When Qingyin arrived, she saw her younger brother looking withdrawn.
"What's going on?" Qingyin asked curiously.
Luo Jiancang stared at Qingyin with a resentful look, without saying a word.
Luo Miaoqing said with a grin, "Big brother, second brother has finally realized his own shortcomings and is heartbroken, hahaha."
Seeing the barely suppressed smiles on the little girl's and her mother's faces, Qingyin knew that the two of them had probably been teasing their little brother. He smiled faintly and said, "Is that so? But remember to review yesterday's questions again when you have time. I'll test you again tomorrow."
The little girl's face froze in place with joy, while Luo Jiancang's face grew even more ashen.
Qingyin felt even happier after reading this. Indeed, happiness comes from learning from the suffering of others.
Seeing the smile on Lin's mother's face, Qingyin's expression became slightly serious. "Mother, I've come to talk about Qing'er."
"Me?" Luo Miaoqing pointed at herself in surprise, trying hard to think if she had done anything wrong recently. But wait, she hadn't gone out or caused any trouble lately.
Lin's mother ignored her youngest daughter. Seeing the serious expression on her eldest son's face, she slightly suppressed her smile, went into the house, and waved away the servants. She had originally wanted to ask Luo Jiancang to leave, but obviously this son had shamelessly followed her.
Seeing this, Qingyin said, "It's fine to let Jian Cang come; he knows too."
Luo Jiancang, who had originally intended to follow, suddenly felt a sense of foreboding. "Uh, maybe I should just go out?"
His response was Qingyin's gentle yet threatening gaze.
Luo Jiancang: "Hahaha, I was just kidding..."
With Luo Jiancang's interruption, the atmosphere in the room was no longer so serious.
Only the mother and her three children remained in the house.
Qingyin asked the still somewhat bewildered girl, "Qing'er, do you still like Qin Shaohuai?"
Hearing that familiar name suddenly, Luo Miaoqing felt a little unfamiliar with it. She suddenly realized that she hadn't thought about that person for a long time. Looking at her older brother's serious expression, Luo Miaoqing thought about it for a moment and realized that she didn't really like Qin Shaohuai that much. It was probably just a possessiveness because of the engagement.
Luo Miaoqing hesitated for a moment, but perhaps because she was expressing her feelings in front of her brother and mother, she was a little shy, but her tone was still very serious: "I think I don't actually like Qin Shaohuai, but my feelings for him are probably the kind of familial feelings I have for my second brother."
Qingyin nodded, ignoring the surprise on the faces of Lin's mother and Luo Jiancang, and continued, "Mother, Qin Shaohuai is not a good match for Qing'er, you see."
Qingyin took out a pile of documents and congratulated the system for successfully accomplishing a major task for the host, which was a complete record of Qin Shaohuai and Lin Congyu's whereabouts and communications.
The ambiguity and language were fully expressed in this draft paper. The more Lin's mother looked at it, the angrier she became, especially since it involved Luo Jiancang. After reading it, Lin's mother was so angry that she threw the paper directly in front of Luo Jiancang.
"Look at the mess you've made in the past!"
"What did I do now?" Luo Jiancang felt wronged, but as he looked at the entire document, his face darkened, and he said incredulously, "Brother, won't someone misunderstand this?"
Qingyin lowered her eyebrows and looked at Luo Jiancang with a sharp gaze.
"You were with them before, didn't you notice?"
Luo Jiancang pursed his lips and lowered his head.
At this moment, Luo Miaoqing looked at the strange atmosphere between her eldest and second brothers. "Hmph, the eldest brother is definitely not wrong. It must be the second brother who made the mistake," the little girl thought biasedly. She picked up the few pieces of paper on the ground and looked at them. The more she looked at them, the redder her face became. However, it was not because she was shy, but simply because she was angry.
"Isn't Qin Shaohuai a young master from a prestigious family? How could he do such filthy things with women!"
Although she knew that many young noblemen in the capital were promiscuous behind the scenes, Luo Miaoqing never imagined that the older brother who had patiently played with her would be this kind of person. Kissing, holding hands... except for the last step, they basically did nothing, which made her feel disgusted.
Lin's mother said angrily, "What does Qin Shaohuai think our Qing'er is? The engagement must be called off! It must be called off!"
Seeing that Lin's mother was unusually angry, Qingyin gently patted her back. "Mother, don't worry. It's our good fortune that we were able to find out about him before Qing'er's wedding. I will go to General Qin's mansion to cancel the engagement tomorrow."
"But what about Father..."
"I'll go tell him! I want to see how that old bastard Luo Peiyuan explains things to his brother," Lin's mother said aggressively.
With eyes full of anger, Qingyin silently prayed for a second for her father who had not yet returned.
Now that she had explained things clearly to her mother, Qingyin was afraid that her mother would get too angry and harm her health. Instead, she enthusiastically told her that she had recently invited a famous Peking Opera troupe from the capital to perform a new play, "The Legend of the White Snake and Xu Xian." Hearing that her favorite Peking Opera troupe had a new play, Lin's mother's attention was indeed diverted.
After finally managing to cheer up the family's troublemakers, Qingyin carried the dejected Luo Jiancang away.
The next day, Qingyin sent a visiting card to General Qin's mansion ahead of time. Although he didn't really like the family that could raise a son like Qin Shaohuai, he still had to put on a good show.
Since it was her younger sister's engagement, the annulment of the engagement also required the person herself, so Qingyin simply dragged the little girl and her bored younger brother along.
Unlike the Ningyuan Earl's Mansion, which was a royal mansion inherited from generations of wealth, the Qin family's fortune originated from the merits of Qin Shaohuai's grandfather, Qin Zhijian, in fighting for the late emperor, who bestowed upon them the royal mansion as a reward. Perhaps because their foundation was shorter, although the construction of the general's mansion was luxurious, it exuded a superficial and shallow temperament, appearing somewhat vulgar.
