Even though Su Su had been in the Ye family for so long, he never knew that there was another world hidden beneath the Ye family's grounds.
"Come in."
Li Ba was the first to walk down the stairs. The dark brown walls of the corridor were illuminated by fluorescent lights, which flickered across his face as he moved, making his old face appear even more sinister.
After reaching the end of the passageway, Su Su discovered that it was a laboratory roughly the size of a basketball court!
In many rooms of the laboratory, there are monsters that are neither human nor ghost. Some of them have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a centipede; others have half of their bodies cut off, yet they still stubbornly live on.
The unease in Su Su's heart grew stronger.
The laboratory was originally incredibly noisy. Some of the inhuman monsters were speaking human language and cursing wildly, demanding that they be let out. Others were muttering words that no one could understand, and still others were just screaming in agony.
But when they saw Li Ba, the hunchbacked old man, the entire laboratory fell silent instantly; you could hear a pin drop.
The monsters all huddled in the corner, their eyes filled with terror, as if the old man before them were some ferocious beast.
"Excuse me, is there anything I can do for you?" Su Su couldn't stand the oppressive atmosphere and couldn't help but ask.
Upon hearing this, Li Ba couldn't help but laugh, revealing a set of large, yellow teeth with black gaps between them.
"Don't worry, you don't need to do anything. See that bed? Just lie down."
Following Li Ba's gaze, Su Su saw an operating table covered with congealed, mottled bloodstains, giving it an eerie feel.
Su Su's Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily, then he closed his eyes, gritted his teeth, and lay flat on the operating table.
The speed and agility of their movements surprised even Li Ba.
"You didn't even know what I was going to do, yet you dared to lie down on me. Aren't you afraid?"
"I'm scared!" Su Su's voice trembled slightly.
"Afraid that you'd still be so proactive?" Li Ba pressed.
"Because... I have something I'm willing to do even at the cost of my life!" Su Su's eyes hardened.
"Hahahaha! Excellent, excellent, excellent! You are simply the most perfect experiment of my dreams!" Li Ba laughed maniacally upon hearing this, his orange-peel-like old face filled with ecstatic joy. "This time it will definitely succeed, it will definitely not fail again!"
With a few clangs, heavy iron shackles bound Su Su's limbs to the operating table.
For some time afterward, heart-wrenching screams echoed continuously from the Ye family's basement.
It was as if a wild beast on the verge of extinction was imprisoned below, and at the same time, Li Ba's strange laughter could be heard.
"Hehehe! Suffer, wail! Don't you want to avenge Ye Diyun? Remember that hatred and become my first successful experiment!"
