Chapter 69 The Hundred Flowers Banquet and the Conferment of the Imperial Concubine

At the Hundred Flowers Banquet, the men's and women's seats were separated, so Orondai had to separate from Qingyin and Tongjia Wanying. He had to give them a few more instructions before leaving.

The banquet was held in the outer courtyard of the princess's residence. It was spacious and bright, and many of the women were wearing veils. Qingyin blended in with the women without standing out. Only those who noticed Qingyin couldn't help but be stunned for a moment. By the time they came to their senses, Qingyin had already walked away.

Tong Jiawanying had made ample preparations for this banquet. She wore a long dress with a peony pattern, several gold and jade hairpins on her head, and her face was adorned with delicate gold patterns and forehead ornaments. The modern makeup paired with this gorgeous dress made her look like she had been meticulously embellished.

Tong Jiawan felt the gazes of those around her, and her pride swelled. This makeup set was something she had worked on for so long, and these ancient bumpkins were really ignorant!

On her way to the women's section, Qingyin attracted a lot of attention. She also noticed her unique makeup and styling. To be honest, the pure and seductive makeup created by this time traveler was quite different from the current makeup, and it was also sparkly, which was indeed attractive to young girls.

While in the women's section, Tong Jia Wanying had already been called away by people who were originally close to the original owner of the body, while Qingyin quietly stayed and sat in her seat.

"Hello, my name is Dai Jiamingyue, my father is Dai Jiazhuotu. Which family are you from? Was that your sister just now?" A round-faced girl with a slightly plump figure and wearing a pink peach blossom-shaped cheongsam, sitting to Qingyin's left, greeted her with a smile.

Qingyin nodded. "My father is Tong Guogang, my name is Tong Jia Qingyu, and that lady was my sister."

Dai Jiamingyue covered her mouth and exclaimed, "So you're General Tong's daughter! Ayu, your sister is so beautiful, and you're beautiful too, unlike me who's so fat. But why is Ayu wearing a veil?"

"I'm wearing it because I have a recent allergic reaction on my face."

Upon hearing the explanation, Dai Jiaming lowered her head in annoyance. This stupid girl of hers, why did she have to bring up the very thing she shouldn't have? There was a reason why Ayu wore a veil, yet she had to ask again. Would her new friend ignore her now?

Qingyin looked at Dai Jiamingyue, who was looking down nervously, and smiled gently, "Why are you looking down? Is there something interesting on the ground, Yueyue?"

"And Yueyue isn't fat at all. Women have all kinds of body shapes, but I think Yueyue is just right. She looks like a glutinous rice ball, so cute."

"Ah," Dai Jiamingyue stared in surprise at the woman in front of her, whose eyes and brows exuded gentleness. This was the first time someone had praised her like this. Her mother always said she was fat at home, and no one had ever said she looked this good. Dai Jiamingyue's eyes were a little red, but the corners of her mouth unconsciously turned up.

This was the first time she had approached someone. Initially, she had noticed the haughty Miss Tong Jia with her elaborate makeup, whose confidence she envied greatly. However, she didn't dare to approach her. After the other person was pulled away, she noticed Qing Yin, who was wearing a light blue palace dress. Once she saw her, she couldn't take her eyes off her. Perhaps it was that clear, misty glance that gave Dai Jiamingyue a sudden surge of courage. She went up to greet her, and to her surprise, Qing Yin actually responded and even complimented her on being cute.

A girl's friendship might be just a kind word, which moved Dai Jiamingyue so much that she wanted to share all the good and fun things with Qingyin.

Qingyin chuckled as she looked at the little girl in front of her, who seemed eager to tell her about every brick in her house. The shy girl listened quietly, and only her occasional earnest nods showed that Qingyin was listening attentively.

Looking at Qingyin listening intently, Dai Jiamingyue's face flushed slightly, and she said shyly, "Am I talking too much?"

Qingyin shook her head seriously, "What Yueyue said was very interesting, and I really enjoyed being shared with."

Dai Jiaming felt her face flush even hotter. She whispered, "Ayu is the gentlest person I've ever met," before immediately turning away.

If Qingyin hadn't had such good hearing, she really wouldn't have been able to hear those words clearly. She raised an eyebrow and chuckled a few times. However, she didn't want to ask the person in question for confirmation, or the little girl would really make her blush. Just then, the protagonist of the day, Princess Wenxian, arrived. Princess Wenxian was wearing a light yellow palace dress, with a hairpin inlaid with gold and jade in her hair. Her features were exquisite, and she looked dignified and noble, yet possessed a unique feminine charm.

Although today's event is a clandestine selection of a consort, it is still being held as a formal banquet, so she is expected to say a few opening remarks.

As expected of the princess Kangxi loved most, her eloquence and temperament were truly rare. Qingyin looked at Princess Wenxian with admiration.

Wen Xian was speaking, seemingly oblivious to the jealous and envious glances from the audience. However, she did notice a look of affection. Curious, she followed the gaze and saw Qingyin, who was wearing a light blue dress and a veil. Looking into those clear, amber-like eyes, Wen Xian smiled in that direction for the first time ever.

Upon receiving the smile, Qingyin didn't hesitate to return a generous smile.

Whose daughter is this? She has such a good temperament. Wen Xian felt a bit of goodwill towards her. However, her fourth brother was still there, so she had to go and greet him first. She couldn't go to see that girl. Wen Xian felt a little sad.

Although the banquet was a flower feast, the servants, fearing that the guests might go hungry, still prepared many snacks on the table for them to enjoy.

These pastries were made with seasonal flowers, and their exquisite and beautiful shapes made Dai Jiaming and Yue exclaim in surprise. The two whispered to each other.

"As expected of the Princess's residence, these pastries are so beautiful, I almost don't want to eat them!"

Qingyin couldn't help but smile. "If you don't want to eat them, it'll be a waste. They're made into food so they'll end up in your stomach."
