Old Zhang was so frightened by the madam that he instinctively trembled.
But the situation outside was undeniably dangerous, and he couldn't help but panic and lose control of his emotions.
The matchmaker, leaning against the door frame, saw that the madam was in trouble, so she wasn't in a hurry to leave. Instead, she looked on with amusement.
"Madam, officials and soldiers have surrounded our Red Mansion!"
Hearing this, the madam, who hadn't cared before, panicked, but she still managed to suppress her panic and said calmly, "What are you afraid of? You're so ignorant. What does this have to do with our brothel?"
That's what he said, but Lao Zhang still couldn't calm down.
He had a vague feeling that the expressions of the soldiers surrounding the Red Mansion were not so friendly.
As Master Song listened, his mind, which had been focused on enjoying the beauty's favor, calmed down. He wasn't particularly capable of doing business in the capital; his only strength was his caution. Worried that the Red Mansion had gotten into some serious trouble, Master Song glanced at the beauty who perfectly suited his taste and decided to go with the madam to see if the Red Mansion had really gotten into trouble. "Wait, I'll go with you."
They stared at each other with wide eyes.
The situation was tense, and the madam, disregarding Master Song's insistence on following her, had no choice but to stride downstairs.
Master Song followed closely behind, panting, and finally arrived at the door.
"Whoosh!" This display of force really startled him.
A dozen soldiers carrying knives stood in the hall with serious and frightening expressions. The prostitutes who had come to the Red Mansion huddled together timidly, watching the soldiers in the distance with trepidation, not daring to complain, for fear that the gleaming knives would strike their heads.
Leaving aside the soldiers in the lobby, and looking at how the main entrance was squeezed so tightly it was about to collapse, it was clear that there were many more soldiers behind it.
The madam trembled in fright, but the people behind her were still watching her and wouldn't let her be afraid. Someone pushed her, and she stepped forward.
The madam wanted to laugh, but looking at the stern-faced soldiers in front of her who looked like they were about to kill her, she couldn't laugh at all, and her expression was very distorted.
"Gentlemen, what has our Red Mansion done to warrant such a visit from the authorities?" the madam asked timidly.
