Chapter 19 Madam Lin

“Then the younger sister will have to nag her older sister a few more times,” Li Gege and Song Gege said in unison.

The two stayed for another half an hour before leaving.

When Yinzhen returned to his wife's room, he saw his wife and her maids and nannies gathered together, laughing and chatting happily.

He stepped forward and asked, "What are you doing?"

Everyone bowed and greeted, "Greetings, Master!"

Yinzhen waved his hand dismissively, "Get up, everyone!" He walked over to Rouyin and sat down on the stool next to her.

"My lord, you don't know that our little princess and the little prince are about to fight. I was amused by their clever and funny little actions."

Looking at the two clever and adorable children perched on his pregnant wife's lap, Yinzhen said sternly to the bewildered Honghui, "Honghui is the older brother. As the elder brother, you must take good care of your younger sister."

The little boy, Du Honghui, who looked almost exactly like his father, was imitating his father's appearance. He frowned and looked at him. The chubby little boy imitated the adult's expression. His precocious appearance broke the seriousness of Yinzhen. He couldn't reason with a baby who was only a few months old and couldn't understand.

He gave his chubby little face a helpless kiss, and without showing favoritism, wiped away the drool that Ilja had drooled from eating the biscuits. Then he held each of them for half an hour before putting them down.

Rouyin chuckled, “Master, you’ve wronged Honghui. Honghui is such a good older brother. I don’t know if it’s because we’re twins, but Yilejia always likes to bully her brother. Honghui always lets her have her way. Just now, when we were eating cookies, Yilejia seemed to think the one in Honghui’s hand was tastier, so she kept trying to snatch it from him. Honghui didn’t cry when his little cookie was taken away; he just grabbed another one.”

“Honghui and Yilejia are both good children. It’s good that our little princess is a bit strong-willed!” Yinzhen deliberately poked Yilejia’s pink lips, making her drool uncontrollably.

Rouyin gave him a disgruntled look.

Rouyin looked at her daughter, who was getting a little impatient, and saw her waving her little hands around trying to grab her father's teasing hand. "It's one thing for me to tease her, but why did you make her so angry? We'll see how you coax her later!"

Yinzhen, feeling a little guilty, avoided his wife's reproachful gaze. He picked up his soft little daughter and said, "Our Yilejia won't be angry, right?" This made Yilejia giggle.

Children's energy is limited, and after playing for a while, the two babies were nodding sleepily. Seeing this, Yinzhen called over the wet nurse who was serving him, "Take the prince and princess back to rest."

"Yes, Master," the two replied in unison.

At night, Rouyin nestled in Yinzhen's arms, "Father, you have to go to Mongolia with the Emperor in three days? I wonder when you will be back?"

"Mongolia is far away, and I estimate it will take more than half a month to travel there and back. Yin'er is quite far along in her pregnancy, and I'm worried about her. How about I leave Su Peisheng behind to help you manage the inner quarters?"

“Master, you can’t leave Eunuch Su here. Eunuch Su has been taking care of you since you were little. If you leave him here, I won’t feel at ease letting someone else take care of you!” Rouyin gently tugged at his sleeve. She couldn’t help but move closer, her eyes shining as she looked at him.

"Sir, why don't you let my mother come and keep me company?"

"It's my fault, why didn't I think of having Madam Lin accompany you!" Yinzhen pounded his head, gently stroked her hair, and said patiently, "Yin'er, it's getting late, go to sleep. I'll go to the manor tomorrow to deliver the invitation to Madam Lin."

"Your Highness, please remember to keep an eye on Princess Lijia for me when you go to Mongolia. I've heard that the mutton in Mongolia is especially tender. When you get there, please remember to eat a few more bites for me..." Rouyin said, and then she became so sleepy that she could hardly keep her eyes open. Yinzhen lowered his head and kissed his sleeping wife, and gradually drifted off to sleep as well.

After learning that the Fourth Prince was going to accompany His Majesty on a journey beyond the Great Wall, Madam Lin was so worried that she couldn't sleep. "A mother's heart is always with her son, no matter how far he travels." Madam Lin was extremely worried because her daughter was six months pregnant with multiple children, and the Fourth Prince was going to be away for more than half a month.

The next day, when the gatekeeper brought news from the Fourth Prince's residence, Madam Lin immediately stepped forward excitedly. Su Peisheng stood respectfully in the courtyard and said, "Greetings, Madam Lin. The Fourth Prince has ordered that you stay at his residence with the Princess for a month."

Madam Lin avoided Su Peisheng's bow and said with great joy, "Thank you very much, Eunuch Su. I'll pack up and go right away!"

Looking at the very reasonable Madam Lin, Su Peisheng secretly admired her for being such a capable manager of the Ulanara family mansion. Despite managing it for so many years, no bad news about the stepmother had ever come out of the mansion.
