drink it. I've also prepared some candied fruit." Having spent half a month with Qingyin, Imperial Physician Jiang clearly knew how to handle the aloof Lord Lin. He smiled warmly and, as if presenting a gift, opened his hand to reveal a bag full of crystal-clear candied fruit.
Qingyin stared wide-eyed in slight confusion. Hadn't Imperial Physician Jiang already given him all of these candied fruits? How come another packet appeared?
As if knowing Lord Lin's doubts, Jiang Lin smiled and explained, "When you were coming to Jinling earlier, I took a few extra packets."
The previous pack was indeed finished, and seeing Lord Lin's adorable expression because of the candied fruit, Jiang Lin's heart seemed to soften.
Adults are rare to be cute. Like a child, they are afraid of the bitterness of medicine and want to eat candied fruit instead. If this behavior happened to a child, Jiang Lin might say that the child is childish and spoiled, but when it happened to Lin Daren, he found it cute and adorable.
The notoriously hypocritical Imperial Physician Jiang naturally thought this way upon seeing the handsome and refined Lord Lin.
Seeing that Jiang Lin had explained in such detail, Qingyin knew that she couldn't escape the bitter medicine in front of her.
The saying goes, "A long pain is short-lived," and the same applies to taking medicine. Qingyin gulped down the medicine, and the extremely bitter taste exploded in his mouth. Fortunately, Jiang Lin handed him some candied fruit, which slightly chased away the bitterness, allowing him to relax his furrowed brows.
After taking the medicine, Jiang Lin had no reason to stay any longer. Although he was especially reluctant, he still left Qingyin's room.
The rooms in the restaurant were quite spacious, about the same size as the guest rooms in the Lin residence. After rinsing her mouth with water, Qingyin took off her coat and lay down.
The only bed in the room was more than enough for a 1.79-meter-tall man like himself to lie down. The quilt still smelled of sunshine. Qingyin could clearly tell that the quilt and the people in the restaurant regularly washed and cleaned the bed in this superior room. Despite being a bit of a detail freak, Qingyin was quite satisfied with the cleanliness of the restaurant and fell asleep in no time.
The beauty on the bed, perhaps having gone through various activities, still had mottled red spots on her face, which stood out even more against her translucent white complexion, making her appear even more vibrant.
It's as if a halo of light has been drawn back from behind the fog, making the beauty even more vivid and vibrant.
Unfortunately, no one will be able to appreciate this scene; perhaps only the full moon, with its sliver of light peeking through the bed, can catch a glimpse of its vibrant color.
