Chapter 6, Section 006: Audio Editing Lesson
Mo Shubai was probably used to this, and entered with a faint smile. All the disciples immediately stood up and bowed, addressing him as Immortal Master.
Mo Shubai gestured for everyone to sit down, and then introduced himself with a smile and a gentle tone in a voice as refreshing and melodious as the wind passing through a bamboo forest.
“My surname is Mo and my given name is Shubai. I will be teaching you all for the next year.”
It turns out it was only for one year. It seems the celestial prince had fallen in love with mortals and came to teach these newbies a trick. The disciples all immediately understood.
Otherwise, they wouldn't be qualified to receive such genius guidance.
However, before Mo Shubai began his lesson, he first asked all the disciples to hand over their identity jade tokens.
It was nothing more than what everyone was holding in their hands, which he swept away with his spiritual power and took into his hands.
During this flight, everyone's name, aptitude, and spiritual roots were undoubtedly displayed clearly.
Song Chi quickly glanced around and found that no one else had three spiritual roots below eighty like her. The vast majority had at least one spiritual root above eighty-five. It was said that many disciples with excellent spiritual root aptitude had emerged in recent years, and judging from the current situation, that was indeed the case.
Her spiritual root indeed attracted the attention of many fellow disciples, some with pity, some with ridicule, and some simply with amusement, their expressions varied.
The boy next to Song Chi chuckled crookedly and muttered, "Three spiritual roots, seventy-seven."
This kid's name is Qi Zhenmo. He has excellent spiritual root aptitude, possessing three spiritual roots: metal, water, and earth. His metal and earth roots are both at 95, and his water root is at 87. Among all the new inner disciples, he could probably rank in the top 30. In any case, there aren't many others in the class with better spiritual roots than him.
He was not only talented, but also good-looking. He was slender like a bamboo branch, not very tall, but with excellent body proportions. His face was very elegant and handsome, with a particularly smooth face shape. However, his eyes were dark and his eyelashes were extremely thick. He usually looked at people with his eyelashes half-lowered. His well-defined chin was strong, giving him a rebellious air about him.
Song Chi felt that he had the potential to be the second or third male lead, because two or three girls in the class stared at him with bright eyes when they saw his spiritual root aptitude.
Qi Zhenmo didn't care at all; in fact, his expression became even more stern, as if he disliked being chased!
This little temper seems to actually make him more appealing to girls. Song Chi remembers this type being quite popular during his middle school years, since this type was basically the epitome of a top student.
Before transmigrating, Song Chi was twenty-six years old, a music student who researched dogs. Her postgraduate studies were merely a way to escape the need to work. In fact, her family was quite wealthy, and she could easily have relied on them. However, she tragically died in a car accident and ended up in this world. Becoming the family's hope, even with her lazy nature, she had no choice but to shoulder this expectation.
But I digress. In short, someone her age naturally has no interest in a middle school student like Qi Zhenmo. This kid seems to be a year older than her, already fifteen.
In fact, she estimated that everyone in her class was older than her. She had only turned fourteen the day before she entered the sect. But that didn't matter; she had an old-fashioned mentality.
After Mo Shubai collected everyone's tokens, these tokens would be enshrined in the sect's master hall. If a disciple were to perish outside the sect, the token would shatter.
Mo Shubai then swept his hand, and each disciple received a jade token. They each dripped their blood into it with spiritual energy; these would become the inner disciple tokens for entering and leaving the sect.
Otherwise, following the previous command token, which would immediately reveal the user's name, place of origin, date of birth, and qualifications, would essentially be handing a weapon to the enemy. It could even lead to the annihilation of the entire family. This jade token, however, displays nothing at all.
Next, Mo Shubai began his lectures. The first day consisted of nothing more than discussing the history of the immortal sects, the composition of spiritual energy, and basic knowledge such as the meridians and acupuncture points in the human body.
After explaining all this, about half an hour had passed. Next, the disciples were instructed to circulate their spiritual energy while seated, and the immortal master checked each one to ensure the circulation was smooth.
This kind of thing naturally couldn't stop the inner disciples who had good aptitude and spiritual roots. However, because the immortal master was too handsome and his aura was too powerful, even though the immortal master Mo Shubai was gentle and refined, his two-meter-eight-meter aura was only slightly shortened by half an inch.
When his fingers checked the flow of spiritual energy on the male disciples' pulse points, they were all very nervous, and a few even blushed for some unknown reason.
Some of the female disciples gasped in surprise, and every female disciple whose spiritual energy circulation had been checked had a flushed face.
Song Chi had a feeling that the sect should hurry up and persuade this immortal master of the fairy prince to go back, otherwise she was worried that her disciple's Dao heart would become unstable sooner or later.
Looking like that, even if it were her... well, it doesn't seem like her heart would flutter.
However, when Master Mo Shubai placed his fingers on her pulse point, she still slightly lifted her eyelids to look at Shen Yan a few more times, and received a faint smile in return.
Song Chi's heart skipped a beat, and he was slightly taken aback. But that was all.
But she was still met with a laugh from Qi Zhenmo beside her. The boy was being held by the immortal master on the wrist, but he looked over and stared at her face for a moment. Then he closed his thick eyelashes, and his gaze was clearly full of mockery.
Song Chi unconsciously wiped her cheek; it felt a little hot. Unsurprisingly, she was no different from the other female disciples, her mind captivated by a handsome man. But then she thought, this was normal; only the female lead would be indifferent to good looks. She was just an ordinary person.
But to say she was infatuated was definitely not the case. She's never been interested in dating and has even been criticized for being heartless. They were childhood friends, practically inseparable.
