"Master, something has happened to Miss Liu'er."
The Eighth Prince showed no particular expression and casually asked, "What happened?"
The man replied, "Miss Liu'er has been poisoned, and the doctor said there is nothing that can be done to save her."
The Eighth Prince frowned: "Why would someone be poisoned out of the blue?"
"This servant is unaware. Master, would you like to go and see Miss Liu'er?"
The Eighth Prince looked at the official documents in his hand and said, "I won't go. Let the doctor do his best to treat her. If she really can't be saved, then give her a proper burial. But we must find out the cause of her poisoning."
He may not care whether a woman lives or dies, but he needs to know the cause of death. After all, the person who died was still his, and it would be a loss of face for him if she died for no reason.
The person asking the question seemed surprised by the answer. The Eighth Prince had always treated the Sixth Prince fairly well, giving him whatever he wanted and sending him many nice things. The Eighth Prince had thought the Sixth Prince would be different! Who knew that he wouldn't even visit him when he was about to die.
"Yes, this servant will go and investigate immediately."
After the person left, the Eighth Prince put down his pen and ink. In fact, he didn't need to investigate much to know who was responsible. Besides his wife, no one else had the motive and ability to do it.
