Chapter 185 Intending to Take the Imperial Examination

A familiar voice reached his ears, and Wang Nan whispered, "The young master has arrived. I'll inform the gatekeeper first."

"Okay, sure."

The gatekeeper was quicker than Qingyin had expected. His announcement, carried by the carriage outside, was clearly heard by Qingyin: "Master! Madam! The eldest young master is back!"

As for what Qingyin felt, she didn't really feel anything. She just had the sudden feeling that a major villain was about to appear.

Yeah, it's pretty good.

The gate was slowly pushed open, and Qingyin stepped down from the carriage.

The gatekeeper running ahead was stunned, and Luo's father and Lin's mother following behind him were also stunned one after another.

Qingyin, who possessed the original owner's memories, also recognized the middle-aged couple standing in front of her; they were the original owner's parents.

He stepped forward, and the guards and maids made way for him. He bowed and said, "Father, Mother, it is your unfilial son who has caused you so much trouble." His tone was soft and reproachful, yet he spoke slowly and deliberately, exuding a certain elegance.

Mr. Luo and Mrs. Lin froze, unable to utter the words they had been holding back to their eldest son.

Is this his/her eldest son? They had been thinking about him day and night for who knows how long. He was a delicate child in his childhood, but now his appearance had surpassed their imagination. Perhaps only that bright mole between his eyebrows confirmed his identity. He was radiant and elegant, like a fairy or a Buddha. Although he was wearing a white robe that could be seen anywhere, on Zhang'er, it looked like a celestial garment, extraordinarily beautiful and ethereal.

"Big brother! Get up quickly." Luo Miaoqing stared at her god-like older brother with bright eyes, and quickly ran ahead of her parents. She thought her parents were still angry about her older brother, so she kept trying to help them get up. After all, it would be heartbreaking if her handsome older brother hurt his legs from kneeling.

Looking at the little girl with red eyes in front of her, Qingyin knew that she was her little sister, the villainous female supporting character in the book. Seeing the pure joy in her eyes, Qingyin smiled gently, but her actions did not change.

Mr. Luo and Mrs. Lin, who had been stunned just moments before, also came to their senses. Mrs. Lin glared at Mr. Luo and anxiously stepped forward to take Qingyin's hand, saying, "Get up quickly, Zhang'er."

"Hmm, get up, we'll talk about it when we get back to the manor." Mr. Luo felt a little wronged after being glared at, but he didn't dare to explain to his childhood sweetheart, Mrs. Lin, that he had been staring at his son in a daze. First, he would lose face in front of his son, and second, what if Mrs. Lin wouldn't let him into the house that night?

Qingyin was helped up by Lin's mother and Luo Miaoqing, each holding one of his hands. Qingyin wanted to say that he wasn't tired, but seeing the love in the eyes of the mother and daughter, especially the deep longing in Lin's mother's eyes, he ultimately didn't break free from their hands.

And so they entered the mansion.

Luo Jiancang stared at the unfamiliar yet familiar figure ahead, feeling lost and helpless. He had so much to say, but he couldn't find the words. For example, "Why did he insist on leaving back then? Why didn't he want him anymore, or his parents..."

Walking into the familiar courtyard, Qingfeng Courtyard, the courtyard where the original owner grew up, the plaque was still brand new, showing that it had been carefully maintained.

Lin's mother said solicitously, "Zhang'er, see if there's anything else you're missing, and I'll arrange it for you."

Looking at Lin's mother's expectant eyes, Qingyin lowered her head and smiled gently: "Mother has prepared everything very thoroughly, so there is no need to add anything. I have had a long journey, so please wait a while, Mother and Father. I will wash up first and then we can talk."

The first part was addressed to Lin's mother, but the second part was spoken by Qingyin to Luo's father and the two siblings who were following behind.

Mr. Luo said calmly, "Mhm."

Qingyin then left with the maid who was leading the way.

Only a few people remained, sitting in the main house of Qingfeng Courtyard with expressions of doubt and disbelief. As the days went by, they were all in a daze. They were already surprised by the return of their eldest son, and the fact that their eldest son, who had left home to become a monk, was a handsome man with an exceptionally beautiful face, made them wonder if they were dreaming.

On the other side, Qingyin, who was taken to the washbasin, dismissed the blushing maid as usual and enjoyed a bath by herself.

Although carriages generally have all the necessary amenities, the most troublesome issue is undoubtedly washing up, which is a small torment even for Qingyin, who is not a germaphobe.

The warm water washed away the fatigue of the journey. Qingyin picked up a brand-new white robe prepared by the maid and changed into it. Perhaps unaware of Qingyin's preferences, the servants in the manor prepared a robe of the same color as the one the eldest young master wore when he came. However, the fabric and design were obviously much better than the one Qingyin had bought at the temple.

After changing into her new clothes, Qingyin neatly tied up her long hair with a hair crown, making her look even more imposing.

This left the maids and servants, who were already looking forward to the eldest son, even more stunned.

Qingyin smiled gently, a smile that drew gasps from the crowd. All the servants guarding the courtyard stared intently at the legendary young master who had just returned, their eyes filled with amazement and infatuation.

Back in the main house of Qingfeng Courtyard, Mr. Luo and Mrs. Lin remained relatively calm and sat there. Luo Jiancang, on the other hand, was unusually silent for some reason, while the slightly round-faced little girl Luo Miaoqing couldn't contain her excitement and kept talking about how handsome her older brother was and how good his personality was.

Qingyin observed silently before walking in confidently.

"Father, Mother, Second Brother, Little Sister."

Mr. Luo said in a serious tone, "Hmm, good manners. You haven't forgotten the rules even in the temple."

The subtle tone in Mr. Luo's voice made Mrs. Lin glance at him. Don't think she didn't know that the old man had been in a good mood since earlier and was definitely very satisfied with Zhang'er, but he just had to save face.

Mr. Luo turned his head and glanced at Mrs. Lin.

Lin's mother understood what Luo's father meant. She glanced reluctantly at her extremely handsome eldest son, but then thought, "Well, now that Zhang'er is back, I have plenty of time to spend with him."

Lin's mother calmly said to her second son and youngest daughter, "Cang'er, Qingqing, I haven't hung out the clothes I made for you to measure yet. Come with me and take a look."

"..." Luo Miaoqing originally wanted to refuse, after all, no clothes were more important than her eldest brother. She wanted to stay and talk to him. However, looking at her mother's eyes and her second brother's agreement, she gradually understood something. She obediently nodded and left with her mother.

Only Luo's father and Qingyin remained in the room.

Looking at his eldest son, who was already as tall as him and so handsome, Mr. Luo was silent for a moment, but the next second he reacted and asked, "Zhang'er, what are your plans after you come back?"

Father Luo did not ask Qingyin why he had returned, and Qingyin tacitly did not explain. He said earnestly, "Father, I plan to take the imperial examination."

"Are you serious?"

Looking at Qingyin's determined eyes, Luo's father nodded in understanding. He was relieved, though, since his eldest son was going to take the imperial examinations, he wouldn't be so eager to become a monk again, would he?