Song Chi glanced at Qi Zhenmo sideways, too lazy to argue with him.
After checking on his last disciple, Qi Zhenmo, Immortal Master Mo Shubai had everyone look at the continental history books that had been distributed. He then went out, and the other immortal masters in the same building also went to the courtyard. The group then headed to the plum grove in the west, chatting and laughing as they walked away.
I'm afraid I won't be back until the next class.
This was probably the first day that the schedule was so relaxed, following the sect's curriculum. Next, they would learn about identifying different types of spiritual herbs, different types of demonic beasts, talismans, magic arrays, divination, divination techniques, identification of refining materials and basic knowledge of refining, basic knowledge of alchemy, basic knowledge of swordsmanship, basic knowledge of music, and so on. It was all-encompassing and they all had to learn it.
These are all morning courses. The afternoons are elective courses specifically for each disciple, lasting only one and a half hours.
However, this was only for the first three years. In the following seven years, alchemy and sword cultivation were taught separately.
For example, this morning after learning about herbal medicine, before the end of class at noon, Master Mo Shubai made it clear that he would still be in this classroom this afternoon to teach music, and those who wanted to study music could stay and learn.
Of course, he had requirements. "You must have the three spiritual roots of metal, water, and wood, or even the two spiritual roots of metal and water. The rest of you disciples should go and learn from the immortal masters who are suitable for you. The academy will post a notice at the gate listing the cultivation methods of the various immortal masters."
Upon hearing this, several small, disappointed groans immediately filled the classroom.
The male disciples probably felt they wouldn't receive guidance from renowned masters, while the female disciples had the added advantage of being favored by a celestial being. However, their spiritual roots weren't suited for sound cultivation, so listening would be useless. Not daring to neglect their studies, they naturally spent their afternoon classes in their chosen specializations, such as the Sword Sect, Pill Sect, Heavenly Mystery Pavilion, or Exquisite Pavilion. The Heavenly Mystery Pavilion primarily focused on talismans, arrays, and celestial deduction, while the Exquisite Pavilion specialized in life-giving spiritual arts suitable for water and wood spiritual roots.
Song Chi doesn't need to change seats; he can just continue listening to the lectures here. And he's actually quite looking forward to it.
If she learns the methods of sound cultivation, she might be able to take on sound cultivation quests. That would mean double the spirit stone rewards and quest points, which would be quite lucrative.
Therefore, Song Chi didn't go back for a lunch break after lunch; he just sat in the classroom and waited.
After all, there are three Sound Cultivation Immortal Masters, and the Azure Sword Sect already has the most Sword Cultivation and Sound Cultivation disciples. Song Chi guessed that there was a high probability that the Sound Cultivation genius would come to the Guihai Class to seek instruction from Immortal Master Mo Shubai.
The other disciples in the Guihai class who were suited for sound training thought the same way, and they all came to sit down after their meal.
Song Chi noticed that Dai Jia, with her dual metal and water spiritual roots, was perfectly suited for swordsmanship, and she remained seated without moving. Her face had been flushed red when Master Mo Shubai checked her spiritual energy earlier.
What a loser! He's even given up on swordsmanship, which suits him best, and is now messing around with sound engineering.
Song Chi glanced over and saw Dai Jia's face immediately turn bright red, looking both angry and embarrassed. It was clear she knew she was wrong, but she still didn't move. She probably wanted to witness Mo Shubai's ethereal beauty playing the zither today before even trying to learn her swordsmanship.
As for Cheng Yao, she originally possessed the three spiritual roots of metal, water, and wood, making her well-suited for sound cultivation. It was only natural for her to be here.
As expected, Xi Ya was not swayed by beauty and did not come to the Guihai class at all in the afternoon.
To Song Chi's dismay, Qi Zhenmo casually took his seat. With his elemental roots of metal, water, and earth, he was perfectly suited for the Heavenly Mystery Pavilion; crafting talismans required a superior earth elemental root. Moreover, his appearance alone suggested intelligence, making him well-suited for the Heavenly Mystery Pavilion's divination and array/mechanical techniques.
But he chose to study music.
Song Chi glanced at the kid speechlessly. The kid was resting his chin on his hand, a faint light flashing beneath his thick eyelashes. His nonchalant attitude seemed to say, "I'm not doing my job properly, so what can you do about it?"
Song Chi shrugged, thinking to himself, "What's it to me?"
As Song Chi had predicted, almost all the talented music students from the other nine classes soon squeezed into the Guihai class.
Su Qiwu and Jiang Linyue were among them. The two of them went straight to the back row and, unfortunately, sat in front of Song Chi and Qi Zhenmo.
There were many other disciples who were also going to join the Guihai class. However, these disciples were a bit funny. They compared their spiritual roots with each other, and those with poor spiritual root aptitude automatically withdrew.
Thus, aside from the original students of the Guihai class, such as Song Chi, who had poor aptitude and whose disciples from other classes couldn't be expelled, the rest were all those with excellent aptitudes in the metal, water, and wood elements. Among them, even the weakest elemental root had around eighty roots.
Soon it was time to enter the evening. Master Mo Shubai, dressed in a green robe, slowly made his entrance, like a celestial prince. This time, many female disciples from other classes secretly gasped, feeling utterly captivated, and then their eyes sparkled as they shyly stared at the podium.
These girls were probably completely oblivious to Mo Shubai's self-introduction at this point. Their eyes and minds were fixed on his handsome face.
Song Chi had been admiring handsome men all morning, and it had only been noon since he last saw them. Even now, glancing at them a few more times still made his heart skip a beat. The four beauties of the cultivation world truly lived up to their reputation. He wondered what the other three handsome men looked like!
