Chapter 417 Going out for the New Year

Xiao Suzi, who had a similar build to him, was hiding it at home, but Shen Du managed to sneak out of the house again.

After leaving, he headed straight for the Song residence.

At this moment, Shen Du, dressed in white, was squatting on a tree with some lush leaves still remaining in front of Qingyin Courtyard. He was squatting in an extremely twisted and lewd posture, secretly watching Huilan Residence.

He looked out the window and was a little disappointed not to see Qingyin, but he saw Song Zhenbao in the courtyard, which prevented him from being completely disappointed.

Under the tree, Song Zhenbao was still diligently building a snowman.

The little girl, who was a little over three years old, had a rather unusual sense of aesthetics. She looked at the snowman in her hands, which was wrapped in a colorful and ugly little dress, and then propped her face up with her hand.

"Hmm, the snowman's head is bald, and it's only wearing pretty clothes. It doesn't look pretty enough. It would be better if it had hair."

"But what should I do about this hair?"

Song Zhenbao muttered to herself, then couldn't help but glance at her hair.

No, no, no, she shook her head; pulling her hair hurt too much.

Song Zhenbao turned her head and suddenly noticed a thin, long leaf that had fallen on the ground. Her eyes lit up.

"Why not just use this to do your hair?"

After saying that, Song Zhenbao inserted the first "hair" leaf into the first snow he had created.

"Yes, it looks good! It's just that the hair isn't enough."

Looking at the pitifully few fallen leaves, Song Zhenbao felt somewhat melancholy.

Shen Du, who was secretly listening from the tree, had a bright look in her eyes. As expected of her future eldest daughter, she was so clever that she even knew how to use leaves to make hair.

At this moment, as long as Song Zhenbao is Qingyin's daughter, even if her aesthetic sense is abnormally distorted and extremely ugly, Shen Du can still praise his precious daughter as being as beautiful as an angel and a genius sent from heaven.

With a slight increase in strength, Chen Du caused many leaves to fall from the tree.

Suddenly, a large leaf fell beside her: "..."

"?"

Leaves are falling from the sky, that's wonderful!

But there's no wind, so why are the leaves falling?

A hint of doubt flashed through Song Zhenbao's mind, but it quickly disappeared amidst the joy of building snowmen. After dressing each little snowman in clothes and fixing their hair, Song Zhenbao excitedly ran into the house and pulled Qingyin to see the snowmen she had built.

"Mommy, look at the snowman I've built!"

Song Zhenbao pulled Qingyin straight out.

Qingyin smiled gently and did not refuse Song Zhenbao's invitation. Qinghe, however, was a little worried that Qingyin would catch a cold if she went out.

"Miss."

Qingyin shook her head. "It's okay. Just wear something warm. I'll only be out for a little while."

Qingyin didn't want Song Zhenbao's childhood to be so restrictive, not even allowing him the chance to admire a snowman.

Qinghe frowned, then relaxed. She thought, "I'll only be here for a little while. It's fine if Miss dresses more conservatively."

Qinghe brought Qingyin a thick, large fox fur coat—literally large, the kind that would drag on the ground when Qingyin wore it.

Looking at the overly heavy fox fur coat, Qingyin's lips twitched slightly.

Never mind, I'll only wear it for a short while.

Sure enough, as soon as Qingyin put on that fox fur coat, she felt a surge of heat all over her body. It was so warm; it felt like summer.

The rising heat gave Qingyin's overly pale face a rosy hue, making the already exceptionally beautiful woman even more radiant.

Song Zhenbao pulled Qingyin out of the house, and Qingyin also saw the few ugly and strangely shaped little snowmen in the yard.

Qingyin: "..."

Hiding in the tree, Shen Du: "!!!"

"Mommy, isn't the snowman I built pretty?"

Qingyin nodded reluctantly against her conscience, "Mm."

Baby, you stacked it very well. Don't stack it again next time.

Qingyin looked at the little snowmen that Song Zhenbao had piled up, which were decorated with leaves of various shapes and strange clothes. After looking at them for a while, Qingyin wondered if she had gotten used to them, but she found them ugly-cute.

After admiring her daughter's first snowman masterpiece for a while, Qingyin finally returned to the house after being urged by Qinghe.

Meanwhile, on a tree in the courtyard, someone's face was already as red as an apple. She stared at Qingyin's only window for a long time with glistening eyes and reluctance before quietly leaving the Song residence.

The snow has arrived, and Qingyin's first New Year in this world is almost here.

On the thirtieth day of the first lunar month, the streets and alleys of the capital were filled with a joyous atmosphere as the New Year approached.

All night long, everyone, whether royalty or commoners, celebrated and stayed up all night to welcome the New Year. The streets were filled with festive red lanterns and cloths, and some people even set up various food stalls or toy stalls on the street in hopes of making a fortune during the New Year.

Mr. Song originally disagreed with his daughter going out for fun today, since she had just recovered and it would be inconvenient to go out during the New Year when there were many people around. However, seeing Qingyin's teary-eyed look and the expectation hidden in her eyes, Mr. Song couldn't bring himself to say no.

In the end, Mr. Song couldn't bear to keep his daughter cooped up at home on New Year's Day, but he still gave her a lot of advice.

"When you go out, you must stay close to Song Yuebai and the others. Don't get separated, and don't go too close to crowded places. Be careful while wearing your veil. If you get hungry or feel unwell, be sure to tell us..."

Father Song kept rambling on and on, and Qingyin and Niannian now knew where their third brother/uncle's nagging nature came from.

When Song's father finished speaking, Qingyin and Niannian exchanged a knowing glance and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Alright, Daddy, I'll take Niannian out now."

"Grandfather, I will definitely take good care of Mother."

...

Qingyin glanced at the little dumpling, who was barely taller than her own legs, and wondered who was taking care of whom.

The Song brothers, Yuebai and Yuebai, led their sister and niece out the door.

Upon arriving at Chang'an Street, the busiest street in the capital, Qingyin, wearing a veil, looked around and saw all sorts of stalls lining the streets, creating a lively atmosphere.

A hint of joy appeared in Qingyin's eyes, a result of being infected by the festive atmosphere of the New Year.

Qingyin and Niannian were surrounded by the Song Yuebai brothers and a group of tall servants as they walked toward the street in the distance.

Song Yuebai quickly spotted a mask stall not far away. He glanced at Qingyin, then at the masks, and after a moment's thought, asked Qingyin:

"Sister, there are masks for sale over there. If you feel uncomfortable walking around wearing a veil, you might as well wear a mask for more freedom."

Qingyin looked over following Song Yuebai's voice, and her eyes lit up when she saw the various masks on the stall that could cover the whole body.

“Okay, Niannian, let’s go pick out a mask.”

"Okay, okay."

The stalls are not far apart.

The group walked over to the old man's stall in just a few steps.

The old man was startled to see his stall suddenly surrounded by a group of tall, imposing servants. He looked fearfully at the young man at the head of the stall, a man of distinguished appearance dressed in fine clothes, and asked:

"Young master, are you here to buy a mask?"

Song Yuebai smiled gently: "Grandpa, don't be afraid, we're just here to buy masks."

After saying that, Song Yuebai gave up her position, revealing Song Fengqing and Qingyin, who was holding Niannian's hand.
