Chapter 356 The Banquet for the Envoys

After delivering some opening remarks for the palace banquet, the majestic and handsome Emperor Dongwei turned his gaze to the handsome Prince Chu, dressed in black, standing to the side.

Recalling the letter sent from Chu, Emperor Dongwei smiled and said:

"It's been quite a few years since Prince Xie Ping came to our Dongwei. Seeing you now, it's as if you're still the same as you were back then. Time really flies." After saying this, the Emperor of Dongwei sighed wistfully.

Xie Ping, handsome with a hint of wickedness, stood up respectfully. “Over the years, my life in Dongwei has been so good thanks to Your Majesty’s care. My father and mother also remember Your Majesty’s kindness in Chu.”

Speaking of Xie Ping's treatment, the Emperor of Dongwei on the surface certainly did not mistreat him.

Qin Heng listened to Xie Ping's answer and nodded slightly in satisfaction.

"You're too kind, Prince Xie Ping."

"Your father has also sent a letter asking you to return. What is Xie Ping's intention as a hostage?"

Qin Heng's words shocked the ministers at the banquet.

Upon hearing this, everyone in the court couldn't help but turn their gaze to the handsome hostage Xie Ping who had stood up.

Qingyin was naturally among them.

As Qingyin gazed at the composed and handsome face of the young man in the black robe who had stood up, she vaguely sensed a familiar yet ominous premonition.

Sure enough, Xie Ping's eyes gleamed as he listened to the Emperor of Dongwei's words. He quickly walked to the center of the hall, said some polite words to appease the Emperor, and then abruptly changed the subject:

"Your Majesty, I have a request that you would be grateful for."

"Oh?" Hearing the usually cold and silent hostage Xie Ping make a request, Qin Heng became genuinely curious. "Yes, speak, and I will grant your request personally."

Xie Ping's lips curled slightly, and a genuine joy was revealed on his handsome, well-defined face.

"I have fallen in love at first sight with a woman from Dongwei. I humbly request Your Majesty to issue a decree allowing me to bring her back to He Chu to become my imperial consort."

Upon hearing this, an eerie silence fell over the banquet, and some people were filled with intense curiosity about the woman that the prince from He Chu had fallen for.

Qin Heng, who had expected Xie Ping to make some grand pronouncement, twitched at the corner of his mouth. However, the fact that the prince of Chu had a princess from their Eastern Wei was indeed more beneficial than harmful. After thinking for less than a second, Qin Heng's face lit up with a gentle smile, and he said, "I thought you were thinking about something else, but it turns out you have a woman you like. Hmm, Xie Ping, tell me who the woman you like is. I will personally make the decision for you."

Xie Ping smiled, a rare genuine smile on his face, and said:

The next second, Qingyin saw the man striding towards her, his long, slender fingers pointing at her.

Following the man's footsteps, many curious eyes turned towards the direction he came from.

"This is the young lady. I fell in love with her at first sight, you know..."

Qingyin: "..." She wanted to hide, but curious eyes from both the stage and the audience were fixed on her. Even though she was wearing a veil, Qingyin seemed to feel the intense heat.

The court officials and the Emperor of Dongwei: "..."?

I know you like it, but liking is one thing, but who would praise their future wife so affectionately? Especially in public! This hostage, don't you feel ashamed? And this hostage, you say you fell in love at first sight, right here at the banquet, just from a glimpse from afar?

No, this is just too absurd.

Everyone suddenly felt like they were being joked about.

But Xie Ping paid no attention to the strange thoughts of the others. Looking at Qingyin, who was sitting in his seat and looking at him with a blank expression, his eyes were filled with tenderness.

He said firmly, "Yes, I have fallen in love with this young lady at first sight. I beg Your Majesty to grant my wish."

Qin Heng subtly raised an eyebrow, suddenly feeling a pang of sympathy for the emperor and empress far away in Chu. Their son was so absurd; thankfully, none of his own sons were so absurd.

Qin Heng thought about it with relief, then looked at the person below the stage who was still staring at him. It seemed that as long as he didn't speak, the person would keep staring at him. Qin Heng's lips twitched, but he still continued to say to the people below, "Well... this young lady, please come out for a moment."

Forced to become the center of attention, Qingyin looked at the broad back of the young man in front of her, her curved eyebrows furrowed almost imperceptibly, then disappeared. Under the worried gazes of Lin Wanyu and the others, Qingyin walked out unhurriedly and nonchalantly.

Qingyin bowed and said softly:

"This humble woman, Lin Qingqing, greets Your Majesty."

The moment this woman appeared, everyone felt a sense of awe and wonder.

The woman wore a plain blue dress, which wasn't particularly striking, but on the slender young girl, it exuded a rare ethereal charm. Even though the girl was wearing a veil, her exceptionally beautiful eyes and the few glimpses of fair skin revealed that she was a rare beauty.

She is indeed beautiful, especially her eyes, which are breathtakingly beautiful.

Qin Heng admitted to himself, "No wonder Xie Ping fell in love at first sight."

The girl had a certain magic that made people unable to look at her.

Qin Heng struggled slightly to shift his gaze to the girl's captivating eyes, his voice unusually gentle as he asked, "Who... are your parents?" His gaze then fell back to the girl's veil, a rare hint of curiosity in his eyes.

Why are you wearing a veil on your face?
