"The roses are important, but you mustn't pick them. Also, don't miss the circus performance; be sure to watch until the very end. It will be helpful to you."
"It's almost time for work, I need to go back and get ready." With that, the orange clown turned to leave.
Yuan Qingli stopped him: "I'll ask you one last question. Can you tell us where we can find red horses?"
The orange clown was taken aback.
What are you saying?
"There are no horses in the circus, never."
"Don't you want to listen to what you're saying? There are no horses in the circus?" Yuan Qingli really wanted to ask him that.
They actually encountered a black-haired horse during the day!
She even touched him.
But the orange clown's expression was so sincere that Yuan Qingli and Lu Xingyun began to doubt their own memories.
"I have to go. Take care."
After finishing his sentence, the clown turned and left decisively, his slightly desolate figure disappearing into the darkness.
The three were left looking at each other in bewilderment.
"What are we going to do tonight?" Lu Xingyun shouted.
The clown paused, then continued forward, a voice drifting from the darkness: "Stay happy."
These four simple words, though seemingly light, are like a beam of light, piercing through endless darkness and bringing hope.
"Easier said than done. How do you stay happy?" Lu Xingyun muttered. "Do you expect me to force a smile all night?"
The clown had vanished, but the word "happiness" seemed to still float in the sky.
The three stood against the wall, and for a moment, silence prevailed.
"Everyone, what are you planning to do tonight?" Lu Xingyun broke the silence first.
"I just went through some pain, but I felt much better after smelling the fragrance of roses. I wonder if you feel the same way?" Yuan Qingli asked, confirming the plan.
"That's how I am."
Bo Zijin nodded.
"Then I suggest we stay by the rose garden tonight."
“I agree. The attack we suffered before coming here was absolutely outrageous, but standing here, we haven’t suffered any damage. I think the clown factor played a role, and the roses might also have been one of the contributing factors,” Lu Xingyun agreed.
Bo Zijin: "Yes, I agree."
“Let’s take this time to share the clues we have.” Yuan Qingli moved to a more comfortable position. “If the clown wasn’t lying just now, the instance we’re participating in is related to negative emotions.”
"Both games we participated in could induce negative emotions such as fear, dread, and doubt. The unknown entity the clown mentioned should be the system," Yuan Qingli explained in detail.
Lu Xingyun continued the conversation.
"Therefore, the simplest way to eliminate negative emotions is to make yourself happy, which is what the clown calls happiness."
"This aligns with his statement that one must see a performance; the purpose of a circus performance is to bring joy to the audience."
Lu Xingyun took a breath and looked at Yuan Qingli's pale face.
"So you experienced dizziness and abdominal pain because you didn't go to the performance."
"Yes, the upcoming performances... I can't miss a single day." Yuan Qingli raised her hand to tidy her messy hair.
The wind lifted the hem of the tattered cheongsam, revealing the girl's fair legs, stained with alluring bloodstains, resembling a withered flower.
Lu Xingyun's eyes were filled with a deep, dark look. "That's for tomorrow. We need to get through tonight first. I think we should all take turns resting, with two people on duty and one sleeping. There's a bench here, so it'll be good to take a nap."
So the three of them didn't say much. Yuan Qingli took the first nap, Bo Zijin took the second, and Lu Xingyun took the third.
Ladies first has become their guiding principle.
Yuan Qingli was just about to lie down.
A slightly stiff piece of cloth flew over and covered her face.
