Chapter 174 Hosting a Banquet

On the very night they arrived in Jiangnan, Yinzhen sent a letter back to the capital, along with the craftsman who designed the garden where they were now living.

Upon arrival, both of them slept soundly through the night. After waking up the next day and having a meal, Yinzhen departed.

He's got a lot going on, he'll be busy this time.

"My lady, are you reading storybooks again today?"

Tong Cheng'er shook her head. She had been reading storybooks to pass the time the whole way, and she had had enough of them.

Let's go for a walk!

"Yes, Madam."

Tong Cheng'er's suggestion of going out for a walk didn't mean going shopping; it simply meant taking a stroll in the garden.

Many families in the capital have built their residences in the style of Jiangnan, but they still feel the same.

After walking around, Tong Cheng'er was satisfied, but also a little tired.

Thinking of the scarf she had promised Yinzhen, Tong Cheng'er instructed, "Bring some wool yarn and wooden sticks."

"Yes, Madam."

With the wool yarn and wooden needles in hand, Tong Cheng'er, who had taught embroiderers needlework techniques in Mongolia, found it quite familiar to start using them herself, as she had already become accustomed to them before.

She was familiar with the technique, but her speed was rather slow.

She wasn't used to doing this kind of thing, and besides, she wasn't a very skillful person.

So she worked for half a day until Yinzhen returned, but the result was still less than five centimeters.

Moreover, there were also instances of incorrect or missed stitches during the process.

In short, it's not very good-looking.

After a busy day, Yinzhen declined his subordinates' invitation to dinner and returned to his residence.

When he entered, the people in Tong Cheng'er's courtyard wanted to pay their respects, but he waved his hand to signal them not to speak and simply went in.

As soon as I reached the door, I heard noises coming from inside.

"Rulan, just take it out and take it apart!" The tone of her voice was somewhat dejected.

She had seen the scarves woven by the embroiderer, and they were very beautiful. She had taught the embroiderer her needlework techniques, but in the end, she couldn't knit a decent scarf herself.

Tong Cheng'er thought she was really stupid.

Looking at the short section, Rulan comforted her, "The Princess's weaving is quite good. She's probably just a bit rusty. She'll get better with practice."

Tong Cheng'er looked at the thing in her hand and couldn't bear to look at it: "Forget it, let's take it out and take it apart first, and then we can talk about it later when we're more skilled."

Anyway, winter is still a long way off, let's take it slow!

After listening to a few incoherent sentences, Yinzhen went inside.

As soon as Yinzhen entered, Tong Cheng'er heard footsteps. She looked up and saw that it was Yinzhen.

She quickly hid the "defective" piece in her hand, then asked in surprise, "Why are you back?"

Yinzhen raised an eyebrow: "What, shouldn't I have come back?"

Tong Cheng'er asked Ru Lan, "What time is it?"

Rulan replied, "Reporting to Madam, it is already noon."

Tong Cheng'er was taken aback. She didn't feel that time had passed so quickly, how come it was already lunchtime!

Yinzhen said to Rulan, "Go and prepare lunch!"

Ru Lan respectfully replied, "Yes."

After Rulan left, Tong Cheng'er said to Yinzhen, "It's all my fault, I was so busy I forgot the time."

Yinzhen shook his head: "It's my fault, it's all because I came back too early."

Tong Cheng'er: ...

Yinzhen asked, "I saw you hiding something when I came in. What was it?"

Tong Cheng'er quickly shook her head: "I didn't hide anything."

Yinzhen looked incredulous: "I saw it all."

Unable to withstand Yinzhen's questioning, Tong Cheng'er reluctantly took out the "defective" piece.

Yinzhen took it, looked at it, and then said with a smile, "Not bad!"

Tong Cheng'er glared at him, who was he mocking!

She snatched the "defective product" from his hand and said, "I still have my own self-awareness. What you're saying is going too far."

Yinzhen said earnestly, "I said it's true, everything Cheng'er does is good."

Tong Cheng'er: ...

Tong Cheng'er wanted to dismantle that "defective" piece, but Yinzhen said he wanted to keep it, and in the end, he took it away.

As for what she did with it, Tong Cheng'er had no idea.

She didn't really want to know.

What she didn't know was that the scarf she called a "defective product" was eventually placed in a sandalwood box by Yinzhen, who then had Su Peisheng send it back to the capital and put it in his study.

This was the first time his young wife had ever made anything for him, and Yinzhen kept it as a memento.

Yinzhen was very busy in Jiangnan, but no matter how busy he was, he would try his best to eat three meals a day with Tong Cheng'er.

This left the subordinates in Jiangnan quite puzzled. They had no chance to invite their master to a meal, but upon inquiring, they learned that their master was returning to the mansion to dine with his wife. Everyone was astonished upon hearing this.

Jiangnan is not exactly close to the capital, and most of the people Yinzhen had in Jiangnan were arranged by him before his marriage, so he really didn't know that Tong Cheng'er, the Fourth Prince's wife, was a famous "jealous woman" in the capital.

A woman can only be jealous if the man is willing to give her the opportunity. If Yinzhen hadn't been willing to pamper her, Tong Cheng'er would never have been labeled a "jealous woman".

At most, people will say something like "not virtuous enough".

Now that Yinzhen's subordinates had found out, they naturally couldn't remain silent. Before they found out about the Fourth Prince's wife, they were thinking of hosting a banquet and sending women as gifts.

Now that they have found out, they naturally understand the Fourth Prince's position in the master's heart, so they naturally cannot do things like inviting guests to dinner and sending women.

After all, when they invite guests to dinner, they don't allow the master to accompany the wife. If the fourth wife is unhappy, she could easily make things worse by whispering in his ear.

As for sending women, they didn't want to court disaster.
