Chapter Ninety-Nine: Meeting the Mother-in-Law

Yinzhen was barely satisfied, but when the Tong family heard the news that they would be getting married in six months, they almost fainted from anger.

Before going to bed that night, Shumulu couldn't help but say to Alhatu, "I don't know what His Majesty was thinking. He just set a wedding date without any discussion. Thinking that Cheng'er will be getting married in half a year, I can't help but feel uneasy."

How must Al-Hatu feel about this?

He watched his daughter grow from a tiny baby into the woman she is today. She's the only daughter in several generations of his family, and everyone in the family cherishes her dearly.

Al-Hatu sighed: "Who can argue with that?"

Shumulu muttered under her breath, "His Majesty set the time so hastily, anyone who didn't know better would think that the Fourth Prince couldn't find a wife! He's in such a rush."

Al-Hatu heard this and shook his head, saying, "Nonsense."

Shumulu: "I know it's impossible. It's not that I'm upset, you can't just not let me say a few words!"

The two talked like that until they fell asleep.

When Tong Cheng'er heard about the wedding date, she also felt it was a bit too early. She had heard that there were many royal rules, and the thought of them gave her a headache.

Marrying the Fourth Prince was a done deal, and it wasn't that she couldn't accept it, but she thought she could stay at home a little longer and enjoy her last moments together.

Tell her now that she only has six months.

She was indeed a little unhappy.

While petting the cat, Tong Cheng'er said, "I don't even know how I became the Fourth Prince's wife. I'm still completely clueless!"

Since she was all alone, no one would answer her. So she picked up the cat and looked into its eyes: "Do you think the Fourth Prince has really taken a liking to me? After all, he once said he wanted to partner with me to open an instant noodle shop. Otherwise, why would he be interested in me? It doesn't make sense."

At this moment, Tong Cheng'er really wanted to ask that 1314 administrator if he was the one who did this.

The Tong family could only complain in their hearts that His Majesty had not handled things well, and then they began to actively prepare the dowry and other necessities for the wedding.

Meanwhile, Yinzhen was also busy. He furnished Yaocheng Courtyard with everything he could. The layout was similar to Tong Cheng'er's current courtyard, but the details were more exquisite.

It can be said that they put a lot of thought and effort into the arrangement.

Yinzhen asked Su Peisheng, "Have you prepared everything I asked you to?"

Su Peisheng replied with a smile, "Your Majesty, please rest assured, this servant personally oversaw the preparations, and everything is complete."

Yinzhen nodded: "That's good. Take your things and let's go!"

Su Peisheng: "Yes, Master."

Yinzhen boarded the carriage, which was heading towards the Tong residence.

Upon arriving at the gate, he was stopped by the gatekeeper: "Sir, who are you?"

Just as Su Peisheng was about to answer, Yinzhen suddenly spoke up, "Fourth Prince."

The doorman exclaimed, "This is the future son-in-law!"

Moreover, he was a prince.

The doorman's polite expression immediately turned into a friendly smile: "Please come in and have a seat, I'll go and inform them."

Yinzhen nodded.

The gatekeeper trotted to the mansion to report that Alhatu was not home today and there was no one in the front yard, so he informed Shumulu.

When Shumulu heard that it was the Fourth Prince, although she had never met him, she felt quite complicated thinking about how her daughter would be marrying him in six months.

No matter how complicated her feelings were, she couldn't leave him hanging. Even if he wasn't a prince, there was no reason to leave her future son-in-law waiting.

After all, in families that dote on their daughters, the son-in-law should be given the most honored seat and treated with respect when he visits. There is absolutely no reason to refuse him entry.

Shumulu instructed, "Go quickly and welcome the Fourth Prince in. Be kind to him."

The doorman agreed and left.

After the gatekeeper left, Shumulu had fine tea and snacks prepared to entertain the prospective son-in-law who was visiting for the first time.

What she was thinking no longer seemed important; now she only hoped that the Fourth Prince was a well-mannered and respectful person who would treat her daughter well in the future.

Therefore, Shumulu was naturally willing to treat him with courtesy and consideration.

Ultimately, it was all for her daughter; it was a mother's heart full of love.

Yinzhen didn't have to wait long before the gatekeeper who had run in earlier came over, his smile even more genuine than before.

"Fourth Prince, the Master is not in the mansion. The Princess Consort invites you in."

Yinzhen perked up. This was his future mother-in-law. He knew that Tong Cheng'er was very dependent on her mother, and the two had a very deep bond.

Yinzhen was welcomed inside and then arrived at Shumulu's courtyard.

As soon as he entered, he saw Lady Shumulu come out to greet him with a smile, and then she made a gesture to pay her respects. Yinzhen quickly dodged her and said, "Aunt, I am a junior and do not deserve such a gesture from you."

Seeing his sincerity, Shumulu was pleased, but her actions remained unchanged: "The proper etiquette must not be disregarded." She then prepared to perform the ceremony.

One insisted on bowing, while the other insisted on avoiding it. After a long standoff, the two finally sat down. In the end, Shumulushi bowed, but Yinzhen turned to the side and avoided it.

Shumulu Shi had no complaints about this. She bowed just in case, in case the Fourth Prince was not a very magnanimous person, he would hold her daughter responsible for the whole thing.

In retrospect, the Fourth Prince was quite open-minded and didn't put on any airs.

After the two sat down, Shumulu smiled and said to the maid, "Quickly serve tea to the Fourth Prince."

Then he said to Yinzhen, "Have a cup of tea to soothe your throat."
