Chapter Twenty-Two: Scattering Silver

The maid knew nothing when asked, which made Tong Cheng'er frown. She wouldn't have thought much of others, but she couldn't help but think more about Tong Yunyao.

Tong Cheng'er said to Shu Wan, "It's because the maids in the manor aren't attentive enough. I hope you can be more understanding, sister."

Although Shuwan thought the maid was useless, she couldn't say it out loud.

"The maid didn't ask clearly in her haste, so there's no question of taking responsibility. It's my sister who needs to trouble you."

After exchanging a few polite words, Tong Cheng'er, fearing something might go wrong, instructed Ru Lan: "Quickly send someone to fetch a doctor, and also a few more people, so that if the twist is serious, someone can help carry you back."

Rulan: "Yes, Princess."

Rulan moved quickly; before they even arrived at their destination, Rulan came over with two strong-looking old women.

There were always some unsavory old women waiting in the garden, and Rulan found two of them after walking only a few steps.

These two old women are strong enough to lift two delicate and slender princesses in their early teens.

The pavilion in the middle of the lake in the mansion was a scenic spot in itself, but the two of them were not in the mood to appreciate the scenery. After walking through the winding wooden corridor over the water, they saw two people sitting in the pavilion, each accompanied by a maid.

Tong Cheng'er and Shu Wan are gone.

As soon as they arrived, before Tong Cheng'er could say anything, Tong Yunyao complained, "Tong Cheng'er, what kind of lousy place is this? I twisted my ankle just talking to Sister Shuyuan, and you came so late. I must be incompatible with your family."

Upon hearing this, Tong Cheng'er said, "If you feel that you are incompatible with my family, I did not force you to come. You don't need to make yourself feel wronged and disgust others."

Tong Yunyao never said a word against Tong Cheng'er. Tong Yunyao said, "Don't go too far."

Tong Cheng'er couldn't understand how she could say such a thing. Who was more outrageous?

Upon hearing this, Shuyuan also felt that Tong Yunyao's intelligence was indeed somewhat worrying. Of course, this was a good thing for her; if she were smart, there would be no room for her to make a difference.

Shuyuan slowly said, "Sister Yunyao has been waiting a little too long. I didn't expect Princess Cheng'er to arrive so late. I spoke a bit bluntly, but I didn't mean anything by it. I hope Princess Cheng'er won't take it to heart."

Tong Cheng'er felt a sense of familiarity with what he was hearing; wasn't this a very famous "green tea" quote?

...No other meaning...Don't overthink it. This sentence structure is so familiar, and look at Shuyuan Gege's embarrassed and aggrieved expression. Has she encountered a green tea b*tch?

Indeed, green tea is a creature that transcends gender and time.

Tong Cheng'er wanted to teach her a lesson, to show her that she couldn't be too manipulative, but Shu Wan spoke first.

"Look at what you're saying, sister. Cheng'er didn't think much of it. Besides, the reason we came late was because we were worried that you and Princess Yunyao wouldn't be able to leave. We specially found two old women to help out, but you're overthinking it. People who don't know better might think we did something to you!"

Shuwan was already very familiar with Shuyuan's tactics and could counter them accordingly.

Tong Cheng'er laughed, finding Shu Yuan quite amusing. She was a green tea bitch when it came to women, and none of the men around her seemed to pity her.

It's better to be undermined by your own sister than to say it yourself.

"Sister Shuwan is right. By the way, how are your feet, sisters?"

Shuyuan said, "I twisted my ankle, it hurts a lot, and I can't walk."

Tong Cheng'er was actually a little confused: "How did you two manage to twist your ankles at the same time?"

Tong Yunyao shouted loudly, "What, you still doubt that we're faking it? How malicious!"

Tong Cheng'er: Why does this voice sound a little guilty to her?

It is questionable.

Shuyuan: "Princess Cheng'er, my foot is really hurting. Why don't you take us back quickly?"

Tong Cheng'er couldn't just remember to spread someone's legs and look directly at them, so she said, "Okay then."

Then she ordered two old women and their own maids to help Shuyuan and Tong Yunyao, but they refused.

Tong Yunyao, with a look that said "this old woman is not worthy," said, "Tong Cheng'er, what do you mean? Is your servant the only one who can touch me?"

Tong Cheng'er thought to herself, "I don't see you covered in gold! You're just a body made of flesh, so why can't I touch you?"

Tong Cheng'er was increasingly certain that her foot was alright; otherwise, she wouldn't have had the leisure to cause trouble! A twisted ankle is extremely painful, and if it were her, she would probably be eager to see a doctor as soon as possible, instead of wasting time here.

However, since he had at least put on an act, Tong Cheng'er wanted to know what he was up to, so she cooperated and said, "Then tell me what I need to do to satisfy you."

Tong Yunyao said without ceremony, "Help me up."

"That's impossible," he scoffed. "You're dreaming again!"

Tong Yunyao: "What do you mean? Who are you saying is dreaming!"

"I'm talking to you. I'm two years younger than you. If I can't support you when the time comes, you'll complain that I didn't do my best. You think I'd do something so thankless? You're just dreaming! You're really dreaming."

Does she deserve her?!

Tong Yunyao was speechless for a moment upon hearing this, and finally said shamelessly, "Then what do you suggest? Anyway, I don't want your servant to help me."

Tong Cheng'er really didn't tolerate her: "Since that's the case, Rulan, find someone who's fast on their feet and go to Mother's place quickly. Tell Consort Hesheli to send someone to pick up her granddaughter and say that her granddaughter said that the servants in our household are not worthy to support her noble princess."

Rulan immediately replied, "Yes, this servant will send someone right away."

Upon hearing this, Tong Yunyao chickened out. Her stepmother had something to do today and couldn't come; she had come with her grandmother.
