Fei Yanggu dismissed all the servants, leaving only his own family members, and said to Shu Yuan in a deep voice, "You kneel down before me."
Shuyuan was startled. Having been in the Qing Dynasty for so long, this was the first time she had ever seen Fei Yanggu so angry.
Startled, she froze and didn't move. Fei Yanggu thought she was disobeying him, and his blood rushed to his head.
He repeated, "I'm telling you to kneel down."
Shuyuan trembled and immediately knelt down.
Although Lady Jue Luo doted on her daughter, she dared not have any objections to her husband's actions.
Jue Luo could only pat Fei Yanggu on the back to calm him down: "Master, please calm down."
Fei Yanggu ignored Jue Luo Shi and sternly asked Shu Yuan, "What did you do in the palace that made His Majesty disregard my reputation and bestow you upon someone as a concubine? Do you know that this is a disgrace to me and to our entire Ulanara clan? Tell me, what exactly did you do?"
Shuyuan was completely bewildered; she genuinely knew nothing about it!
"Father, your daughter doesn't know either. Please investigate, Father."
Fei Yanggu didn't believe it. If she really didn't know, the eunuch who just delivered the imperial decree would have said such a thing.
Are you going to tell me or not?
Shuyuan looked distressed: "My daughter really didn't know."
Feiyanggu was running out of patience. He usually doted on his daughter, but that was only when it involved the entire Ulanara clan.
"I'll give you one more chance, will you talk or not?"
Shuyuan wasn't a good-natured person either. Being forced like this, even though this person was her nominal father, made her kneel down and beg her to admit her mistakes. For her, this was more humiliating than being slapped in the face in public.
Shuyuan looked bewildered and pitiful: "What do you want me to say? I really don't know anything."
She was still wondering what was going on! She hadn't even had time to grieve over the blow of her shattered dream before he started lecturing her, so his tone wasn't exactly gentle.
Hearing her self-righteous tone, Fei Yanggu became even angrier. How come he had never realized before that his daughter was so good at arguing!
He was absolutely furious.
"Fine, since you won't admit your mistake, then go to the small Buddhist hall in the quiet courtyard to reflect on your actions. Come out when you've thought things through."
Upon hearing this, Jue Luo couldn't hold back any longer. The Jingyuan was a place specifically for worshipping Buddha, not a place for people to live. Everything was lacking: "Master, I think Yuan'er really doesn't know. Could it be that she has been tricked by someone else?"
Fei Yanggu didn't think so. If he had heard the news himself, he might have been suspicious, but since the news came from someone close to His Majesty, it meant that Shuyuan had really done something to enrage His Majesty.
His own daughter was perfectly suited to be a prince's wife, but now she's been betrothed to a prince's illegitimate son as a secondary wife. He's completely lost face.
